The following is quoted from Smookie over on the BI forums

23rd Ground Division

Background

23rd Ground Division has been around since September 2001. Originally led by GEN Raynor, the success and reputation comes from stern leadership, organised training and the dedication of its members. As the years have passed by times and tastes change. The 23rd Ground Division have seen many people come and go, but they always have held the Division with great respect, even in their passing.

Purpose

The 23rd Ground Division focuses on realism and roleplay, trying to create a good balance between both of them in order to achieve the greatest possible gameplay. Based on US Army tactics 23rd Ground Division brings you through combat training programme, teaching you the most essential skills, in order to prepare you for full combat duty.

Roles

At the moment the 23rd Ground Division is at company level with only one Infantry Platoon. However, Air Squadron and Armoured sections are to be announced soon.

It is not your initial knowlegde and skills but your determination and dedication that matters when applying for the unit. Therefore you can choose any infantry role you would like to have:

Team leader

It is the Team leader's job to look after his fire team and make crucial split seconds decisions that could alter the well being of his men. The Team Leader lead's by example and inspires a sense of moral to his team. It's not a job for the feint hearted, you need to have the quality of leadership and a lot of experience in combat.

Grenadier

The Grenadier's job is to provide supporting and suppressive fire when needed. It is also his job to use his M203 with pin point accuracy and cause enemy squads to disperse and run for cover.

Automatic Rifleman

This position is one of the most important. The Automatic Rifleman usally carrys a light MG and therefore has the greatest fire power in the fire team. Due to the large amount of rounds and rapid rate of fire it is his job to provide a huge amount of supressive and covering fire when needed. He keeps the enemys heads down when the team is manoeuvring.

Rifleman

The Rifleman's job is to generally provide more fire power for the team, he isn't as rapid as the Automatic Rifleman but provides more directed fire at the enemy. It is also his job to keep a keen eye out for the rear and check the team isn’t being flanked from behind. Occasionally the rifleman may be asked to carry spare ammo for the Automatic Rifleman.

Enlistment

If you enjoy the odd co-operation missions on public servers that is great. However if you are looking for more than that, then the 23rd Ground Division could be for you. Visit 23rd Ground Division website in order to enlist for the unit. Recruiting Office member will contact you soon after all the required information is given.

Are you interested in joining the 23rd Ground Division, but you are unsure about it? Well, what better way to ask your questions than to someone who lives and breathes it. He will be able to answer most questions that you have and allow you to learn a lot more.

So you are interested in joining the 23rd Ground Division. Well, hooah! We are very interested in you too, if each of the following statements describes you:

* You are looking for a serious, realism unit.
* You believe that character and values are among the most important traits to look for in a unit.
* You are ready to make a real commitment to this unit.
* You are ready to train, train, train - until it's automatic.
* You want real camaraderie, brotherhood and lifetime friendship.
* You are a mature individual with an excellent can-do, will-do attitude.
* You are prepared to fulfill both combat (in game) and non-combat (out of game) duties.
* You are not currently a member of any other clan/squad/unit that plays Armed Assault.
* You have a microphone and a reasonably-well performing computer system.

Still interested? That's great! However, let's do one final check before you proceed further into the Application process. You need to decide right now, 100% if this is the unit that you want to join. If you aren't 100% sure, or have some questions that you want answered before you can be 100% sure, we encourage you to ask your questions here. Once you submit your Enlistment Application below, we are expecting a full, 100% commitment from you - because you will have a full 100% commitment from us. Now, moving forward, here is what you should expect from the 23rd Ground Division:

* Full range of realism, from chain of command to battlefield.
* Squads and teammates of the highest caliber of honor and integrity.
* The truest type of camaraderie that only a military organizational setting can produce.
* Selection from multiple Roles to find your best fit.
* Unlimited advancement potential - lead a Squad or a Platoon are only some examples.
* Recognition of your achievements and accountability as a person of honor.
* A institution of honor and a lifelong destination to connect with true friends.

If this is what you are looking for, and you believe that you are what we are looking for, then your next step after passing the Application process is Basic Training. Basic Training is the crucible in which a Soldier is forged into a lethal instrument; where a Soldier's character is sharpened into the true grit of honor and character; where you will have to prove that you have what it takes. As a Recruit (RCT), But you aren't a Soldier yet - you're learning to be one. All the Soldiers, and your Drill Sergeant and Instructors, will help you in achieving the goal of being a Soldier, but be advised, they will not make it easy for you. You are going to have to show your mettle to make it. Your Recruit Training will last for two weeks, and here's what you can expect:

* Thought the basic rules and principles of the 23rd Ground Division
* Introduced to Non Combat dutys

In Basic Combat Training you can expect:
* Weapon handeling
* Basic Fireteam/ Squad Tactics
* You will bond with your squadmates during Basic Training (BCT)
* You will learn to love your Drill Sergeant and Instructors like your mother.
* You will become all you can be on the virtual battlefield.

If your Enlistment Application is accepted, you will still need to pass an interview in order to be considered for our Recruit Training program. It takes effort on your part to be a Soldier, but it's worth it in the end - you'll never have an on-line experience like being a 23rd Soldier. Good luck

They're a European clan and you're from Australia, maybe it has something to do with the 8-10 hour time difference? wink.gif
