For anyone who is not acquainted with who the AEF is, we are one of Australia's longest operating gaming groups, with divisions for a range of FPS, Strategy and Simulation games. The 2nd Cavalry, or 2CAV, is the one and only Armed Assault division in the AEF, and with a strong focus on maturity and teamwork, the team provides a gaming experience to cater for a wide range of tastes. 2CAV has been operational since the release of ArmA, with many of its members old OFP players and other simulation enthusiasts (such as IL2). Although we do occasionally participate in Team versus Team operations, the majority of the teams work is done on the COOP battlefield, and with the monthly large scale COOP nights being hosted on our own servers, 2CAV is looking to bolster its numbers to provide manpower for any task required. Aside from the large scale events, 2CAV actively trains and plays together regularly throughout the week. You'll find that 2CAV on the whole is considerably more relaxed than some other ArmA groups, however that does not make the team incapable of being a serious and cohesive unit - there's a time and a place to be serious, and if you don't laugh in between you'll surely go insane. Recruitment Process Due to 2CAV being a division within the AEF, we are subject to the inherit processes in regards to new member registration. To join the AEF you must be 16 years of age or older. There are no exceptions to this rule. New members spend at least 3 weeks in Training Corps (TC) to get a feel for the AEF and for familiarisation. They apply to join a team on registration but after TC they can then formally join the team for matches and scrims. Until that time, applicants are essentially on a trial membership period. Applicants will also need the communication software Ventrilo installed on their system and (obviously) a working microphone. Applicants are given an oral induction into the AEF and apart from that, you'll need the mic to communicate with us when you play. Our setup guide for Ventrilo can be found here: http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef3/forum/viewto...f=1&t=15061 Training 2CAV does not implement a rigid training structure unlike a selection of other ArmA groups. There are regular training nights, however these nights are dedicated more to learning more about each members skills and abilities and how they slot in with the rest of the teams capabilities. The outcome of this is that the team overall prefers to play as often as possible together in a relaxed environment (there's no "yes sir" / "no sir") to better ourselves as a unit so that everyone is prepared for the next operation. Organisation The team overall has a designated CO and 2IC that help to steer the team in the desired direction, and with the help of three separate section leaders, the management team also sets up training nights, organised events and various other activities for the team. The sections (or squads) do not have fixed members from within 2CAV, rather players are swapped around and mixed between the sections. We feel this allows everyone to get to know each other, rather than having the team divided into separate sections that only play with designated team mates. However in saying that. if members have a desired or specialized role, they are prioritized for that particular position. AEF currently operates 2 servers for Armed Assault, with the intent to run servers for ArmA 2 upon it's release. Members of the public are invited to participate in Friday night "organised" games and other events - make sure you join ventrilo to get in on the action and visit our public forums to keep up to date on the planned ops for the week. Are we the group for you? If you like what you've read here, don't be afraid to jump onto our Ventrilo server and talk to some of our members in regards to what the 2CAV can offer you. If we seem like the group for you then we look forward to seeing your application soon, if not, then we look forward to seeing you on the battlefield - don't hesitate to get on our Ventrilo server to have a game with us Swordsman 2CAV SL http://www.aef-hq.com.au Ventrilo Details IP : V62.DARKSTARLLC.COM Port : 4278 This post has been edited by (AEF)Swordsman{2CAV}: Apr 27 2009, 05:18 -------------------- |

AEF 2CAV now operates 2x Armed Assault servers running the latest versions of ACE, with one of the best performing servers currently operating in Australia - tested with 30+ players in 3 hour + operations and no issues.
Friday nights are now run as our "organised" mission night, members of the public are now welcome to join ventrilo and participate. See first post for details of server. *original post updated* This post has been edited by (AEF)Swordsman{2CAV}: Apr 27 2009, 05:08 -------------------- |
