Is it just me, or do people with clean computer desktops always have messy actual desktops, and visa versa?

Not always... both messy here! Just changed my desktop layout a bit, so it looks a tad wierd, especially with more than few quite unused icons... real desktop is just... well, out of order, or in "genius' order" shall I say!

OK 3 images, they are a wierd RES I Know but I reset it to the typically largest common desktop res however the image itself is wide, so if you centre it on a black background it looks good, and you can resize it to whatever you need if you have a lesser resolution.
1st 2 pics unedited, 3rd is done with an oilpaint effect turned to high detail I think looks good on some pics I get, its what I did to my current desktop above. -------------------- |

Very nice Linker, though the M16 or the M4 (I don't know what it is, hell it might not even be either of the two, I've had no sleep, sue me!) look's a little odd when it's faded out halfway through it.

Yes, a shameless bit of self promotion
(I usually don't use a wallpaper, as it only wastes memory space and CPU time). And to destroy D@ve's theory, my real-life desktop is almost just as clean Please notice the beautifull 3DFX logo at the bottom right -------------------- |
