The water temperature in the smaller lakes has been around 25°C for the past week or so. Well, hasn't been much below that for the past month, almost. Currently aiming for a minimum of 1 km of swimming per day. And I barely was able to stay afloat a few years back. What a strange world...
And if not that, well, Space Engineers. -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

Warm water? Madness.
It's too cold here to contemplate going anywhere near the water. No where near as bad as Finnish winters of course but enough to kill you in 5 mins. I'm sitting around waiting to hear if I get to be considered for deployment to Ukraine. Until then, business as usual. -------------------- |

There were Australians among the dead of the plane the separatists shot down, weren't they?
@JdB: Hope you and everyone you know is alright. I heard that quite many Dutch communities have losses to mourn. -------------------- |

@JdB: Hope you and everyone you know is alright. I heard that quite many Dutch communities have losses to mourn. Yep we're all good. Luckily our family isn't the inter-continental type and most friends go on holiday in August. The province was the most affected, but only a few relatively near here. @Witty: I didn't know they were considering to deploy fancy meter maids -------------------- |

I thought he was a dispatcher? I don't see what they can gain by dispatching dispatchers to dispatch. And it does bring up the obvious issue with the multiple meanings of the term dispatch, and they might end up simply dispatching their dispatchers.
Which would be unfortunate. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

A neat little storm just passed through: 50 liters of rain in half an hour, Bft 12 winds playing fir mikado, several roofs set ablaze by lightning strikes. I'm kind of embarrassed: Ours is the only basement in all the street that's not flooded. Fire companies of all the county have been pulled together here; there was so much hustle and bustle they accidentally sounded the air raid alarm instead of fire alarm.

Despite the regular stuff sold being quite sh*t (still better than Fosters), we do have a few gems, too.
http://www.goodnewsfinland.com/archive/new...t-in-the-world/ Also, the heat continues. Apparently until Friday. Might break heat records the next few days, guess who's gonna have some fun times outdoors with BMPs and MT-LBs. -------------------- Hakkaa päälle Pohjan poika!

Bah. The heat seems to be gone here and I sure am glad. My dog just turned eighteen. Fit as a fiddle, even though his eyesight is nearly gone. But... he suffers in the heat.
Re the beer, don't give me your shenanigans! The best beer in the world is and remains to be 'Schlappeseppel'. It saved my county from utter destruction by the Swedish king Gustav Adolf II! In the Thirty Year's War the Swedes had come to pillage and plunder but were turned away when the king had made a stop near the brewery and concluded that a folk who made so delicious a beer needn't be destroyed root and branch. Afterwards he presented the townsfolk with a statue of his that would keep his rearguard from behaving unnicely against his will. He...did burn down the brewery, though. The king wouldn't suffer that any other of the land-ravaging princes could have a taste of that glorious beer until the war had ended. -------------------- |

I'm happy that it's back to being cool and damp here. I really do not do heat.

Not a single mention of the centenary of the umpteenth unprovoked invasion of the barbaric Huns into the rest of Europe. I am dissappoint!

It was a long road to war. We've not got to the end of the road to replying.

I always thought Germans weren't funny, but then I got very drunk and laughed at the wikipedia article on East German "jokes". This leads me to the hypothesis that German humour isn't really funny, therefore, they must have the best beer. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Oddly enough we say that British humor isn't funny at all.
Wait, what? Wikipedia has a lemma on East German jokes? Here's wondering why I sometimes see articles flagged for deletion at all. -------------------- |

Oddly enough we say that British humor isn't funny at all. That's because Germans can't recognize what they do not have. British humor is considered one of the classic forms of humor/comedy. German humor? Not so much ... -------------------- |

And what about Dutch humor? A lot of the humor (these days) is based on insulting people ("juuuuuuuuuuuuuust kidding" *smack*), pretty harsh for someone not used to it. It's not sophisticated in any way like British comedy. -------------------- |

Well, that's pretty much the description of German humor then. Add to that an aweful lot of left-leaning political satire.
