For me:

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem

A friend of mine gave it to me. It looked familiar (the video clip of the first song were showed on Cartoon Network when I was a kid) so as soon as I was pissed I began to watch it.
I don't know if it was the alcohol, the music, the '70 style anime but I find awesome.

What is great is not only the music of Daft Punk (Discovery Album) and the draws of Leiji Matsumoto (Space Battleship Yamato), the story is good and you can understand very well the characters' emotions giving the fact that the movie has no dialoge at all, and few sound efects.

Charlie Wilsons War

Starring Tom Hanks as Charlie Wilson, the parliamentarian who organized the armed resistance in Afghanistan against the Soviets. A frigging great movie, even if the story drags on sometimes, it is totally recommendable.

9/10

Cloverfield

8/10 - Really great movie, some parts are a bit unbelievable though - eg. when [someone] dies, how the camera magically falls into a position right in front of his face (it's in the style of a handicam, really innovative ohmy.gif )

Danny Ocean rounds up the boys for a third heist, after casino owner Willy Bank double-crosses one of the original eleven, Reuben Tishkoff.

I've actually seen this movie back in June but I watched it again just for shits and giggles. Soundtrack's great too, by the way.

A bit pathetic, but a good movie altogether. 7/10

The author of the review is right. You watch a movie of 2 hours length and just have to pay full attention all the time, and even if some scenes appear unnecessarily long to you, the overall impression of the movie and especially the play of George Clooney leave is amazing. Sydney Pollack (should be well known among thriller fans) is truly a guarantor for good movies, the same applies to Tony Gilroy who directed "Michael Clayton"; As a playwright, he has edited the screenplay for the "Bourne" trilogy.

Definitely 10 out of 10.

9Th Company, or "9 Rota" in Russian. The story is interesting because it is still a mess in Afghanistan, you can easily exchange the Soviet soldiers for coalition troops, and so it relates pretty well to the present day. The action was shot a bit too fast at times. Although it is a realistic way to portrail hand to hand fighting, it is a little hard to watch. Considering it is a Russian movie, they seem to have gone all out with the money spent on equipment and fireworks. Better than a lot of "realistic" American movies that have many times it's budget.

8/10

JdB, saw 9th company a while ago, very good film. Saw it with some friends who arn't exactly into their military stuff. tongue.gif But they all thought it was a good film non the less. Very gritty.
Perhaps a little too many far fetched moments... But refreshing to see a Hollywood caliber movie from the east.

Well, soome scenes were a bit cheesy but as a Movie based on Afghanistan war its damn good. Nice to see russians as "normal soldiers" rather than american "russian child-eaters" tongue.gif

R Point

Brilliant psycological horror, confusing if you only watch it once, but is good enough to watch as many times as it takes for you to catch to what was actually going on.
