I'm currently in love with GTA San Andreas again.

Started to play last week, during my holiday and now can't stop. I'm already in the third city of the hughe island and doing jobs for the Mafia.

I guess it has one of the most intensive stories, even as good as the OFP story. I really like how the different character are displayed and the like. You get to know many people and their traits and faits.

PS:
Never had that much fun cruising with the chopper through the country!

Just finished career mode in NFS: Carbon, having mixed feelings about it, it's almost identical to last 2-3 releases of the game, but I play them anyways, sort of tradition. I wish they would make something like NFS4: High Stakes.

Graphics-wise, the game is superb, but it doesn't look convincing, at least to me. Motion blur is awful and I turned it off, it really ruins the feel. Since EA is going with the "game-color-coding", MW had orange tint, this one has a purpleish feel to it. Also, it's filled with disco-like features, Scout people in your crew emit two pink-purple lines behind them, Drafters have some kind of blue draft area behind them, most of the menus have some kind of disco lines going around. Not really impressed, but hey, it's EA.

Toyota Supra I finished the career with:

I didn't even know this is already released. Or did you play the console version?

But you're right, since NFS Underground the games are most likely the same: Tune up your car, get upgrades for winning races etc.

My favourite NFS part is still NFS: Porsche. High detailed damage model, you could upgrade your car aswell but no nonsense style tuning, no real part chaning in the engine etc. And at least, Porsche a dream of every German.

Took 2 pictures in GTA, that's him CJ, Carl Johnson.

No, this is the PC version, and yeah, it's been out for couple of days I think.

I liked Porsche too, I especially enjoyed speeding down autobahn in a 911. smile.gif

Posted by: King Homer Nov 5 2006, 13:16

Yes, nothing is better than speeding with an 911 Turbo. I sat in one in reality, not as driver but the feeling was great aswell. Damn, it's a shame it doesn't run properly on WinXP systems (tried it once).

Works fine, you just need a patch.

http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/digitalwarfarestudios/download/nfs_5_enhanced_20040310.rar. You need the 3.5 update to be installed (I think it's an unofficial update).

After applying it the game worked perfectly.

Posted by: King Homer Nov 5 2006, 18:22

Thank you very much John, didn't know such a patch exists! Finally I'm able to play NFS Porsche again. 911, I'm coming!

Posted by: Wittmann Nov 5 2006, 23:26

Quick JdB, find an online game mode that allows caravans!

Bought a new strategy game yesterday, will give you all a run down when I have time to test it smile.gif

I started playing IL-2 again (+ all addons --> Forgotten Battles/Aces Expansion Pack/Pacific Fighters). Just awesome, this game. The physics in this game rock and the cockpits too... only the missions are a bit boring sometimes because you have to fly very far to reach your mission objective

I enjoyed IL-2 aswell because of the realistic damage system but for me it was somewhat difficult...
I did never hit anything with bombs and my joystick was really f***ed up, I couldn't win any dogfight.

Posted by: x-ray Nov 6 2006, 19:12

As i said, its really hard, but if you get used to it, its "easy". You jsut have to practice throwing bombs in editor... and of course you need a good joystick laugh.gif

True but I favour the B-29.

Talking about the B-29, the only thing I'm missing in modern air combat simulations are nuclear weapons. Sure it's some kind sadistic but hey it's a game only. I wanna' blow stuff up and best way to do it: nukes. I always wanted to fly in 30.000 feet dropping a big bang. boppin2.gif

Posted by: x-ray Nov 7 2006, 00:00

hm, i prefer a bomb bay full of parafrag bombs... the ultimate weapon against enemy planes on the ground naughty.gif

Posted by: Wittmann Nov 7 2006, 00:03

Well Homer your in luck.

The new expansion for Combat Flight Simulator 3 has a mission editor available with B29 and the two operation nuclear weapons from 45...you can go drop one on Hiroshima, Berlin, hell, even Paris!

Not unless they map it out tongue.gif Bomb Sydney....I can live with that. Having a scenario for the bombing of Darwin could be interesting

Posted by: King Homer Nov 7 2006, 14:51

This remembers me of the "End of the World" animation.

And Australia's still down there like WTF?

