Armed Assault Info Forums _ Armed Assault _ Looking for help putting together a mission mod

Posted by: nickblack423 Mar 21 2011, 17:12

I am sorry if this post is in the wrong place but I looked around and couldn't find anywhere more relevant to post it.

I am new to ArmA but have experience in creating add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator series. I am looking to try and create a mission as a training aid (I am a Police Firearms Officer) and wondered if anyone would care to lend a hand in helping me to realise this.

I believe it would require a custom set of buildigns, probably using a default island but I would not know as I have not spent enough time looking at the mission creator. It would also require custom Units, weapons and vehicles (depending on what there is already available on the net).

If anyone is willing to help me out, or point me in the right direction please let me know by PM or by email to nickblack423 [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk.

I posted this request at Armaholic.com and all I got was a downright disgusting reply from one of their moderators who then proceded to sarcasticly berate me and then delete my post. I hope the same will not happen here.

Many thanks for reading this.

Nick

Before you make any requests, I'd suggest you have a play around in the mission editor and have a look what addons are available.

Chances are people won't be able to put a lot of their efforts into making something for just one mission though. Bear in mind a very simple addon (say, a rework of one of the sample models) can take over 20 hours before it's in any sort of finished state. Stuff like new buildings, vehicles and weapons will take a lot longer. Unless you're talking about a big mission, I'd use existing addons whenever possible. (If anything, use the vanilla units whenever possible - nothings more infuriating than trying to play a mission you can't find that one addon for)

(I also wouldn't leave your email there, I've taken the liberty of editing your post to put it into a bot-proof format, but these are public boards, I'd advise against using anything other than PMs or simply asking people to post in this thread)
