I got Arma 2 since his release and i have addons, i check armassault info alot blablabla, my game plays ok i got some stuff in highest some stuff in medium, etc
Well my point is, i just wonder, whats up with low FPS, my pc specs are: Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory Ram: 4GB Hard Drive: 1 TB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Operating System: Windows Vista™ Ultimate (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.090302-1506) I see videos on youtube, or just the addon makers of arma 2,etc. For my view, i would say i got a standard good pc, not a ultimater killer but ok. I have been playing and i notice, almost in any island addon, etc if i take out grass game runs fine, and yes i got a addon to make grass short. In Utah the game is super, i can make 10000 and its super FPS. Of course its small Now any other map its slows me down due to grass, or stupid forests... but if i take out grass, it works fine i guess Also noticed if i take out anti analising and grass i can basicly take game on max but without anti analasing looks crap. I wonder if every one i mentioned (Youtube vids and addon makers that shows addons, etc) got top pcs with 8gbs ram and GTX295 and latest ATIs,etc or is my game/system screwed up, ARMA 2 manages to be the only game of all, When i say all, I MEAN ALL, i tryed all games, ARMA 2 is the top killer Even when i had 8800GT in ARMA1 it worked fine with maxim quality and big view and with grass on. Before patch, i could run arma 2 in maxs with no probs, patch 1.02 made game slow Thanks |

To make some rational answer, tell us about your screen and the resolution you are playing with and what do you mean by "low FPS".
On my own rig [E6600+4GoRam+4870_1Go+old 17" CRT at 1280x1024] I get 25/30 FPS as an average on Chernarus playing with 3000m view distance and post treatment on off+ anisotropic filtering on low. Of course I can get 20/23 FPS in Electrozavodsk and Tchernogorsk and 60 FPS when flying above the Green Sea. It looks like this 60 FPS value is the max I can get from my rig, it's the same value on a desert map, without any object, I have tested ... as a map maker. -------------------- |

You should post your exact settings, and what screen you are using at what resolution as Old Bear said. Also anything beyond 25 is good for your particular system if you have everything set to highest/medium.
It looks like this 60 FPS value is the max I can get from my rig, it's the same value on a desert map, without any object, I have tested ... as a map maker. It's most likely the maximum refresh rate (hertz) of your CRT at that kind of resolution (high for a 17", setting a lower resolution would mean a maximum of around 70-75hz). The monitor is almost certainly the "problem" here. I.e., I used to have a 17" CRT that was capable of 60hz (and so 6FPS) at 1024X768 in OFP on the empty Desert Island. Now I have a TFT that only gets up to 60hz, but I can run it at 1920X1080, still with maxed out FPS on Desert Island. Much better resolution, same FPS. It would probably manage 75FPS as well if I had a screen capable of that. It's the screen holding back what the computer is really capable of, although anything beyond 30FPS isn't really noticeable, and any capacity the computer has left while maxed out on FPS will be essentially wasted (nice to have some spare reserves though ) -------------------- |
