I see you haven't forgotten I'm actually from the Franconian part of Bavaria.
Oh yeah, Jimmiah, you got that right. Someone help me to a plate of roast pork with a heap of silkpotato dumplings and brandied pears.

You've made me so hungry alright. glare.gif

Since my better half is away for a weekend in the Hunter Valley visiting family I am spending the night in with roti , a homemade lamb rogan josh and more beer than I should drink - but I will anyway. Couch and TV to self, huzzah!

If only teleportation was a thing - you bring the pork and pear, I'll shout the beer and a pavlova for desert.

And I've got us covered for wine.

Got a fruity Rosé down there? An unlikely choice, I'll give you that, but we've come to find here it's actually the best wine to team up with both the strong pork and the soft taters.

Hurry up, Davidof. Get that teleporter going, Witty has the place all to himself. Eh, do you Ozzies have deer down there too, I mean proper red deer?

Sambar mostly and some fallow, but yes. I know a local butcher who stocks venison. Otherwise it's a half day drive to the high country hunting grounds.

Got you covered on the rose - we stock a bit of it alongside gamay. Always handy in the summer when you want a quaffable, chilled red or something light to go with seafood or spicier Tex-Mex or Italian dishes.

Well, I've just had a tasty goulash of wild boar, complete with potato dumplings, lamb's lettuce and a nice Bertarose from Venice.

And now I'm going to die, 'cause actually I musn't eat all that anymore.

The answer is drink.

I could go for some roast lamb and gravy with a crusty bread roll.

You pile heresy upon heresy! ohnoo.gif Do you not have roast potatoes in Australia?

I mean, bread with gravy is bad enough, but bread rolls? And crusty bread at that?

@pMaster: Can't teleport wine, sorry. It's not a technical limitation or anything, the EU has pretty strict legislation on this kind of thing, I'll defy God any day of the week, but customs!? I'm a madman, sure, but I'm not a madman!

Just saying… if you voted LEAVE you can always tell yourself you're free to break them useless EUSSR laws.

As for bread, there's nothing better to any kind of meat than white bread boiled in herbed butter. Oh god, now I'm hungry again.

Yeah. Us leaving the EU. That's 100% something that's definately going to happen. We're leaving. Right now. Here's the door. Are you watching? We're leaving. Right now. Exactly this second. Door is open, we're stepping out of and it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand- OK, here's the list of special concessions we want, or we're leaving the EU.

We're all fucking sick of it too. But the Banks want to stay in, so the Tories and Blairites want to stay in. All that's going to happen is the government is going to continue being "tough on the EU", and maybe if we're lucky we'll end up in the situation where we're technically not in the EU, but we might as well be, like Norway.

Those crazy Norwegians with their offshore oil and lutefisk.

Went and had tasty Korean food. Saw the new Ghostbusters. Kinda liked it. Good night, would do it again!

D@V1D0V, do you people seriously not do roast and gravy rolls? Usually beef or chicken involved but so good. Butter that bad boy, let the meat melt it then add gravy and pepper. If beef, throw in some onions. It's the equal of a meat pie on a winters day, though never superior to Parkers.

No. That is not a thing here. I mean, maybe if someone's trying to be super fancy they might serve tiny French breads with a roast, as like, an appetizer or something, but the idea of bread with gravy. I mean, what?

Is it kind of fancy name for a Yorkshire pudding? Like, you're too familiar with being hot and fun, so you eschew the cold dismal nature of Yorkshire, like how the Americans can't call French Fries French and we don't call our Royals German?

The only reason for that is the rape of Iraq by the war criminals Blair and Bush, which the French were smart enough not to support. If only they had (or rather had NOT) done the same in Syria and Libya ...

Oh sorry of course I meant the liberation of Iraq and it's transformation into the tranquil land of peace, love and abundance that it is today. Marvellous how it all turned out so well without any planning, vision or even a clue having gone into it prior to the liberation.

No, that's perfectly normal. It seems whenever we get rid of any really awful politician, someone even worse steps in to take their place...

Isn't it funny that as a matter of fact the world has grown a lot more unsafe under the reign of Peace Nobel awardee Barack Obama?

The figures speak a plain language: There's more war, more terrorism, more people dying from acts of violence, there's a massive arms build-up and nuclear weapons arsenals are growing instead of being decreased. In fact the likelihood of an actual war between Russia and NATO is now higher than ever since 1991. Guantanamo is still there, and as for the United States, there's more racial unrest than during the last days of segregation (!).
tongue.gif
Ya know, I don't mean to be arrogant… but: told you. Back in 2008 when that charlatan was in Berlin preaching to tens of thousands I already predicted he'd be an utter failure. I said his visions were unrealistic and the outcome bound to disappoint people, and he'd drive a wedge into both America and the world in order to cement his power. I said he'd support the wrong people, and imagined his policies of appeasement would encourage others to make the world a worse place.

The financial crisis of 2007 did make things tougher for Obama, he couldn't pull off all that which he had planned, I'll give him that; but all he did was blaming it on Bush and Neoliberalism, which was wrong. The crisis was of Clinton's, Blair's and Schröder's making. Their "Third Way" somehow made ideological room for a massive deregulation of the banking sector and laid the groundwork for Lehman & Co turning into a time bomb.

If we just look at the figures, there's only 9/11 (and the intelligence mishaps making it possible) to even doubt if Bush was a better president than Obama. I'd say he was indeed.

Ugh. The worst kind of paypal "update ur credit card details, plz!" scams are the ones that actually come from paypal.

Yes. I am aware my old card has expired.
No, you cannot have my new details "just because".

I mean, think about it, scammers who aren't a registered business (in Luxembourg, I might add, so they aren't even paying taxes on the money they're nicking!) don't have a buttload of lawyers to back up their fraudulent charges on your card.

Bah. Credit cards. Such a stumbling block for me in online trading. It's just not common around here to have one, we prefer checking accounts with electronic cash cards. And considering how the financial crisis was triggered by (amongst other things) people paying their debts from one credit card with another, the idea that a credit card would demonstrate solvency is utterly laughable.
