Ok so after about 4 months I still don't have my SLI mode running O.o
Have the latest drivers for the gfx cards all the vista hot fixes still no joy :/ Basically I try to run ArmA or any other game and I get tearring or white flashing and then the screen will freeze meaning a system restart. I've tried to look for this problem on the SLI nvida foums but no joy there either. It was a prebuilt system, 2.4Ghz quadcore, 2x 8600GS cards 4Gb of ram, im unsure what is causing it, although im thinking it might be the PSU as it's only a 400watt. Any help would be great or if anyone has had this prob then please tell me how to fix it, currently just running one card so i can still play my games but would enjoy so much to have SLI running. P.S when I enable SLI mode it runs fine on the desktop soon as I go into any game it's messed up, so thats ArmA, CoD4, Americas Army. But Entropia Universe works for an hour at least before the screen freezes and I have to restart my comp. Thx for any help HellsWarrior |

SLI and CrossFire are not supported, since ArmA only supports a single GPU, just like multi-core processors are not supported either
Also I highly doubt they will completely redesign the game to allow for either of these two to work. I don't know about those other games, but I think it should work in CoD4, so I guess it is a problem related to your setup. -------------------- |

America's Army doesn't support multi-cores either!

I would remove all SLI related drivers and programs, shut the system down, take the cards out (maybe even swap them around), put them back in, boot the system and reinstall SLI (I'm guessing there is a manual for this either with the mainboard, or with the GPUs). It does seem though that the power supply is a little weak though, I wouldn't use anything below 550 watts when running SLI. -------------------- |

Thx for the replys and sorry miss read ur first post JdB was not totally awake at the time.
This system was a prefab although I hate them and would rather custom build one it was smthin I had to get last minuite, it's a packard bell prefab so dunno if they didn't test the system but if from what I read else where that the PSU I have isn't powerful enough then packard will need to be sending a new more powerful PSU to me. I have the issues in other games too like CoD4 which does support SLI. I've changed the cards around only thing I haven't done is to uninstall all SLI software and try to reinstall it all. Just seems strange that packard would sell a product that dosen't do what it's mean't to do :/ One last question but I think it's either a CPU issue or vista, smoke within games seems to lag my system to hell, but the game runs complete fine just when it gets smokey or high particle explostions happen the system lags. CPU is a 2.4Ghz quad core, didn't have probs on my old system with a 3.4Ghz dual core but the OS was XP with that one also, any ideas with that small prob would be grand and I will try to fix my SLI issues. Thx for the help HellsWarrior |

Well, at work we call them "Packard Hell" for a reason I also get lag in some games when smoke is seen, particles are just a strain on the system since I can imagine there are many variables to calculate. -------------------- |
