Hi FOlks,
I want to run a dedi server for me and a few mates. It's on my own home network, but there will only be 2 to 4 of us playing. We want to run ACE with ArmA v1.15 in Warfare mode. I've followed the guides and have been able to get a server running, but I can't figure out how to get it running in Warfare mode? Also I get errors in the server log when attempting to connect from the client such as "19:25:52 PLAYERX uses modified exe file - ???" or "19:18:51 eamonn uses modified data file - ???" but as far as I can tell the mods installed on the client and the server are identical?? I've run dedicated servers for Infiltration, BF2, etc.. just a bit of a noob with the ArmA stuff. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, egg |

Warfare which gets great results so I will try to best answer your question and cover a couple of items (server.cfg file & the shortcut to start arma in dedi mode)
When you want to host, just run that program and it will put up a black box up. At that point anyone can join. If you want to password the server and stuff you can make changes to the server.cfg file. That is where you can control various areas of the game. If you find that people cannot connect, have them take off custom sounds and custom faces and try again. I have a server config file that allows that stuff. Good luck. Feel free to also visit our site at http://arma.shadowcompanyelite.com and give a shout to me SCE_FATMAN on our gaming forums bud. Would be nice to get some group games going. |

Thanks Tom.
I am trying to start the server with a batch file as opposed to target. That may be causing problems?? And I am running the 1.15 beta server. So what I did was copy the 1.15 server to the root of the install folder on the server and run that (I renamed the old one to arma_server114.exe). Is that the right thing to do? Also would you mind posting your server.cfg? And do you really need to have an "arma.cfg" file? What about the profile? Is that necessary? I think I might uninstall and re-install the server just to be sure I don't have anything screwed up there. I thought, for a small server on a home broadband connection, that some tuning in the arma.cfg file was necessary. When I did get the server running OK, the VON was really spotty. I have since opened up port forwarding in my router / firewall because I thought that might be a problem (previous to opening that up I was able to get a mate to connect and play. However while VON did work, it was really spotty and not really usable). Thanks in advance for your help... I'm sorry to be a nub, but my couple of mates and I really want to run our own little warfare server and, in theory, this should be feasible to run a 4 person Warfare server with VON off a dedicated box on a home broadband connection. It sounds like you have this working, so I am hopeful! Cheers, egg |

I haven't tried hosting with patch 1.15 so before going that path why don't you try hosting 1.14 1st and once you get a successful hosting session try 1.15? I know A.C.E. can run with other addons, however, we've (SCE) decided to do as a group is fresh installs on our pcs and only added the A.C.E. mod. This allows us to have similar configurations which also rule out conflicting addons as being an issue so a fresh re-install isn't a bad idea either.
Here is the server cfg info. Some of the text has our group's info. Just change it to what you want. I left them there for reference. Take care and good luck. CODE //
// server.cfg // // comments are written with "//" in front of them. // GLOBAL SETTINGS hostname="SCE Arena - A.C.E. Cheers Tom! I think I may have it sorted .. now need to tweak the VON as it's still a bit flaky. But with your help I was able to get the server working.
