I'm currently in love with GTA San Andreas again.
Started to play last week, during my holiday and now can't stop. I'm already in the third city of the hughe island and doing jobs for the Mafia. I guess it has one of the most intensive stories, even as good as the OFP story. I really like how the different character are displayed and the like. You get to know many people and their traits and faits. PS: Never had that much fun cruising with the chopper through the country! -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Just finished career mode in NFS: Carbon, having mixed feelings about it, it's almost identical to last 2-3 releases of the game, but I play them anyways, sort of tradition. I wish they would make something like NFS4: High Stakes.
Graphics-wise, the game is superb, but it doesn't look convincing, at least to me. Motion blur is awful and I turned it off, it really ruins the feel. Since EA is going with the "game-color-coding", MW had orange tint, this one has a purpleish feel to it. Also, it's filled with disco-like features, Scout people in your crew emit two pink-purple lines behind them, Drafters have some kind of blue draft area behind them, most of the menus have some kind of disco lines going around. Not really impressed, but hey, it's EA. Toyota Supra I finished the career with: |

I didn't even know this is already released. Or did you play the console version?
But you're right, since NFS Underground the games are most likely the same: Tune up your car, get upgrades for winning races etc. My favourite NFS part is still NFS: Porsche. High detailed damage model, you could upgrade your car aswell but no nonsense style tuning, no real part chaning in the engine etc. And at least, Porsche a dream of every German. Took 2 pictures in GTA, that's him CJ, Carl Johnson. CJ with SPAS12 CJ on Freeway chopper, look-a-like Schwarzenegger in black -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

My favourite NFS part is still NFS: Porsche. I liked Porsche too, I especially enjoyed speeding down autobahn in a 911. |

Yes, nothing is better than speeding with an 911 Turbo. I sat in one in reality, not as driver but the feeling was great aswell. Damn, it's a shame it doesn't run properly on WinXP systems (tried it once).

Damn, it's a shame it doesn't run properly on WinXP systems (tried it once). Works fine, you just need a patch. [This one]. You need the 3.5 update to be installed (I think it's an unofficial update). After applying it the game worked perfectly. -------------------- |

I started playing IL-2 again (+ all addons --> Forgotten Battles/Aces Expansion Pack/Pacific Fighters). Just awesome, this game. The physics in this game rock and the cockpits too... only the missions are a bit boring sometimes because you have to fly very far to reach your mission objective

I did never hit anything with bombs and my joystick was really f***ed up, I couldn't win any dogfight. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

As i said, its really hard, but if you get used to it, its "easy". You jsut have to practice throwing bombs in editor... and of course you need a good joystick

there is nothing like a good ol' B-26 True but I favour the B-29. Talking about the B-29, the only thing I'm missing in modern air combat simulations are nuclear weapons. Sure it's some kind sadistic but hey it's a game only. I wanna' blow stuff up and best way to do it: nukes. I always wanted to fly in 30.000 feet dropping a big bang. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Mmmmm, nukes.
Well, I've been playing SC: Double Agent today. Graphics are impressive as ever, but a big hit on my system, game averages around 25-30FPS. Gameplay is similar to previous parts, with minor differences. I hate the new "action menu" and inventory system, I so got used to the one from previous releases. I also don't like the decision to remove subtitles, with the some kind of odd audio system, it's hard to hear the radio dialog, at least for me. Maybe I'm going deaf with all the rock music from my MP3 player. Anyhoo, this is how it looks on my rig (No AA since HDR is enabled): |

Yeah I was in the local electronic store yesterday and it was presented with lot of posters, full scale plastic statues etc but it's not the type of game I'm playing.
The new RWM 6.7 mod will be released soon for Sudden Strike 2. Hopefully Wittmann will get his game working so we shall have a nice game together. RWM = Real Warfare Mod, a long time developed mod since the release of Sudden Strike back in 2000. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Hehe, yes, a good prepared attack with Jagdtiger and smaller tanks for his back and flanks and you're as good as unstoppable.
2 Tiger II's to his left and right and 4 ore more Tigers as backup and Stalin can go home. I mean, that 128mm basically blows up everything with one shot. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

personally as of yesterday Ive been playing the Ciais realism mod for COD2 with a sensible blood mod...none of that spray everywhere crap...looks good and plays nice. US troops open up supporting an assaulting squad advancing toward a German battery British tank brews up from a direct hit from a Tiger. A mortar shell has also rendered a poor squaddie to the right quite dead. RUN! Fire and manoeuvre @#%@&* Tiger! Grenades, they hurt OH SHI........... -------------------- |

Yes but its not turned absed and you need it to be so for the bigger game that are battalion sized
For company sized I prefer CC5 and its mods http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/index.php Maybe I should take Rewan on via an email game of CM:BB Ok links to COD2 mods I use: http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/Ciais...apack_Mod;70326 http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/WCP_Blood_Mod;63242 I'm also playing Blitzkrieg 2, I got it for 12 bucks....not bad for that price -------------------- |

I'm kinda disappointed about Call of Duty, both 1 and 2. I always completed the games after 3 hours of getting and installing them.
I've now started playing Battlefield 2. It isn't really bad, the Single Player is just too easy, even with the hardest difficulty. And the multiplayer is even easier when playing with my dad and his friends. |

Well, BF2 isn't supposed to be difficult
It's made for beginners, easy shooting, easy driving. OFP is for average players, many BF players failed where the average OFP player was winner. ArmA will be for average+ gamers aswell. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Can we talk about movies here too, or just games? Saves making a new topic that would probably fall into obscurity now and again, then people who wanna talk about them would have to dig up/ make a new one

