*pow pow pow* *nothing* *hits the thing* *pow pow pow* *nothing*
Did just a quick test as I didn't want to play with a 3-cell LiPO (which I don't even own) next to my face, with no fuse between it and the MOSFET/trigger group... worked fairly well as it didn't actually jam, but something wrong around the trigger area I guess, or the MOSFET is overheating... will have to tune the thing during the week, as I'm not going to play tomorrow. As for the M23, it feels nice and light enough. Just need something for the main pouches - more mags or an AK that is. A 0.5 liter soda bottle also fits in fantastically, which should be good for long games (more water or BBs). At the moment I have more carrying capacity than need to carry stuff... will see if that changes with grenades or something. If I run out of storage space I can just add a belt and some universal pouches for more mags, nades, rain gear, an MRE or two, gas mask... yeah, I'm also planning to research into using it as a reservist vest, something it should fit perfectly. Now I just need a pistol and preferably a quick-draw holster for it. Been using them on big pistols a few times and I like 'em! -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

Nay bad! Not personally a fan of the "CAVS" style front but good to see another poor guy getting evolved. My M4 is still getting... done and not too eager to just "go and try" the RPK incase something goes wrong.
STAR makes atleast some FALs IIRC, I've seen (and handled) an airsoft Sten atleast, there's the "original Bren"... oh and I own Patt58 webbing. Currently figuring out what stuff to use for a zed scenario game I'll participate in May... propably going to buy a KJW M9 (CO2) and a Safariland holster for it, and run around with my M4 or RPK. The latter is heavy and unwieldy, especially when used with semi, but would be a bit more kickass! Here's a general idea of the look I'm propably going for, add holsters and possibly change the beanie for a baseball cap... Oh, and finally: DO WANT! http://www.outsidecontext.com/2011/03/09/t...t-training-day/ -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

Or go with a more established group such as Stirling Airsoft for SAS selection weekends as well as their CT training courses.
Would not trust Star internals as far as I could throw them. King Arms make an excellent FAL/SLR which I've heard nothing but good things about, throw on an origonal wood kit to it and you'll have an AEG that 90% of airsofters with any taste will be jealous of. There are a couple of good stens kicking about, I'd recommend taking a look around the UK retailers to see the options available, I know a few guys with them though personally I wouldn't go near them purely because I'm not a fan of Brit kit* *added to the fact I dislike the feel and build of the sten as a whole...far to small This post has been edited by Toadball: Mar 16 2011, 19:18 -------------------- Never before in the history of man, was so much buggered up by so few.

I'm stuck between the STAR and King Arms SLR. Do you know anyone that's tried either?

King Arms, Star internals are comparable to cheese of the brie sort.

Here's my current setup:
M4 Sopmod Block II And my backup gun: HK416 It's missing some essential details. Flashhider will be replaced, ANPEQ-15 box and Tango Down foregrip will be added. My third gun will arrive hopefully soon. Finally found someone selling his VFC M82A1. That'll make 3 VFCs in a row. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Cool guns! Been to an awesome Cold War event in Kidderminster. I didn't get much chance to take pictures due to it being pretty intense all day, but I took a break after running full pelt into what turned out to be a very sturdy tree.
Pics Going to have to get that King Arms SLR now. This post has been edited by Daniel: Apr 24 2011, 16:08 -------------------- OFP/Arma addict turned forum lurker.

Okay, my M4's about as pimped as it's ever going to get (short of an underslung sawn-off...).
So, onto that SLR. Toadball, I know you cannae stand STAR internals, and probably with good reason. It's just that i've heard nothing but good things about the STAR L1A1, and i've spotted a real beauty for sale with wooden furniture. Very tempted at the moment. It's had a bit of work done on it to get it shooting well too (MOSFET etc). Sure you don't know anyone that's owned one? I think it's more that STAR/ARES have dubious QC so some of their stuff will be fine but then the next batch will be FUBAR... Best ask the person selling it how it runs I guess.

Ah, ok. I was wondering, why bother to fit all that real wood if it runs like crap? We shall see.

It could be a winner, can't recall what version mech box it uses so it could be fairly easy to have your local techy fix it up if necessary.
Personally looking at these new clone DSA SA-58s for a fal-like (hrhrhr) option -------------------- Never before in the history of man, was so much buggered up by so few.

Why is Norwich so far away? And why are there no motorways? Rubbish. Anyway, good news is i'm picking up an SLR on the way down to the Cold War game in Norwich next weekend. Woohoo!

Nice one,
First time in a while I've managed to actually play and thanks to KiethPOW there's proof! Using the Mk II with a dying battery and having had to ditch the aimpoint following a battery failure earlier in the round was using surprisingly well zeroed irons considering they've not been touched in god knows how long. unt video for anyone curious of the ROF that the upgrades done to both the Mk II and PARA put out on a 9.6v battery. Link to video by KiethPOW Should hopefully be replacing the day-glo DCU with a multicam smock come the end of the month -------------------- Never before in the history of man, was so much buggered up by so few.
