Hello,

tried to play OFP with my new widescreen display. Found this Wiki Entry here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...tion_Flashpoint

Edited fovtop accordingly to 1050, fovleft to 1680 and changed the resolution in the game menu to 1680x1050. However, i still have the feeling that the displayed picture is compressed.

Do you know how to play OFP in 16:10? I have no idea.

Thanks in advance!

Greetings, Philipp

I never messed around with the FOV config ohmy.gif. I just changed my resolution in game and it looked alright (unless I really never paid attention to it).

Never ever tried widescreen! Sorry. Chnge your screen's resolution to "mailbox" or 4:3.

a 4:3 aspect ratio will just look weird with a wide-screen resolution.

The Wiki says:
Edit your resolution in the UserInfo.cfg file. In addition, you will need to edit the fovLeft=1.000000 variable to suit your resolution.

The value of 1.000 actually corresponds to a 4:3 aspect, which is a 1.333 ratio. The value for a 16:10 ratio would be calculated by "1.6/1.33" for a value of 1.230769. This forumula can also be used for 16:9 and 15:9 monitors.

However, to me this does not really make sense. I tried it out and inserted 1.050 and 1.680 (my resolution is 1680x1050). I still have the feeling that the aspect ratio is not correct. Malajn.gif

Ummmm... because you didn't actually calculate your aspect ratio. You can try with the 1.23... value specified above, or actually use the formula to calculate one (1680 divided by 1050 divided by 1.33).

Well, I don't really understand which values would be correct and why this must be divided by 1.33.

According to what this quote says, 0,75 fovtop and 1,20 fovleft (1680/1050/1.33) is correct. Yes. However, 1.20/0.75 (zoomed) = 1.680/1.050 =1.6

Just try 1.203 or something like that on both fovleft and fovtop (or whatever the variables are).

The 1.333... is there to correct the aspect value, which by default is calculated for 4:3.

4:3 = not 16:10, but 16:12 (or 1.33:1), hence you need to recalculate the last value to a scale representative of that widescreen scale (the other value remaining the same as long as you correctly adjust the leftfov value).

Why 4:3 or 1.333? My display is 16:10 with a 1.6 aspect ratio.

When I use 1,20 fovleft and 0,75 fovtop this still does not work: Narrow heads and zoomed picture.
Which values for fovtop and fovleft are correct?

*sigh* if you'd read my posts... 1.203 (well, as many 0's as you want, since the more 3's you add to the divider the closer to .20000000000000000000000003 you get) for both. That should work, using the formula. It already says it in the quote posted earlier.

The normal values are calculated for a 4:3 aspect monitor, so you need to recalculate them for your aspect ratio (as JdB said).
