Well, that sucks.

(What even is a discord? Is it like a myspace? From Wittmann's PM it sounds like some kind of forum, but I thought it was something like IRC?)

Isn't Mark from Manchester? Not that he'd ever visit an Arianda Grande concert, but here's hoping he's okay.

Pretty sure he's from Birmingham. It's like Manchester, but imagine if Manchester was where hipsters went to when London became "too mainstream" for them.

Look, I'm willing to respect anyone who correctly handles their facial hair. Irresponsible beard owners make us all look bad!

(But, wait, Andi, aren't Islamic fundamentalists forbidden from shaving? Are you an ISIS sympathizer too!?)

I went outside and there were victorian style barber shops everywhere. Everywhere. Like, you know those places that would normally be trashy tattoo parlours or shitty hipster " gourmet coffee bars"? They're all barber shops now.

Has the world been overtaken by some kind of weird shaving cult while I was hibernating? Should I invest in additional beard security?

'eh, given modern societies lax rules on what actual constitutes "pork" these days, I'm not sure that's good enough. The only way you can prove you aren't a Muslim now is to acknowledge that Capybara are, in fact, fish.

With the amount of sexual partners that the average person has had and the socially accepted practice of cheating polygamy is a bit of a moot point imo. Getting married is going out of fashion, but polygamy is very much alive, just now mostly without the actual ring on the finger.

Ok, Final Question: Do you consider dogs and/or pigs to be "unclean"?

QUOTE(Wittmann @ Mar 29 2017, 07:21) *
Oh that wasn't for the website. That funded high end liquor, high end call girls for John and Andi, bribes to pay off witnesses when disposing of deceased call girls (Looking at you John!) and other projects. For instance, did you know that rhesus monkeys are highly susceptible to behavior modification if they become addicted to cocaine? Lets just say a small uninhabited island, a fuck tonne of monkeys and enough coke to make it look like a snow globe makes for way more entertainment than "Survivor" or "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here."

News hound wise - can we get this show back on the road? We don't exactly have a community any longer. Not sure if that is a result of Armaholic competing during the ArmA II days or if the switch with ArmA III to Steam and it's own inbuilt community forums and content sharing platforms have effectively killed the ongoing relevance of sites such as this one. I suspect a factor is also that the larger modding groups for total conversions ect are finding it more difficult to create larger, total conversion mods and campaigns in the new engine or that the manpower, knowledge and willingness to do so has eroded with a focus on the larger realism mods and content for MP. I do miss the likes of CSLA, FDF, ect.

That's the beauty of it, see, Steam's file sorting is a complete cluster-fuck, there's "new stuff that's in the wrong category", "popular stuff that's in the wrong category", and "more popular stuff that's in the wrong category", but their servers are actually sort of ok, which was where we were having problems. All most people used Armaholic for until their latest "brilliant move" was getting news on what was being released, updated, etc, since their file servers were shite unless you ponied up for "premium access". So it seems to me, all we need to do is what we used to do, except instead of having a link to download files off our server, we just link to the steam page, six, or whatever. Do a bit of whoreing out of the site out on Biforums and the various subreddits, so people remember it actually exists, and this place could probably be back in business no time.

And when I say "we", I mean, "someone else". Hence: newshounds. tongue.gif

I dunno, though, I'm not sure the state of the actual servers for the site, maybe if more than 4 people actually used it, it might throw a hissy fit.

...I thought you paid the bills? All these "you haven't paid your bills", "we're repossessing your house because you haven't paid your bills" and "your house was awful so we're taking your kidneys as well" letters that keep getting sent to me are all in your name.

Actually, you haven't - I haven't had any Birthdays for the last few years. I was finding the "ageing" thing to be a bit tedious, so, I just decided to stop. It's working out pretty well, to be honest, I'm surprised more people aren't doing it.

Oh. I can't do that, I don't actually have a computer. I just do all this forum stuff by mail. unsure.gif

I guess I could just get a fork and shove it into a wall socket, then use my own body to bridge the circuit between the fork and the USB port? Would that work? boppin2.gif

Isn't that kind of the whole point of a self-destructing murder weapon? That you don't have to try and smuggle a bloodcaked sharp object away from the scene of a stabbing?

Everyone knows the best way to kill someone is by tricking them into posting on an online forum... that you've poisoned!

More seriously, though, if I was going to kill someone, I'd get one of those USB hard drives, take the actual drive out, and stuff it with some kind of explosive. Then just send it to them in the post or something. It's just about insane enough to work.

This isn't working... quick, point out an inconvenient truth to his jingoistic ways... er... The German National Anthem is just the Austro-Hungarian one with the words changed!

Or is that the British National Anthem? Dammit! In my slightly drunk state all National Anthems sound the same! If only there was a way we could determine our inbred royals were better than every one else's inbred royals who are genetically speaking, alarming identical (thanks, incest!) with a song that was distinct to our nation! Quick! Let's raid the crazy moose-people Finno-Ugrics for a few extra musical notes and chromosomes!

So, can we address the fact that Spain is still using Franco's flag? I think they changed the emblem or something when they got rid of him, but why not go back to the old "good guy" flag?

I mean, Germany went whole-hog and completely did away with the Black/white/red flag after their "episode", what gives Spain!? (ok, technically Weimar used the Schatzrotgelt, but that whole thing lasted, like, 5 minutes, so who cares?)

EDIT: Also, while we're on the subject of no particular subject, the whole sci-fi/fantasy trope of chicks who have four arms also having 4 norks, scientifically speaking, kinda bullshit. There's no correlation between number of limbs and number of boobs in mammals. Outside of mammals, there's no tits. Hence, the term "mammal", which literally means "things that have funbags".

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have green-skinned space-babes with double the sex-appeal of regular earth-based ladytypes, but, I mean, come on, the possibilities are endless in that regard, but, having a 1:1 arm:boobs ratio just doesn't really upscale that well... could you imagine having 8 arms? Crabs have 8 arms, they aren't sexy at all!

(Ok, maybe crabs only have, like, 4 arms tops, but I never claimed to be a marine biologist!)