I decided to buy CF3, got money from working today. Nukes, I'm coming! ^^

Posted by: x-ray Nov 7 2006, 15:52

I wonder what happens if you shoot that plane down in that game... Will the bomb detonate or not? Homer, test it! boppin2.gif

Posted by: Sniperwolf572 Nov 7 2006, 16:02

Mmmmm, nukes. smile.gif

Well, I've been playing SC: Double Agent today. Graphics are impressive as ever, but a big hit on my system, game averages around 25-30FPS. blink.gif

Gameplay is similar to previous parts, with minor differences. I hate the new "action menu" and inventory system, I so got used to the one from previous releases. I also don't like the decision to remove subtitles, with the some kind of odd audio system, it's hard to hear the radio dialog, at least for me. Maybe I'm going deaf with all the rock music from my MP3 player. boppin2.gif

Anyhoo, this is how it looks on my rig (No AA since HDR is enabled):

Okay, just bought some new hardware today:

AMD 64 X2 4000+
Asus M2NE Mainboard
2048 MB DDR2 PC800 Corsair RAM
Asus Geforce 7950GT

With that system I'll test all new games, from SC over CoH to CFS3.

MTW2 released this friday. apperently is the best yet, the good RTW if you will. a good religion system is back and so is dread laugh.gif

Posted by: King Homer Nov 8 2006, 07:03

Yeah I was in the local electronic store yesterday and it was presented with lot of posters, full scale plastic statues etc but it's not the type of game I'm playing.

The new RWM 6.7 mod will be released soon for Sudden Strike 2. Hopefully Wittmann will get his game working so we shall have a nice game together.

RWM = Real Warfare Mod, a long time developed mod since the release of Sudden Strike back in 2000.

wow very nice, theyve pyt bren gun carriers in! the one thing that always stood out to me in that game is the great artillary bombardments you can make and the fact you can replenish troops.

Posted by: King Homer Nov 8 2006, 15:10

Hehe, yes, a good prepared attack with Jagdtiger and smaller tanks for his back and flanks and you're as good as unstoppable.

2 Tiger II's to his left and right and 4 ore more Tigers as backup and Stalin can go home.

I mean, that 128mm basically blows up everything with one shot.

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Nov 8 2006, 16:41

better still make a line of tenches with at guns behind, send out a scout car and get enemy armor to chase you back.

Posted by: Wittmann Nov 8 2006, 16:45

Huzzah! After reinstall without patching she works! And Ive got RWM 2.6!

personally as of yesterday Ive been playing the Ciais realism mod for COD2 with a sensible blood mod...none of that spray everywhere crap...looks good and plays nice. smile.gif

Yes but its not turned absed and you need it to be so for the bigger game that are battalion sized wink.gif

For company sized I prefer CC5 and its mods

I'm kinda disappointed about Call of Duty, both 1 and 2. I always completed the games after 3 hours of getting and installing them. blink.gif

I've now started playing Battlefield 2. It isn't really bad, the Single Player is just too easy, even with the hardest difficulty. And the multiplayer is even easier when playing with my dad and his friends. Malajn.gif

Posted by: King Homer Nov 9 2006, 08:42

Well, BF2 isn't supposed to be difficult smile.gif

It's made for beginners, easy shooting, easy driving.

OFP is for average players, many BF players failed where the average OFP player was winner.

ArmA will be for average+ gamers aswell.

Can I just throw into the mix Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater?

WOW! I rented it from the local store yesterday, 12 hrs later I was sitting in front of my PC with my jaw on the floor going "Good god, that is the 2nd best game I have ever played" whereas OFP is #1. It has the best storyline in any game that I have ever played, great graphics and realism, great maps, great camerawork etc. Just a tops game smile.gif

I'm buying it purley for the MP Copy of rolleyes.gif They do roleplaying servers and shit too with players acting as police, ambulance, fire, taxis etc... laugh.gif

I played the Multi Theft Auto mod for Vice City on LAN. It was fun for a couple of times but it was very laggy blues.gif. Don't know if it's the same deal with San Andreas.

COD 2 is good for weapons meaning - inclusion of grease gun and shotgun... those are what i own with, and the STG is better

Anyone of you tested FEAR:XP already. I'm stuck at level after leaving the subway. I'm on that Parking deck but nothing happens, the screen remains black and I only see crosshair and so on. Sounds are working, FPS is good but nothing to see. Anyone has the same problem here?

