What's a "Facebook"? mellow.gif

Posted by: hotdog Sep 14 2007, 18:14

www.facebook.com

Posted by: D@V£ Sep 14 2007, 18:25

Persumabley, it's a book where you keep the skinned faces of your victims...

Or... a book covered by the skinned face of your victim...

Personally, I try to keep the remains of my victims to a minimum... helps me in court yaknow! ohmy.gif

I can't believe you guys never heard of facebook.

Posted by: D@V£ Sep 14 2007, 21:04

Well, I believe JdB hasn't heard of it, but I find the notion that someone of your awesomeness could be refering to the "social networking site" both mad and blasphemious! ohmy.gif

And why is that?

It's a great tool for all your social engineering needs.

edit: Well, except the actual... Socializing...

rofl Facebook!

1. im a man
2. im not an emo
3. im not an emo
4. im not an emo
5. im not an emo.....

yeah i hate these social networking sites! Identity theft, fraud, peadophilia, hidden charges and bullying. I mean come on. Websites dedicated to you filling out all your intamate personnal details including your address, telephone number and releationship status for the world to see. Making "friends" with random strangers with dedicated meeting up forums etc. Its almost as if it were designed for peadphiles. Its really sick.

heh sorry i really tired its the end of the week and im moody lol ... rant over...
to answer your question ... no i dont have a facebook smile.gif

edit...sorry kinda bit threads head off last night ><

It's great for finding long-lost friends and keeping in touch with those you don't talk to every day.

I wanted to know if any of you guys had it so i could keep in touch but nevermind then. Im out of here.

Posted by: Wittmann Sep 15 2007, 10:09

I use a private myspace and only to keep in touch with some old friends interstate, had a look at facebook but seems to me to be much of a muchness.

Posted by: The Lord Sep 15 2007, 21:12

Hey Hamster, good to see you back, apologies about other members giving their 2 cents about social networking, where it really isnt needed. "No" would be a fine answer As you can see I am a Beboer myself but will be getting facebook for university. And I love your song of the week, learnt it on guitar, very cool biggrin.gif

Posted by: NeMeSiS Sep 19 2007, 21:46

All the pretty girls have it, which makes it useful by default. wink.gif

Most Dutch people use something similar called 'Hyves' which has some nice features to find your old friends back, had a small 'reunion' some time ago from my grammar school (Or whatever the school for 5-12 year olds is called in English) as most of us are going to study/work/whatever now and most people where found using Hyves. tongue.gif

EDIT: Though most people fill in way too much personal information, maybe im paranoid but im not filling in my last name anywhere on the internet, i use a fake last name everywhere and stick to it. tongue.gif

Curses! ohmy.gif

*Scratches the name "Syler" off his new credit card*

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 19 2007, 23:47

myspace is best, facebook another cheap copy like bebo. Awsome for keeping in touch with people though.

Posted by: D@V£ Sep 19 2007, 23:50

Statstics have proven that members of myspace are less likely to have moved onto any form of higher education whereas members of facebook tend to have attended or are currently attending college or sixth form.

And I know people with Myspace and Facebook profiles that fit this sterotype! ohmy.gif

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 20 2007, 00:07

really? i know plenty of friends on myspace who are in higher education, most of my friends on it are, perhaps it is just dependent on the circles of friends. Also myspace is much more popular and facebook is a british 'me too'. More people to screw with the statistics.

A class I was in had for some reason a disliking for this one guy who many people thought was gay (because he said he didn't get a hard-on from watching girls kissing), so they made a fake gay picture by finding some gay-porn picture (from their own collection probably), and edited the guys head on, after which he posted it on cu2night.nl (similar to Facebook, Myspace etc). The guy who made it got kicked out of school. The guy who it was about left the school. They both ended up in the same school, and the same class again. F*cking hilarious, their new school hadn't thought for a moment that it might cause problems XD

I wasn't involved in any way...(although I could have come up with a much better Photoshop than he did biggrin.gif )

I don't spend time on such "social" sites (online shopping malls for bullying, underage prostitution and future anorexic cases), I have you people to manage...If I want to talk to my friends I'll just visit or call them. If I haven't seen someone in like 10 years, than I don't think contacting them on purpose would really spark an interest in them. Either it happens spontaneously, or it doesn't unsure.gif

Posted by: Wittmann Sep 20 2007, 10:12

I find it useful, but then again only 3 years ago I left my friends in QLD behind and like to keep in touch, many of them are not on msn often due to study, work, life ect. I just set my profile to private so people who dont know me cant peruse photos/messages/info.

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 20 2007, 11:00

like anything it seems it used best by mature older people. Even my mum uses it, its like a free friends re-united for 30+ year olds. Most of the bullying etc.. comes from the members who are still in school (you used to have to be 18 to have myspace when it was first launched).

How would you check that? Social security number? tiredsmiley.gif

Oh no, probably the uber-safe method of filling in your date of birth tongue.gif (making it not the companies' legal responsibility, but your own)

Posted by: JynX Dec 23 2007, 02:56

meh i only use it, like my friends, to keep tabs on what my the mob i hung around in at highschool is doing.

Posted by: Daniel Dec 24 2007, 14:31

Facebook's great! Especially since I live in a pretty isolated part of England, you can see what your student bastard friends are up to in Newcastle, Sheffield, London, etc. If I want to know what gigs people are up to at the weekend i'll use MySpace. I don't see a problem with it really, its useful and can be a laugh.

Posted by: Wittmann Jan 2 2008, 02:41

Argh! Scorpy found me!

it was more stuff they dug up on it about where his son a daughter go to college and what they do for a living - that sort of thing, not sure how they got access to there sites but this guys son is a bit of a scene kid. On your first point yes, i hear the British army is really heavy on monitoring internet use on tour for obvious reasons. It can be punished pretty severly if you write somthing you should not.
