Why the hell is every enemy in this game a friggin' ÜBER SNIPER?

While I'm having a bit of difficulty lining up my targets with an M24 at 800+ meters, a grunt shoots me (from that same distance) dead on spot with a plain 'ol AK74 with iron sights!!! What the hell????

Worst of all, they get me with the first shot! Impossible. You can't even see your target at that distance without a scope.

Not even OFP cheated this much!

Is there any available tweak or Mod to correct this? A precision or realism mod?
Don't get me wrong, the game is AWESOME, but this cheating is really getting on my nerves.

I'm playing version 1.08 btw.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Well, go to options and turn off "Super AI" or whatever its called.

I suggest you patch to 1.14 at least also. While the highest is 1.16 you don't really need it.

Firstly I hope you are not using ACE because that is rediculous for this type of thing and secondly check your difficulty settings, make sure all AI settings both friend and enemy are set to NORMAL and thirdly (is that a word? lol) this is a type of game "feature" because once any AI are aware of you being there they all become aware of you knowing exactly where you are. All you can do is to relocate often and try to use solid things as cover like big rocks or bus stops. Trees can not and will no protect you at all.

As a sidenote I sincerely hope that BIS do something about this in the sequel. rolleyes.gif

Open up your ArmA profile config file with Notepad and edit the precision definitions in the difficulty settings. That'll make them less accurate. I used precision level 0.5 or something if I can remember right and was quite happy with the results. Try playing around with it. The level can be from 0.0 to 1.0.

If you want good AI but not too accurate, I'd suggest setting their skill level to full but give them high precision level. That way they'll aim fast but aren't too accurate.

Awesome! Thanks!
The enemy precision was actually in 0.85 setting!
As you recommended, I lowered it to 0.50 and upped the AI. Now it's a more realistic trial and error event for them!

Thanks again.