What about video drivers etc Homer? Although you already said that you could play it before on full hmmsmiley02.gif

I like CoD2 with the Xtreme MP mod, makes it more interesting and adds a health bar plus promotion system for the round, rewards are more health packs to use, call in mortars or arty, more nades and smokes....admiral mod is OK too.

CoD2 MP vanilla is shite and unrealistic, I only like to play this at work via LAN with my mates, but as a shooter I say BS to those who get a shot on you from the hip with a bolt action, its VERY hard to do so.

Ciais realism mod for SP is nice as well, cant play without it now. Not many UO servers in AUS tho so I haven't reinstalled it.

CoH and CC5 with El Alamein mod is occupying my attention right now smile.gif

UT2003 was quite fun playing it but I could never establish my position in such a community. Playing for skill isn't my target in any way.
People just fighting each other to become the best of something really unnecessary is just dumb.
ESL an Co are for those people who must compensate something they can't do in reality.

i second that one, i play DoD source to relieve stress. nothing like sniping a few dumb 12 year old americans as a german sniper as the run up the road with BAR's and Thompsons Copy of rolleyes.gif

but i cant get into the community , too informal , too many people, i like to know the people im talking too (as much as you can know somone over the internet).

Hit the nail on the head there Homer + Trev. I only like DoD:S for the graphics and physics, and what you said trev, shooting americans with the sniper rifle and seeing them fall Copy of rolleyes.gif
On another note, anyone ever looked at the facepunch forums for Gmod? Strikes me it's one of the worst communities around tiredsmiley.gif They ban you because they dont like you, or because you make too many spelling mistakes o.o

i find the CS community, and HL2 connected communties in general very arogent. perhaps all the noob bashing has made those who play it and are 'good' recognise themselves as some sort of nobility? Seems to me most best communitys come out of games that brains need to be used for, in other words simulation games. Racing games have great communities, always friendly people on Toca servers, the occasional ass hole rammer but fine apart from that. OFP and flight sim games create a great community, mostly becuase they require a certian level of skill and deter most of the hardcore FPS gamers.

Posted by: LooseKannon Nov 17 2006, 06:22

IL2 Fan? IL2 FAN! I am the IL2 fan! Lets have a game some time man.

Flight sim communities are the nicest out there, I'm sure. When I used to play Combat Flight Simulator 1, 2 and 3 (Microsoft) there was the nicest guys on there. Probably because all the players are over 20 most of the time.

I really have to agree on this. The 'Valve' Community is just absolutely different when compared to the OFP community. Yet I do play CS:S/HL2 because the engine is such remarkable if you ask me. Also, Garry's Mod (a HL2 mod) is always enjoyable.

Well, AA developed a lot since the release in 2002. Back in that year it was really fun playing it, because of the nice realism, good looking graphics and cool training methods. But the current AA and it's community sucks all the way, main factor why it sucks: Honor system. Oh yeah, it pissed me off everytime I played that game, kids telling you they're more intelligent and better than you because they have higher honor etc. No doubt, there are good and fair players out there but they die out.

Hehe, same thing happened to me on COD:UO. (Played through untill the end of the Bastogne campaign, RAM installed = crash)x2

On the subject of America's Army, the training is nice and realistic - but I think sitting in a 3d lecture room for 20 or so minutes is just taking it a little far ¬.¬

Did all training except Medical 2 years ago, don't know if there's something new. Got 40 hits on firing range... and advanced marksman. My favourite weapons was the M82 on Bridge 2 and Mountain Pass and M24 on Bridge.

I enjoy AA but only if I play with my brother or our American friends and we get on TeamSpeak, the honour system is a joke as Ive seen absolute morons with 40 or 50 honour, just they play for so long it accumulates. At least they dindt include 'do you wish to punish for TK' ala BF2, that shits me off at times, they don't look st see what happened, just punish.

I finished all training, even the medical, I actually found the one on symptoms of shock interesting smile.gif

Only servers marked as 'SF' have custom M4s replacing the default weapons, or 'random weps' which is a hodgepodge of many different ones.

