So if one is looking to make some mods, to start off with, let's say retexturing a standard infantrymen into a different uniform....how would one go about making that new infantryman?

Obviously, lots of tools and graphics editing programs will be required...but is it a sort of "Get a real-life picture of it, open up the tools, take the standard model, try to get the model to look like the picture" routine?

Sorry if it seems like a stupid question, but inquiring minds want to know. helpsos.gif

Thanks in advance.

well, it's a hell of work, making a whole new MOD!

first off, you need to have a good group of developers, so:

2-4 model-texture makers

10-15 beta testers

6-8 mission & Campaign makers

1-2 project leaders

1-2 CPP-BIN-GUI developers

in any case, if you can do all of these works,it's the best! but you could die in this case... graduated.gif

then when starting a MOD, make sure you have a clear IDEA of what you want to obtain...

so don't waste time to make something that can be done as the last thing!

First, if you want to make a new MOD, intended as a WHOLE MODIFICATION, you need to start making everything from scratch... models, textures, scripts, configs, GUI... everything!

Otherwise, if you are planning to make a MODIFICATION of the game (in this case, ArmA) then you just need to edit (or sometimes add) models, textures, and everything related to them

for Example, CSLA 2, or INV44 are whole modifications of OFP, BAS or SEBNAM are modifications that adds new units, new models, but they don't modify the GUI (Grapchic User interface) or the main config.cpp...

then you need to make your site (if you want) as advertising space...

finally, make news, entries and so on...

if you are planning this type of work... well, I'm already involved in a MOD, BHD MOD... good luck! sweatingbullets.gif

And last but not least, you would need the official tools, which have not been released yet wink.gif
