In my books Edward Snowden isn't a hero. I've heard it many times before and I do fully agree: in a democratic state, which the USA still are (hear hear), there'd have been plenty of legal and sustainable ways to take action against governmental trespass - which prism (unfortunately) not necessarily is if stateside law allows it. He could've approached the senate committee which oversees the NSA and what there is more. Instead he blew the bomb up in a crusade for "freedom" and hid away - in utterly unfree countries where political criminals like him aren't brought properly to trial but sent to forced labour camps. Why is that? Why didn't he just cross the border to Canada where there is no extradition treaty with either? So he was either bought by the Russians/ Chicoms or he's an attention-seeking show-off just like all the internet's other "freedom fighters" such as Julian Assange and Bradley Manning who, oddly enough, only go against the "evil imperialists" as well instead of really risking something.
Well, if us conservatives lose the elections later this year he'll be getting asylum in Germany - our leftists already promised that. -------------------- |

I think you missed the part where they're trying to have him arrested for treason. You know, the reason he's hiding in a foreign country to begin with? Or do you just not see how mind-blowingly stupid it is to try ratting out the organization that is spying on everyone to the organization that is spying on everyone?

Well if he was on the plane back to Bolivia with the El Presidente he's been diverted into Austria - Flightradar24 tracker flight FAB-001
My take is he was working for the MSS (Chinese intel) after being rejected for SF duty. Chinese wanted to dump him as US - China relations have thawed over the past half decade and to avoid a black bag Snowden went rogue to the press and turned up on the HK doorstep. They stuck him a safe house and dropped him off at the airport telling him to never come back. He went to Russia to blarb to the FSB in return for asylum and they told him to feck off as their not stupid enough to cuddle up to a wanted US spy. FSB probably stuck him in a safe house until they can find a suitable method of kicking him out that doesn't involve a toe tag. -------------------- |

Amen to that one. Although you do get to watch the sunrise and get pics like this -
(This hasn't been instaf*cked) My beef this week is with my brother & Amazon. Twit spent 3k on a new camera and unsurprisingly they double charged him lol. First they said they never took the 2nd payment then they said he was trying to commit fraud. Hes now stuck trying to find a lawyer stupid enough to sue a multinational company -------------------- |

Its the usual big company bull. Paypal did something similar to a group of friends who all chipped into an account to rent a tennis court for a year. Paypal grabbed the lot, said it was fraudulent and told them they'd need to take paypal to court to recover the money. After a request from the bank to find out where the money was being kept it turned out to be in a stupidly high interest account in the Bahamas ... After 6 months of legal wrangling and red tape Paypal suddenly gave the money back weeks before it went to court.
Its Internet 101 - If its too good to be true, it is. That stunning red head is a man and don't spend more money than you can afford to loose! *facepalm* -------------------- |

Well, maybe you guys have less strict commercial laws over there tempting the companies to become all cocky... I really hadn't heard of something like that before.
With that being said, it happens quite often here that banks defer wire transfers for a day or two in order to increase the sums available to them. Annoying: When Google displays search results that don't even contain one of the words of the query. Even targeted commands don't work anymore as they used to. Sorted by relevance? Pfff as if. I can think for myself, you know? I ain't no Steve Jobs-worshipping Facebook-drone! -------------------- |

What's the temperature on your isles? Odd. Here it's much more pleasant weather than during the horrible heat wave three (?) weeks ago. Hot, but with constant winds and comfortably dry air.
Annoying (just to stay on topic): scumbags with a 160db custom stereo in their stupid pimped ride. -------------------- |

It's perfect over here, been swimming in Coniston several times, absolutely gorgeous. Hope it lasts.
Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow though. Can't say exactly where I work, but it involves wearing heavy overalls, working within a large piece of metal, inside a giant shed. Not ideal. -------------------- OFP/Arma addict turned forum lurker.

[Annoying]
* Samuel Koch. Several years ago the guy broke his neck in a stupid and reckless game show stunt and has been omnipresent ever since with books and shows and whatnot. I cannot take pity on someone who foolishly and utterly unnecessarily endangered his health for game show profit and now presents himself as the nation's First Victim. But you musn't say that unless you want the bleeding hearts zerg you for being an "insensitive prick". What about the poor buggers who become paraplegic by a hard work's accident or something like that? * The Spanish ranting about Gibraltar but when it comes to Ceuta and Melilla being all like "that's not the same thing". * Election campaigns. My own party's is fluffy and insubstantial but at least we're not downright lying nor being unfair towards others. The others are. "That's what you say", you might think. Well, it's a difference whether you write on your posters "Vote for me" or "Don't vote for that other asshole!". * Edward Snowden and all the "OMFG!1!1!NSA1!1!!"-drama. * Inflation. Food prices have gone up almost 10% due to a mixture of long winter, hot summer and severe flooding and storm damages. -------------------- |