Yep, true. But I doubt if the developers of AA care about that (yet I do). Their income will only increase this way i guess. The difficulty was ok, you were still able to complete the whole training. With some effort that is.

its a fictional (oh what do you call it when everything you do in the campaign affects the total campaign?), well anyway that word campaign. its based on the war lasting a year longer and germany further developing there jet program. Basiccly a bit of fun for the Mardox team before they all switch over to battle of britian. there is a realistic campaign with il2's over manchuria aswell. it also includes al previous packs which is why im grabbing it.

edit : oh DYNAMIC!! thats it

depends what game. in rainbow six campers are just asses, they sit behind a door any you dont stand a chance. but on other games i enjoy hunting snipers and killing them in humiliating ways

yes i know that map well. the worst thing is when the attackers decide to sit and defende, just a long standoff. I always like plonking down next to the truck and laying down MG fire to the other side of bridge.

Posted by: King Homer Nov 21 2006, 06:58

THe problem in AA is, there is no real sniping, there is no place where a sniper could hide and take out targets without being seen. You either got shot by some M249 acrobat or blown up by a well placed 40 mm grenade. Your only chance seems to be faster than the others are, but I guess that should always be the case wink.gif

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Nov 21 2006, 09:45

its easier on some of the newer maps, like the middle east towns, with all those holes in buildings to pop up in.

Posted by: King Homer Nov 21 2006, 14:44

Yes but a profi AA player knows them all. There is no real need of a sniper in AA, if he can't take the role as sniper serious!

Posted by: da rat Nov 21 2006, 18:21

That's kinda why I prefer ofp missions with no respawn. You kinda value your life more than on games where ou can just charge forward at a sniper, die, respawn and try again - Your life means nothing, so you dont need to employ tactics

Hey people, i'm thinking of buying the brigade E5 after trying the demo for a while, but there are a few things i want to clear up first.

There is a bug in the demo whereby if you take say a box of ammunition from a corpse and use some of the rounds then you try to put the box back it crashes the game is this persistent within the full version?

Is there a way to regain your stamia once you've been hit?

Regards HH smile.gif

Posted by: Sniperwolf572 Dec 21 2006, 22:54

AFAIK, No such bug with taking ammo exist, or at least, after playing for around 50-60 hours, I didn't run into it. As for the stamina, I patch my guys/girls up at a hospital, and then let them sleep, that way, they are fully recovered. AFAIK there is no way of recovering stamina bar in the battle, at least not when you're hit. If you're just ran out of breath, you can drink some water from the flask to recover it quickly.

Hope it helps. smile.gif

Posted by: Helping Hand Dec 21 2006, 23:58

i think i will get the full game, and yea thats what i do i take a flask and 2x $1700 medipacks as a minimum for my char on the demo (weapons are extras ^^ )

Posted by: Blackscorpion Dec 24 2006, 14:03

Any tips for using i.e. medipacks, remote charges, claymores, weapon kits etc.? Haven't figured out how to use them yet.

Hmmm, guess I need to equip them with some water bottles then, yesterday, when moving into position, Coyote passed out for a moment, I thought he had hit a wall first. tongue.gif

medipacks - right click and then left click... (you need it as your primary weapon)

Mines - the only one i use it the proximity one...

Well, for the Dark Crusade players here, I'm currently playing the SPace Marines campaign but I don't understand why there are so many building limits!

I played the original DoW, and there it was somewhat easier. Now you have a limit for Apothecarius, Plasmagenerators and Bolterturrets but why? I mean I need somewhat more defence than 6 turrets sometimes especially agains Tau...
The long-range missile launchers are shitty and I can't blow'em all up.
Anyone knows how to deactivate that limitations?

Anyone played DoW: Dark Crusade yet?

I play it too much... far too much...
(yay... Orks tongue.gif )

(The Limits are so you don't make an entire army of Terminators, according to fluff each chapter only has access to around 50 suits, Normally people could get through around 5 times that in a single skirmish games...)

( http://dawnofwar.filefront.com/file/Annihilation_Mod;74036 this mods gets rid of a few limitations and adds some mad stuff)

I also bought just cause whici is a good game allthough i havent played it that much today...

