More and more addons are beeing packed with 7zip a similar program like Winrar which is used for most of the addons.
The reason why we also extract Winrar packed addons and repack them with 7zip is that 7zip compresses pbo much better than winrar. For example the Land Rover 110 addon is 13,8 MB big when packed with Winrar and only 10,6 MB when packed with 7zip. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until now we have always added the below hint to any addon packed with 7zip : QUOTE This addon is packed with 7-zip, a packer tool similar to Winrar. You can get it from HERE, but the files can also be extracted with Winrar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now we are asking you if this note is necessary or if we can leave it out in the futur. Or would it be sufficient if we'd do it this way? DOWNLOAD - Land Rover Defender 110 (v 0.5 Beta) - [10,6 MB (7zip)] If you have another proposal feel free to post it in this thread Thank you for your time ! -------------------- |

It's probabley be worth putting something similar for .rar files. I know this doesn't apply to a lot of people on the forums, but there are still a lot of people who don't know what .rar format is.
I know this may be somewhat reactionary, but a lot of people aren't as nerdy as we are -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

We can open 7z with wincom and with WinRar! Let it be! I like it. The question is not whether or not the 7zip format should be used any more, the question is if the notice about 7zip should still be added to newsposts -------------------- |

In my humble opinion I think there should be a little box somewhere on the page saying that the format supports winrar etc like a little help box or something?
