Hi guys. If someone could help me to resolve a problem I would be very grateful.
When I try to start Arma I get the following message and the game does not start:
"Cannot create 3D device
Adapter 0 (ELSA FALCOX RADEON 920FX) Fullscreen
Resolution800*600, format*8R8G8B8/A8R8G8B8/D24S8, refresh 75Hz.
ERROR D3DERR_INVALIDCALL"

I tried to place "-nomap" parameter in shortcut but it didn't help. It helps me to resolve the same problem in OFP but with ArmA

Thank you

Well, since a great part of this community do not own ArmA yet it's hard to find a solution.
You may raise or lower resolution. Radeon 9200? Seems not the best videocard to play ArmA with.

I'm having the same problem here myself, running Radeon 8500 though. The problem with changing the res as you suggested could fix it, its just that I (or him prolly.) cant even get ingame. This error occurs right after the copy protection check.

Isn't there a "preferences" option before you're actually in the game? On OFP there was another option in the 'Codemasters' tab on the start menu called "Flashpoint Preferences". Is that there?

AFAIK i know that card misses the shader model 2.0, so youll never play ArmA with a 8500, i dont know about the 9200 though, but you might want to check if its supported (but AFAIK those go up to SM 1.4).

EDIT: Posting your specs may help though, i just guessed that "RADEON 920FX" means a 9200

You're prolly right bout the missing pixel shader, but is it really that much required? Shouldn't it just look fugly in the game instead of not even starting?

No, there are minimum specs for a reason.

Not really, all the other requirements would mean the game would be slow as hell. The Pixel Shader 2.0 requirement however does prevent the game from being run at all.

Edit: Might want to e-mail BIS with your problem if you card does support PS 2.0.

Edit #2: From the ATi website:

QUOTE
Radeon® 9200 series was the first mainstream graphics solution to combine Microsoft® DirectX® 8.1 support with AGP 8X.

DirectX 8.1, PS 2.0 is part of DX9.0.

Do you get an error message? You really are on the minimum of the minimum, and the FX5200 is so slow (i had one) that it probably wont play the game at an acceptable FPS, even with everything on low, it does support Dx9 so in theory it should work.

After to do the scan of the starforce and to go out from the window of the starforce, this mistake appears after some seconds:
CODE
Signature of the error:
AppName: arma.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.5087 ModName: arma.exe
ModVer: 1.0.0.5087 Offset: 000bac5d

The VGA card is definitely too old.