Posted by: Blackscorpion Dec 27 2006, 14:09

My E5 demo takes a while to save already... prolly because I got übermad and spent 'bout half a million for stuff. Yeah, I prolly got more guns than the enemy!

Posted by: Blackscorpion Dec 27 2006, 19:48

OK, now it refuses to load my saves, lol!

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Dec 28 2006, 00:25

got the new rainbow six on the 360 today. really cool game, its like a clone of GRAW in may ways though.

Posted by: Helping Hand Dec 28 2006, 13:23

mm from the short time that i was able to play it before it got broke i thought it was good allthough its lost some of the R6 hallmarks, best thing is pickin up terro weapons^^.

TDU is still the best game i've ever played, im driving my Wiesmann GT around and i havea Triumph bike to play with as well now...

Well, I just played the demo of the worst games I have ever encountered. It's offensive, poorly thought up, and unrealistic to name but a few of it's attributes. On top of that, it has an appalingly unoriginal name - "UberSoldier"
The Jewish (world war 2) prisoners are portrayed as zombies, who run screaming up to you and slash at you with their claws... The graphics and physics are quite good though, and with a better plotline - perhaps something that's not shit (?) - It might be fun tiredsmiley.gif

sounds pretty racist if you ask me. sounds almost as worse as Soldner.

Posted by: Helping Hand Jan 3 2007, 18:39

soldner is tolerable at times...

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Jan 3 2007, 18:54

yeh, it had great graphics for its time, single player was appalling, multiplayer could have been great if they took snipers completly out the game.

Posted by: JdB Jan 3 2007, 20:14

From what I heard from some people that actually play(ed) it, it is now pretty playable in MP (after a load of patches).

Posted by: Helping Hand Jan 4 2007, 10:51

the only problem is that at 500MB + for a patch its rather annoying. the idea is good but the game just doesnt live up to expectations.

Btw. It's the game I'm playing the second most.
Now, with the patch (200mb with the new one, you just need one now, don't need the old one anymore, exepted if you don't have Marine Corps I think).
It's really playable, but the fights need real adaptation and nerves, because, as you said, Cal.50 Snipers (espescialy these) are too efective on long range (instant hit, no speedbalistics).

Short question: Does anyone know a strategy game with some (fictional) Cuban Crisis storyline? Should be realistic and no round-based strategy game.
Or something playing in similar time (60s-80s). I have the SuSt 2 clone Cold War Conflicts but it's too unrealistic and too difficult to mod.

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Jan 21 2007, 13:17

i think theres a modern mod for Hearts Of Iron 2. Not sure how good it is but might be worth checking out.

Posted by: King Homer Jan 21 2007, 13:20

Well that doesn't help me in any way. I don't know whats Hearts of Iron 2 neither I do know where to get special mods for it. Would be nice if you could add some links to your post.
Furthermore I prefer full games instead of mods smile.gif

I've been playing the demo for Dark Messiah of Might and Magic alot over the last few days. It's awesome imo. One of those games where you really have good proper fun with laugh.gif And the replay value is huge because of the many different ways you can dispatch your enemies.
It's basically a first person fighting game (swords and bows and magic) and runs on a modified version of the source engine (HL2's engine for those of you who don't know - but you don't need steam to play it). As a result, most of the combat is physics based. You can kick enemies off stuff, throw boxes at them, cut ropes and trigger giant traps of swinging death and loads of other stuff, and that's just the demo! If the combat in Oblivion was anything like that, it would have been a far greater success I think.
Highly recommend you download the demo! It's a blast! laugh.gif

Anyone tested the new Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars Demo already?
I downloaded it yesterday evening and I must admit: Really damn nice. Finally we get a good story again, good actors and the Tiberum flavour.

Runs well on maximum details on my rig and it looks damn good. Nice light and shadow effects, full zoom/scaleable. Its worth downloading 1,2 GB of demo =)

PS.:

Kane's back!

