Hello everybody!

What is this?

I'd like to present a mod I'm making, called Burning Sands: Africa '42. As you can gather from the name, it's set in Africa, Northern Africa to be precise, in 1942. What's it going to be about? Well WWII in North Africa. At first a bit fictional, concering locations. The gear and troops are being made historically accurate, so the only fictional part is going to be the island, considering that I'm working alone and making a part of NA would be just too much for me.

Can I help?

Yes you can! If you can model, texture, code or make islands then do not hesitate to contact me via PM or via my email:

errormuncher [_at] gmail [dot] com

I'd like to ask...

Got a question? Ask it!

Images:

Some renders and screenshots, beware some of these are rather old and have changed much already:

British troops WIP:

SMLE:

Tommy gun:

German troops WIP:

Renders:

Universal carrier

This is impressive! worship.gif
But will you make also Italian units? In the desert the war was fighted firstly by the italians.

I am not an expert but if you want to assign me some simple work with Oxigen2 I can try to do them thumbsup.gif
i have made a Carcano M91 (Italian simple rifle of WWI) model with Oxigen for Arma but its not good as yours SMLE or your thompson!

Great looking models! I also like the look of that Tommy Gun biggrin.gif
We are really spoilt for choice with all these WW2 Mods that are popping up biggrin.gif Great stuff

Any chance of putting a Bren gun on that universal carrier. As I am sure you will know they had one mounted on the front sometimes. I think that would be great fun!

No Italians for now. Maybe later. I have my hands full with the germans and british as it is.

Can I see a pic of the stuff you made?

Your Thompson is the BEST made for OFP or ArmA ever. The textures are just awesome, love that wood. And the same with SMLE. And the Jerry's, soo beatiful. I mean...
OMG boppin2.gif
Just please finish your work so we can all enjoy it sometime!!!
And again... OMG boppin2.gif

Not really, the thompson in the render is rather old and I believe the newer one I made is better. It's far from the best. I've yet to fully finish the normal maps and specular maps on all the weapons.

But thanks for the compliments none the less.

The wrinkles on the clothing are looking good, though at some spots it looks kinda... shiny. I think it's because of the brighter areas next to the darker ones on the bumps. Or the strenght of the normal mappings, I'm not sure... Otherwise it's looking really promising!
