Blackscorpy, you've seen Mark's throwing stuff list, you know full well he's insane...

either that or he's some sort of mule... which brings about the question as to how he can use a computer, nevermind an airsoft rifle... weirdsmiley.gif

QUOTE(Blackscorpion @ Sep 8 2007, 22:59) *
Until they bring in the armed forces... Jan 30, 1972 for example.

Sad thing... as are the "miscases" of airsoft. Just fooling around. Doesn't banning airsoft guns also mean that the people misusing them might also be couraged to maybe get a real firearm?

GIJOE... 1600 rounds per minute? Doesn't that put one helluva stress on the mechanics? And well... if it's shooting ball bearings out to 200ft ('bout twice the normal max effective range, given especially muzzle velocity), are you even allowed to use it anywhere? Sounds like a fully automatic pellet gun. "Working parts replaced by electric ones", does that mean it has a MOSFET or something? It's kinda hard to fire an AEG without a cylinder, unless it's a gauss gun that is. Plus the choise of BBs is determined rougly by your needs and the muzzle energy of the gun. The more fps in stock form, the heavier the ammunition. Energy doesn't change, after all.

Plus I doubt that any AEG (with single barrel) shoots at 3000 rounds per minute... that'd just expose the parts to unneeded stress. Seen few AS gatlings though - atleast one Finnish guy actually has one. Looks mean with Terminator set. tongue.gif

*drools*

I only read it out of the manual. It is very powerful. It advises you not to constantly fire it and fire 3-5 shots at a time. I use it in the entry of our house, so no one can see what I'm shooting (Mostly tin cans and stuff). The minimi said it shoots that much because it shared the parts with tokoyo marui (If thats how you spell it) and runs of a box magazine. Good though. You seen wolf armories minigun! Blew the crap out of a telly.

From the Community Chatter thread...

QUOTE
Damn i got my self looking at airsoft too now... *just must have a gun or two*

Edit: ok i got a list, all "pro" airsoft people comment this list please.
Edit2: I added a pistol to the list now too

QUOTE
12 Bags Marui 0.2g BB ( 42000 Pellets )
Marui Short Type Pro Silencer
Marui Barrel Mount for Laser & Flash Light ( All AEGs )
Marui M4A1 New Type ( Beginner AEG Package ) which contains
- Marui M4A1 New Type
- AE 300 Rds Magazine for M16/M4 ( 2pcs )
- Excel Biodegradable 0.2g BB ( 3700 Pellets / 2 Bags )
- JCE 3-Point Tactical Sling ( OD )
- Survival Game Mask ( OD )
- Mil Force 34 inch Rifle Bag ( Black )
- BOL BASIC-01 Charger
- Intellect 8.4V 1200mAh Mini Type Ni-MH Battery ( 2pcs )

Marui M92F Magazine ( For Spring Pistol Only ) (2pcs)
Marui Spring 92F ( Hop-up Version )

Grand Total Price US$550.5 (minus shipping)

is that cheap or expensive?

Bought my CA M15 used. Works well. Charger, battery, GP 30mm Aimpoint copy, 4 regular (68 rnd) mags... 350 euros including postals. Add to that BBs (Super King .2 g biodegradables) and my qualified mask (which I haven't used yet), which would be roughly 40 euros more.

I'm assuming you're ordering that abroad - WGC or RedWolf? Good thing for you... USD is at its lowest at the moment. Good for importing USD-priced stuff. With the current rates, the package will cost rougly 3050 NOK plus shipping and customs.

From what I've read... consider a G36. Especially a Jing Gong G36C - Chinese copy of the TM one, haven't tested it but I haven't managed to find a bad review about it yet, either. And yeah, it's said to be 100% (well, about 98-99% atleast) compatible. What's best, it costs about 80 USD, and unlike the big manufacturers, they also give you a mag (hi-cap one... but so are the ones you'd buy for your M4, apparently), charger (which doesn't fit most/any (isolated) European plugs rofl.gif ) and a battery. Plus some BBs.