Posted by: NeMeSiS Mar 2 2007, 09:49

I downloaded it and the only thing i liked are the cutscenes, the gameplay itself seems to be exactly the same as it was years ago, and it has bored me since then tongue.gif

Posted by: King Homer Mar 2 2007, 13:02

Yeah you're right about that. But that's okay for me, because it's easy and becomes handy very fast.
I'm missing some old units like the Mammoth Mk II, too bad it isn't produced anymore. Nice to see the Juggernaut back and the Mammoth tank.
And for the cutscenes: As good as Max Payne's comic-strips =)

Well, I have that game, but even with my 7800 it always screwed up when I pulled up the map. When I say screwed up, I mean terrible frames, and after a few seconds, a lock up. Never got anywhere on it.

It was a strange game, though.

(Sorry but I'm not really into the C&C series, so I can't really comment on that)

Well as for reviews, here I am going to review a game thats getting on now. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

Now, dont get me wrong, I want to like this game so much, I think it could be awesome!

Heres what gets me though, its just sooo unfinished! The reload anims are just universal, there is no changing of magazines. How hard is that in this day and age?! The game is fulll of FUBAR game elements. For instance your mate died, and then when you leave combat area he comes on video and tells you not to. thats the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Your AI sucks. They run around, getting mown down and prove more of a hinderance than anything else if your playing on hard, which really is what it says on the tin. Damned tricky!

My friend and I have talked about it, and its a game with so much potential and possibility around it. Have any of you guys played GRAW2. If they fixed all these problems with GRAW then I would really enjoy it. Realistic combat sim, it aint,, its fun and its short. Thats it biggrin.gif

(Ok, I need a PC that can run ArmA at a decent speed, it's all the same thing! tongue.gif )

Posted by: Wittmann Aug 27 2007, 12:38

GRAW2 isnt bad. Some issues, but I dont mind it. Feels more like an expansion than a new game though, but the fact that it isnt all in Urban areas is nice. Reload anims to change as well in GRAW2.

ok, thx. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Wittmann Aug 30 2007, 03:32

Brothers in Arms Hells Highway later this year will be a great blend of squad work and FPS.
COD2 for fast fragging is not bad, but Medal of Honor Airborne comes out soon and has a demo out, I like it as much as CoD2 for mindless killing.
Soldiers; Heroes of WW2 while older is better than Faces of War. Homer got me addicted.
Company of Heroes, well: *drool and gurgling sound* Bloody good RTS. BLOODY good. And the expansion is coming, which is actually also a standalone game, but CoH1 has such a good campaign it would be a waste not to get both.
Hearts of Iorn 2 for RTS but its GRAND strategy, you dont actually direct a tactical battle...
Close Combat series; old, but still brilliant for some company level RTS. Pick it up very cheap now days.

They are my favourite world war two games, god knows, Ive played alot...

Oh of course I forgot; for realism; Red Orchestra. Tank and infantry combat, OstFront, 1941-1945. If you want realistic action, one shot kills, no 3rd person, no bunny hopping, thats the one for you.

Has anyone played BioShock yet? It looks good...

lol on that subject Ship sim 07 came out few weeks ago and was retailing in my local gamestation for £1.50 (brand new) hahaha owned.

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 2 2007, 00:09

love H&D 1&2, brothers in arms i began to find dull near to the end of the campaign. Got a bit bored of the same wall shaped hedges, and as a game cover, fire and flank gets a bit tedius after the 300th time.

Sid Meiers's Pirates is pretty good, you can find it http://www.2kgames.com/pirates/pirates/home.php. I also like Corsairs, but it is older, and only runs on Windows 98...

Posted by: da rat Sep 2 2007, 17:50

The deeper and deeper you get into Bioshock, the more incredible it gets! As the controls become second nature, you find yourself setting up incredible ambushes and the like for those 'Big Daddies' biggrin.gif The graphics are top notch too, looks stunning. thumbsup.gif

It does crash sometimes though... I had to download drivers by nvidia designed for Bioshock (to my understanding) to make it play well and just get past the first mission! Crashes are now far less frequent though and it's incredibly playable on full settings (cruising pretty much constantly on 25-40-60 fps now smile.gif ) When it does crash though, it seems to be with lots of stuff happening; voiceovers, ai's spawning, lots of fire etc.. But at least it's not just me, lots of people are reporting it to be completely unplayable so I count myself lucky biggrin.gif

All in all, ~Addicted~

Buy Bioshock now!