WOW! I rented it from the local store yesterday, 12 hrs later I was sitting in front of my PC with my jaw on the floor going "Good god, that is the 2nd best game I have ever played" whereas OFP is #1. It has the best storyline in any game that I have ever played, great graphics and realism, great maps, great camerawork etc. Just a tops game Anybody played it? -------------------- |

I just tested FEAR Extraction Point with my new video card, dudes, I can run everything on maximum with 8x AA and 16x AF. That's so incredible, and I have a constant FPS of 50-70!
It's really amazing how good this game looks on these detail settings. I'll take some pictures later. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

i got MTW2 yesterday and WOW. its amazing , graphics is great, its really good fun. i started a campaign as England and France attacked me straight away. in one swoop move i was able to capture Paris and kill there king in the process! Longbowen own, just plonk them on a hill and put some spikes up and they will stop anything armored or not. just brilliant. btw is it ok if i was to open a "Non-OFP combat photoprahy thread" so we could put screenshots of other games in there?

I'm currently in love with GTA San Andreas again. Started to play last week, during my holiday and now can't stop. I'm already in the third city of the hughe island and doing jobs for the Mafia. I guess it has one of the most intensive stories, even as good as the OFP story. I really like how the different character are displayed and the like. You get to know many people and their traits and faits. PS: Never had that much fun cruising with the chopper through the country! You should try city hopping with that propeller driven aircraft near San Fiero's runway. It's called a Beagle or something. Now that's relaxing... not too fast... not too slow, just perfect. Never thought flying in GTA would be that much fun |

Well, actually I'm only playing CounterStrike Source these days. One of the best pure FP-shooters ever if you ask me. There are always plenty of servers and a wide variaty of maps you can play. It also has a quite nice community and alot of dedicated gamers. I'll stick with this game until I can get my hands on ArmA.

COD UO and COD 2 i love cod 2 weapons handle perfectly CoD2 weapons (and especially the sounds) make me think of plastic toys CoD1 was fun for some random shooting, and i had a good time trying to team up my team to 'rush' the enemy in harbor in S&D, always fun on a big server, especially when 9 out of 10 people actually cooperated But i have a hard time liking other games after playing OFP for several years.. -.-' -------------------- Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum.

CoD2's got nothing on UO IMO.. Infact, the only good thing about it is the SP, and even that's crummy sometimes because in theory, you can take an UNLIMITED amount of bullets and not die

CoD 2 sucks... I hate it... absolutely nothing really good new (exeptetd the zooms and the fact its more biuetyfull than CoD 1), so I prefere UO... The Jeeps are fun, the MG's anyway... Artilleri ownes... and so on, but most time I'm playin day of Defeat (1.2, not source, for nearly the same reason than CoD2)

COD 2 is good for weapons meaning - inclusion of grease gun and shotgun... those are what i own with, and the STG is better

Anyone of you tested FEAR:XP already. I'm stuck at level after leaving the subway. I'm on that Parking deck but nothing happens, the screen remains black and I only see crosshair and so on. Sounds are working, FPS is good but nothing to see. Anyone has the same problem here?

I like CoD2 with the Xtreme MP mod, makes it more interesting and adds a health bar plus promotion system for the round, rewards are more health packs to use, call in mortars or arty, more nades and smokes....admiral mod is OK too.
CoD2 MP vanilla is shite and unrealistic, I only like to play this at work via LAN with my mates, but as a shooter I say BS to those who get a shot on you from the hip with a bolt action, its VERY hard to do so. Ciais realism mod for SP is nice as well, cant play without it now. Not many UO servers in AUS tho so I haven't reinstalled it. CoH and CC5 with El Alamein mod is occupying my attention right now -------------------- |

UT2003 was quite fun playing it but I could never establish my position in such a community. Playing for skill isn't my target in any way.
People just fighting each other to become the best of something really unnecessary is just dumb. ESL an Co are for those people who must compensate something they can't do in reality. My words: Realism all the way, coop is the only thing I play. Or tactical gaming, strategy - that's it. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Hit the nail on the head there Homer + Trev. I only like DoD:S for the graphics and physics, and what you said trev, shooting americans with the sniper rifle and seeing them fall
On another note, anyone ever looked at the facepunch forums for Gmod? Strikes me it's one of the worst communities around They ban you because they dont like you, or because you make too many spelling mistakes o.o |

i find the CS community, and HL2 connected communties in general very arogent. perhaps all the noob bashing has made those who play it and are 'good' recognise themselves as some sort of nobility? Seems to me most best communitys come out of games that brains need to be used for, in other words simulation games. Racing games have great communities, always friendly people on Toca servers, the occasional ass hole rammer but fine apart from that. OFP and flight sim games create a great community, mostly becuase they require a certian level of skill and deter most of the hardcore FPS gamers.

Flight sim communities are the nicest out there, I'm sure. When I used to play Combat Flight Simulator 1, 2 and 3 (Microsoft) there was the nicest guys on there. Probably because all the players are over 20 most of the time. -------------------- |

I hope HL2 E2 will be out soon, because I heard it will be released first in 2007. I love the HL2 story and I can't wait for it to continue! -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

The 'Valve' Community is just absolutely different when compared to the OFP community. Yet I do play CS:S/HL2 because the engine is such remarkable if you ask me. Also, Garry's Mod (a HL2 mod) is always enjoyable. -------------------- |