The pistol... upon your choise. I do have one, an old Beretta I bought (well, it was bought for me) for about 15 euros from some car part shop YEARS ago. Still hits some stuff tho', and I gave it to a friend of mine when we went softing for the first (and so far, only) time.

It will mostly be a M4 because the TM got it in a "beginner pack" from that site. For Elliot: The Pistol is spring. a gas or electric one would make it go a bit over what i can afford soon. i made the list from www.wgcshop.com and camo cloths and vest i will get later

In my opinion forget the pistol for now and get a rifle or SMG or whatever. Once I can find a way to sort mine out next year I'm gonna have enough money for a TM M1a SOCOM or alike...

Anyone know where I can get a cheap drum magazine that fits the ak series? I've looked for ages and they're all around $140 (70 GBP)

Dude, 30 rounds isn't much in airsoft. I know because I got "killed" with a 70 rounder (which I'd already used a bit of beforehand).

Untested Scorpy starter package, provided by WGC. boppin2.gif

Mil-Force 34 inch rifle bag - 25 USD
Jing Gong G36C - 80 USD
Sansei SG5 mask - 16.50 USD
2x Intellect 8.4V 1200 mAh NiMH batteries - 39 USD
JCE 3-point tactical sling - 16 USD
2x TM G36 470 round mags - 62 USD
King Arms XL size BB loader - 12 USD
24 bags of .25 g Marui BBs (circa 48000 BBs, you'll never run out of ammo biggrin.gif ) - 180 USD
BOL BASIC01 charger - 30 USD

460.5 USD. That's 48000 BBs, 3 mags and 3 batteries, keep in mind. weirdsmiley.gif Another options would include some other type of battery (or just 1 or 2 - should be enough), maybe some other mask and possibly some other mags. Depends on what you want - MAG makes 100 round mags but the 2x pack (18 USD) is out of stock as of now. BBs are also an issue to think of - what kind of trajectory and quality do you want, and how much you're shooting.

Carver, others - whaddya think?

GIJOE... Here's one.

QUOTE
Hop-Up or HopUp: When a bb is shot from an airsoft gun, there is a friction placed on the upper side of the bb while exiting the barrel. This friction causes the bb to "spin upward" or a backwards / under spin. This mechanism is called the Hop-Up. The Hop-Up configuration determines the range of bbs or extend the effective range of an airsoft rifle. Most spring airsoft guns come equipped with "built-in" Hop Up which is not adjustable nor calibrated. However, higher end models, such as gas airsoft pistols and electric airsoft rifles can be adjusted or calibrated both to the type of BB being used and the flight path desired. The below diagram illustrates the effects of hopup and how to callibrate your airsoft gun correctly. Towards the bottom of diagram it coveres the bernoulli's principle and it's effect on the path of a BB with hopup.

That help wink.gif?

It creates a backspin for the BB, which kinda acts like rifling of normal rifles, in a way - it creates a momentum that counters the effects of gravity, in effect giving the guns a lot longer range. Does somewhat negatively effect accuracy, though, but it's offset by the range AS guns are used at. For sniper rifles, "solid" HopUp (the unit is part of the barrel) is somewhat prefertable, as it's factory calibrated for certain ammunition.

As for the springers... well, dunno. Mine cost about 15 euros, as I said, and is closer to 8 years old now. Still pretty useful as an extreme backup, though. I suggest you get something reasonably priced, pretty good gun that you personally like and that features hop-up.

Not really.

It basically puts a spin on the pellet, a little like rifling on a barrel except hop up acts vertically on it. The spinning means the pellet will travel more accuratly and wont go in such random directions. The hopup you put on the greater the spin, so the greater the accuracy I guess. It makes the pellet drop much quicker though.

I got the hop on my M16VN set up perfectly and have a scope fitted to the carry handle. Got 4 "shorty" mags for it also, and a tactical vest for holding them in. I love airsoft biggrin.gif
