Hey
OK I've had the game for 2 weeks now and I'm still getting FPS problems with my game. I thought my PC would run it, but obviously not. Intel® Pentium® Dual Core CPU 3.20GHz - 3199.1 MHz Core Speed 2 X DDR2, PC2-4300 (266 MHz), 1024 MBytes, Infineon (Basicly 2 gig of DDR2 RAM) Nvidia GeForce 7500LE with 512MB Memory - Memory.. can't remember but its low (on a diffrent computer right now). 300 Gig Hard Drive I have the German Boxed version from Amazon.de and it is Patched from 1.00 to 1.01 to 1.02, then patched with the v0.8 English Patcher. All settings are set on Very Low, and I get 20fps when nothing is happening. I am thinking its because of the Memory speed on my Graphics card. I'm sorry I cant give information about it since i've forgoten the clock speed on it. I have tried overclocking it in the Nvidia Control panel, but it only helped on the FPS by about 1-2 extra fps. I have put in my ArmA shortcut -maxmem=2056 (i think thats it) and this helped.. I tried increasing but it just made the game slower now and again, lower made fps lower. I have gone into my ArmA.cfg and changed from 32bit to 16bit... the colour looks crap in game but its better than nothin and it gave me an extra 2-3 fps. I am using a 21" Widescreen monitor with a 1440x960 Resolution in game. I have tried changing it to lower resolutions but had no change in fps at all, and it just looked horrible. I am thinking of buying a new graphics card.. although you would have thought that the graphics card was a high spec one in the first place. Any other ideas or suggestions you could give that could help my fps? -------------------- |

I am thinking the video card the weak point. It's a Nvidia GeForce 7500LE probably using part of your 1024 Mo Ram as video ram. It can't work. You need 1,5 Go on your main board and 256 Mo (or 512 Mo) on your video card.
Moreover, german players seem to have troubles after having applied patch 1.02. -------------------- |

Never set it to use 100% of your ram, because windows+background proccesses usually take up a bit aswell, i recommend to set it to 75% if your RAM. 20FPS isnt that bad as long as its (quite) stable (17-22FPS). And as Old Bear said: that videocard cant handle that resolution in a game like ArmA, and it uses 512MB of your ram ('turbocache', nothing turbo about it), so that would leave 1544mb for the game, minus +-250mb for windows etc leaves +-1200mb left for ArmA, so i wouldnt set your maxmem above that. That 7500LE is some horrible slow OEM only card, its near to impossible to find any benchmarks of it, but the 3dmark scores are horrible (average of 4000 points in 3DMark03, yes, thats the 2003 version, there are no scores to be found with newer 3dmark versions, because it would run like poo anyway) EDIT: As a comparison: My low-mid end PC gets +-10000 points in 3mark03 (specs: amd x2 4200+, 1,5gb ram, x1600xt) -------------------- Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum.

Sorry if someone already said this. I founf a neat trick that seems to work good. I don't know if this is just ATI but i turn my anti-aliasing on high and it seems to run smoother. Then I hit Alt+TAB and then hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete. I go to the processes tab and find Armed Assault. Then I right click and set its priority up to above normal. I can then run through cities really smooth.

Sidenote: Having 2048 MB of RAM but using maxmem=2056 can't work anyways. I'd not even use 75% of the RAM, 1024 should be already enough! -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Well not 10, but it gave me 3-5 FPS extra, which is quite nice cause my FPS stays above 20 now, and you dont have to sacrifice any image quality for it. Do a search for DirectX on windows.com -------------------- Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum.
