As Blackscorpion said, there's only been so many addons released so far. We're definatly going to have one, just wait a few months. In the mean time just use the news archive. hopefully, the clear structured download section was the biggest advantage of ofp.info... -------------------- |

Hello all @ arma info.
The site looks very nice, EZ on the eyes . One thing that gives me grief is the downloadspeed. I have ADSL2+,so i know i have the speed, and unlimited d/l. yet, when i try 2 d/l an addon from the site, it usually times out after it gets to 10% , becouse its very slow. Wonder if its at you end. i tried diff. sites. Everyting is ok. but as I sad, urs is ez on the eyes. Can some1 explain this1 to me, why the D/l speed is slow from here? Regards, <>Sharpy<> -------------------- |

I think that the problem of slow download is related to the high number of ppl which enter the site, and download the stuff too... lotta connection lead to a overload and then to a slow download...
It's the same prob with the ofp.info site... -------------------- Visit my blog about Poker at Blogspot.com

Exactly. Although this site is my #1 news source for ArmA, I usually look on the official BIS forums for other mirrors.

Ive been searching a while for the right thread, but this topic is I think the closest to what Im going to post about...
Ive been many times, just like all of you, confronted with low download speeds for addons and the like (usually caused by high number of dowloaders). Thing Im sugesting is for the addons to be alongside with uploading then to arma.info to be put into torrents and placed on torrent sites (such as mininova.org), to enable the distributing of the weight of uploading the addon onto all users who at the same time download. These torrents would be then listed along with the arma.info download links and would be downloaded via torrent clients just like 'regular' torrent content Not sure I wrote this in an understandable way, but I tried... |

We are aware of the fact that some users get slow download speeds. A new site version is currently beeing made, and once it is ready the downloads will move to the new server too (but I'm not 100% sure if the files haven't already been moved )
Then there shouldn't be any speed problems anymore. I'm really not familiar with torrents maybe you could PM me some info -------------------- |

Ive been searching a while for the right thread, but this topic is I think the closest to what Im going to post about... Ive been many times, just like all of you, confronted with low download speeds for addons and the like (usually caused by high number of dowloaders). Wrong, it has often very little to due with the number of people downloading, the site uses a 100mbit (or maybe a 1000 now, I don't remember exactly) connection for the downloadserver and another one for the database, try breaking that with anything less than a major mod-release. The problem is that some people connect through a particular gateway that is running at very low speed, or is filtering the data travelling across their network extensively (forgot the name of it, but Cervo posted the name a while back). The problem is with them, Armedassault.info is not able to change the path that ISP's take to connect to servers (which "hubs" they use). QUOTE ...The problem is that some people connect through a particular gateway that is running at very low speed, or is filtering the data travelling across their network extensively... I dont think that that is the problem really, because the speeds I get when Im downloading addons from the server at different times differ very much. I have a pretty stable connection and I dont get this sine wave effect on other ftp servers with smaller user loads, so if you were right then IMO I shouldnt be getting these very different download speeds... I also think that adding this torrent "feature" would be an alternative way of getting to the addons which at least some people would appreciate. A few reasons: 1) downloading can be paused, restarted the next day at leisure, 2) the load of download isnt on a single connection but is spread to all the torrent users 3) if the arma.info ftp server were to go offline (no reason why it should but IF ) there are many copies of the files among the users of the torrent from which it downloads Anyway thx for considering this, even if you decide against... |

Time for something totally different...
Why do some members have a registration number higher than the one that is actually displayed in the forum index? For example, member tigerkid28 is listed as member 974whilst the index says that we only have 868 registered members..? -------------------- |

At first I thought they where just part of a repeating pattern, but now I look closer the trees behind them seem to be a bit different, I don't think it's the sun, could be an explosion?

Look at the trees to the left of it and the rock beneath them, they're different on either one...