Posted by: Wittmann Sep 10 2007, 07:44

Didnt get it working after DLing one of the mods, and the servers were empty. Meh. Ill stick to IL2 and wait for Storm of War

Yup... had it on my desktop for quite some time. Never got around it that much tho'; the graphics were not that good, CBA to check the manual and controls, and didn't find anything to fight. Plus the torque is quite big compared to Il-2. w00t.gif

Nope, I want it though; would be bloody useful for Il2 (especially on Witty's clan server with their locked cockpits! boppin2.gif )

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 10 2007, 18:38

yeh, and looks pretty cool on arma also.

Posted by: Wittmann Sep 11 2007, 01:22

Pfft learn to use a mouse and hat-switch effectively, if I can get a kill without Track IR you can!

Posted by: Sheildsy Sep 11 2007, 02:32

Does anyone actuly feel that Track IR actuly give you an advantage in a dog fight? tiredsmiley.gif
I personaly (and me being a drunk and tired young man whilst i game) would be prone to shoving the thing to where not even the most daring Gypsy fighter pilot of 400B.C would dare to venture Malajn.gif

Now for something complety different, does anyone find that S.T.A.L.K.E.R (Oblivion Lost and Shadows of CB, pending your nation) scares the living crap out of them? boppin2.gif
After having a lunch time enduced discussion on the matter at work, i was informed that people actuly had to minimize the game ebcouse they were afriad of creating some McNuggets in thier panaloons.
It is a scary game yes, (especailly with that brain rape monster at the SpetzNatz outpost) but i dont see what a few 7.62's and a lot of yelling at my moniter can cure dance.gif

Anyone have any opinons on any other games that have scared the living crap out of them? biggrin.gif

Posted by: Wittmann Sep 11 2007, 03:06

Try F.E.A.R, can screw with your head at times.

As for Track IR it does give you an advantage in that your situation awareness is much higher and you can keep your hands on all controls and monitor the target, your instruments and your own flight path easily by moving your head, rather than fumbling with a mouse and hat switch.

Wont improve your gunnery, but will help you keep your wits about you.

Oh a bioshock review I have to agree with but hey, it made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself.

STALKER wasn't scary... I mean, the poltergeists and controllers are sort of creepy to begin with, and there are some point at which some of the nastys jump ut at you. But I wouldn't say it's like FEAR or something.

Now, the "Ghouls Forest" mod for DooM, that looks scary! ohmy.gif

I'm afraid to download it! biggrin.gif

that review was brilliant, favorited that website.

That's how I still do it also...although it's been awhile since playing IL2..

Does any of you use the IL2Stab program with it?
I'm having some odd issues with latest version of it. I can't get the stupid "bullet tracer" animations off.... or it might be a glitch.
Well, have to scout the older version of it again.

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Sep 25 2007, 22:41

halo3 so soon!!! (needs to rebuy xbox 360!!! )

not a normal fan off shoot em up console games, but Halo is so unique and story driven.

Posted by: da rat Sep 26 2007, 20:13

Halo 3 is brilliant so far ohmy.gif

(I don't even own a 360, but I'm addicted to playing it at my mates' houses tongue.gif)

Posted by: GIJOE94 Sep 26 2007, 21:06

Yes, Halo 3 looks incredible! Gears of war was excellent to. Some people even say that some xbox 360 games are better than PS3 games!

Posted by: Helping Hand Sep 26 2007, 21:50

IMHO they are. Mercenaries 2 has been delayed till Q1 next year :@

Posted by: Jason Sep 26 2007, 21:51

Didn't even know they was making a 2nd Merceneries game. I loved that game when playing it on my PS2 a few years back smile.gif

Posted by: Deadeye Sep 27 2007, 21:13

Nah, I tried the demo... pretty hard ... but I like the genre

Posted by: Jimboob Oct 4 2007, 10:14

Halo3? Most over hyped game for a while, not so much different from Halo2 appart from vehicles, weapons, the abillity to rip off turret guns and the story itself.

Should of waited for it to become cheap.

Been playing the Crysis beta, pretty fun though as it seems to only be Direct X 9 the graphics arnt what they should be, though still pretty sexy. Gameplay wise for me it takes a while getting used to switching to each different "power" or whatever they're called.

