Just want to post some WIP pics of the first map I'm doing for Arma. This is a second version which has a larger scale (6x6km) to include a small town and also a higher resolution sat map.

Found that the Mask map changes the look of the satellite dramatically depending on what detail texture it's representing. Can anyone explain this to me? It really bothers me that a lot of work can be put into the satmap, only to have the maskmap change the overall look =\

These pictures show the version which hasn't had the satmap perverted by the mask yet...

you have to paint the mask texture directly over the sat one: how?

Open the sat in PS, then make a new layer with transparency of 60%, then decide what colors you want to use to represent (for xample green for grass texture, yellow for rock one, blue for desert one and so on) then start painting it.

PAY ATTENTION: you can use only 4 colours in a layer, otherwise you will have some annoying problems when comes to check the island and see the textures on the ground
