In my opinion the one thing that could be greatly improved on the site is the search feature. I think where it is located on the page as well is less than idea. I personally think it would be better served if these changes were implemented. 1. Place the search module at the top of the page where it is typically located on most site templates. The current location could easily be overlooked at a glance because it is located where many sites login module is located. 2.The default parameters is set to "exact" under the advanced options. Not everyone is technically savvy, It would not only serve the advanced user but the novice and the just plain lazy ones as well when they enter a search and the default setting is set to "any" or "all" words. That would at least bring back some result when a query is entered. 3. Lets face it, there are so many people out there that just plain expect convenience. If they have to do a little work they will more than likely look for a place that they don't have to. thx. Unfortunately, moderators don't have too much control over the layout and design of the forum. You'd be better of posting this suggestion in the site comments thread. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

I've been noticing this behaviour for a while now, but thought that it would be corrected after a while, but it hasn't. What I mean is this:
http://forum.armedassault.info/index.php?s...amp;#entry65247 This was obviously a spambot. You banned the account, but spambots don't care about banned accounts, since they never use the same account twice, but just register a new one each time. By leaving the links in there, you allow the spambot to operate, it has fully achieved what it set out to do, to place links to rubbish sites on this forum. You have to be pretty thick to click on any links, but this way, you might as well not ban the spambot since it's useless anyway. This is the first time (as far as I can tell) links have remained in a spambot post after the user has been ejected. Moderators are not perfect, you should know this better than anyone ^^ Not to be pedantic, but not banning spam accounts is possibly the dumbest idea I've ever heard. It takes us less than a minute to ban an account. If we simply leave these accounts active they will be used again, I've personally seen attempts by spammers to get their accounts reopened after being disabled, so it isn't a wasted attempt. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Now that the Addon maker section has been removed, why not also remove the "Addon Maker" group since it is (even more) useless now?

I got the following PM:

Disabling the ability of sending PMs for members without any posts will easily solve this problem. I was just about to suggest the exact same thing! Of course, then we have the issue of spambots that post once or twice then send a shitload of PMs... -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

No whining since November 2010, people can't even be bothered to complain about incompetence anymore, so sad
Anyway, I just looked in this section, more specifically the stickies, and found two that have ceased to be of use: http://forum.armedassault.info/index.php?showtopic=4989 <-- Site admin closed the site. http://forum.armedassault.info/index.php?showtopic=4929 <-- I think people got the message by now. I also found one that should be stickied: http://forum.armedassault.info/index.php?showtopic=3294 <-- Recruitment seems silly since one Site Team member can do the work of ten This post has been edited by JdB: Feb 26 2012, 02:57 -------------------- |

Why have the separate ArmA II and ArmA II - Operation Arrowhead not been merged? It is a bit redundant having separate sections, especially considering there are no separate sections for OFP and Resistance, or ArmA 1 and QG.

I reported a post in the English section of the forum. D@V£ got the automated message in English. Fr3eMan got it in German while he does not speak German. I figure that's rather inconvenient.

I occasionally get them in French, too. I think it's getting confused with the reporter's language and the receiver's language. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

That it odd, though so long as English mods are receiving the report from English forums in English, the issue is a small one. So long as Fr3eman gets reports in Italian from the Italian forum, also not such an issue and more of a minor annoyance. Though I tend to ignore all of you anyhoo... -------------------- |