Posted by: da rat Oct 4 2007, 16:23

There's a Crysis beta? Well, I'll be downloading that if it's still available tomorrow at school biggrin.gif
Edit: Too late it seems sad.gif Bloody Fileplanet glare.gif

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Oct 5 2007, 10:53

i need to get a ps3. And i know it sounds sad, but im getting it simply for 1 game. If somone can guess it ill give you a cookie.

Posted by: Jimboob Oct 5 2007, 11:43

Halo4?

Posted by: da rat Oct 6 2007, 18:16

I'm seriously considering getting a 360 for Halo3 online rolleyes.gif

It's just so addictive biggrin.gif

man hunt 2 banned again. Bah! its got an 18 label, it apperently promotes random sadistic killings. Personally i would never buy the game because its sick, but how is it any different from say the saw movies?

Posted by: D@V£ Oct 8 2007, 19:17

This is almost as stupid as the time those American's banned teaching evolution.

Although I doubt that actually happened. So this is the stupidest thing ever.

I mean, it's an 18 rating. There are plenty of movies that promote sadistic killing that have a 12 rating. Hell, there are books that promote genocide that are taught to youngsters accross the world (glares at "The Bible"). If kids are buying the game then it's the stores fault. If it's not the store's fault it's the parents fault.

This is stupid enough to make you vote BNP! weirdsmiley.gif

Posted by: BigglesTrevor Oct 8 2007, 19:22

indeed. alough im not overly bothered about the game in question. it more bothers me that it might stop future games. Manhunt however is a pointless sick game which clearly dosnt use death to try make a point of any sort.

Posted by: JdB Oct 8 2007, 20:18

I guess they'll hide behind classical lies, like "in movies you see it happening, but in games you have the liberty to do it yourself", or similar pieces of bullsh*t made into government policy by people that never leave their marbled halls with their rich friends, and have zero idea of what is actually going on in the country.

Horses wear their eye-shielders on a 90 degree angle to their eyes, politicians have them right in front of their eyes, blocking all traces of reality.

is it possible to play at japanese games (i mean imported from Japan) on a french PS2? it seems that the japanese PS2 and the french are differents.

NTSC J in Japan (NTSC in north america)
SECAM in france (PAL in the UK)

QUOTE
NTSC-U/C implies domestic US & Canadian systems, NTSC-J implies domestic Japanese, Asian or Korean systems and PAL implies domestic European or Australian systems.

weirdsmiley.gif i don't understand please some help.

Posted by: Helping Hand Oct 28 2007, 14:09

I think that A they are different zones game wise and B different TV settings..

Posted by: JdB Oct 28 2007, 14:11

No you cannot, NTSC J and PAL are different, you need a tv compatible of displaying it, and a European tv is only PAL compatible.

Posted by: d@nte Oct 28 2007, 14:12

i need a convertor to change NTSC to PAL?

Posted by: Helping Hand Oct 28 2007, 16:33

Or a TV that can display NTSC

Posted by: D@V£ Oct 28 2007, 17:14

As I understand it, it's a way to stop people buying import games. Due to variences in currency certain people want to keep prices for games up.

For example, in the UK most games cost around £20-£30. In the US however they only tend to cost $20-$30 (for new games that is, older games tend to go down to about £5-£10, which converts to $5-$10.)

If you want a perfect example of this, look how THQ are stopping their games being brought on steam for australians tongue.gif

Posted by: NeMeSiS Oct 28 2007, 23:35

I did, its like Far Cry, but with more options. Quite fun but while the maps are quite large they are still linear as f*ck.

Posted by: Linker Split Oct 31 2007, 00:06

downlaoding now... for what I saw the official editing site there are a lot of more options than the games you can see now... also, it supports new features only available with DX10... but the incredible thing seems the map editor: you can make a lot of things biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Does somebody here know "Terrorist Strike" by accident? A cool little game, indeed not a high-budget production for certain, but it focuses much on team tactics and is very challenging.

You have to take care of a lot of things, conduct real life tactics, and the AI is surprisingly clever when it comes to room clearance maneuvers.

something like SWAT4 so?

Gamespot's rating isn't that great but I'll try out the demo. It definatly can't be more crappy than Soldier of Fortune: Payback. One of the few games that gets worse with time! thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif At least there will be scenarios here.
