Of course the first obligatory mod one makes in ArmA? A custom face...
Name on back of head and tatt's... did the old... paa -> tga (using texview) -> PShop -> jpg -> (config.cpp + jpg) into pbo 2 things to note... 1. the 'person' paa's are 1024x1024 with contents of... left/right of head front/back of head eyes, nose, ears, arm (front/back), leg, hands, fingers 2. the class structure has changed slightly for ArmA for CfgFaces. class CfgFaces { class Man { class Sy { name="Sy"; texture="\Sy\Sy_ArmA_1.jpg"; east=1; west=1; }; }; }; |

Cool, my face will beat it though
For those who didn't know, you can use your own face in ArmA without making an addon of it. Just save the face as a jpg file in "C:\Documents and Settings\Your name\...\ArmA Other Profiles\Your username", and in game, from your account options, select the face named "Custom". |

Haven't started yet, but will give a pre-version for SrK soon for testing.
After doing nearly 10 face textures for Llaumas head v2, I think I'm getting quite good at the thing... guess it can't be that much harder. If I get it right soon, I can give you a hand, Deadeye. Nothing guaranteed, though. And as a final, tad OT, übercool/mean look in good ol' OFP. Nice tattos there, btw. -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

Its easier to modify an existing one, IE change the skin tone eye colour hair colour etc

Errr...
1. Get a template to work on, to get everything in the correct place. Either from somewhere in the internet or by unpacking some files to find a pic of it (they're in .paa or .pac in ArmA too?) 2. Open the picture in your picture editor. You can use paint if you want, but that's pretty much insane, especially with ArmA mapping. Photoshop or similar, i.e. the freeware GIMP, is very good for the purpose. 3. Start editing, as you wish (implement elements, draw... whatever you want). 4a. Save it as a .tga (Targa) file 4b. Save it as a .jpg (JPEG) file. 5. Open the .tga file in PAnTool or similar and save it as a .pac or .paa (not needed if you chose the b option) 6. Slap the texture (.jpg, .paa or .pac) into a file. 7. Write a config for it (as shown above, also templates available online). 8. Pack it into a .pbo file. 9. Drop it into your Addons folder. 10. Start fooling around ingame with the new faces (either by using setface command in editor or choosing the face from player options)! (optional for JPEG) 11. Instead of saving it as a .tga, and doing the converting and packing and stuff, put the .jpg texture into you user folder (this works in ArmA too I suppose?) and choose "custom face" from player options (that's how it's done in OFP, anyways). -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

LOL I had this error in OFP
many of my faces inverted and turned in strange ways so his hair was on his mouth and mouth was where his hair should be, looked awesome! this sounds mightily complicated! would be ace if someone could make a program to do it! Will give it a go when I get my copy of Armed Assault, are ones made in OFP transferable? -------------------- |

LOL I had this error in OFP many of my faces inverted and turned in strange ways so his hair was on his mouth and mouth was where his hair should be, looked awesome! That's because you had the face verticle (like you see a face in real life). Turn it 90 degrees anticlockwise and it will work fine |
