Following on from my Factions and Weapons sections on these Forums, I've decided to include the recently released Vehicles too. I will update every time BIS release new information.
Official ArmA II Vehicle Site Vehicles in ArmA 2 come in unsurpassed numbers and variety: civilian cars and boats, military cars and trucks, wheeled and tracked armored personnel carriers, tanks or aircraft; all of them created with strict attention to detail. Every vehicle in the game can be controlled by both players and AI alike and provides features authentic to each vehicle. -> Features: -> A unique simulation of various types of vehicles. -> Various in-vehicle roles: commander, driver, gunner, assistant gunner. -> Accurate weaponry, including optics, tracer rounds and effects. -> Speed differs according to type of surface. -> Vehicles differ in many aspects according to their real-life specifications (e.g. speed, sturdiness, fuel capacity). -> Dust effects when driving over certain surfaces, rotor downwash effects for helicopters and VTOL aircraft. -> Destructible wheels and limited partial destruction. -> Destroyed vehicles turn into wrecks, explode appropriately according to the amount of fuel and ammunition they contain. -> Burning and secondary explosions of wrecks. -> Some vehicles feature simple defensive countermeasures. -> Virtual Heads-Up Display in several aircraft. Vehicle Sections: Tracked Military Vehicles: Tracked vehicles are armed with powerful long-range cannons, machineguns and guided rockets. They provide tactical superiority in ground combat and are perfect for penetrating enemy defenses. ARMA 2 features main battle tanks and APCs from the Cold-War era through to the most recent, modern designs. 2S6M Tunguska: The 2S6M Tunguska (NATO reporting name is SA-19 Grison) is an Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft tracked vehicle with a surface-to-air gun and missile system. It is able to withstand heavy enemy fire thanks to very robust armored construction and finds its key strengths in the areas of low-level maneuverability and accurate weapons delivery. Su-25 Picture ArmA II: Fixed Wing Aircraft Civilian Vehicles: Civilians prefer to use the sturdy and easy to maintain Eastern European make car that they're familiar with, whether it's their personal family car, or the wood-hauling truck they use for work. Sadly due to the horrible conditions of the local roads most cars native to Chernarus are in poor condition. Urban Cars: Want to haul some wood to your cottage, drive your spouse to a shop in Chernogorsk or sneak through checkpoints with several bottles of vodka stashed in a cardboard box? Either use a car of your choice or take a bus. If you see the white-yellow car behind you, put the pedal to the metal! Urban Car Picture VW Golf Picture Bus Picture Police Car Picture Cargo Transport: No matter what needs to be transported, the trucks can do it all: gravel, lemonade, guerillas or weapons. Well, dunno about NATO stuff, but USMC won't use M113-s or maybe Bradley-s too. For armored personal carriers they use LAV25s and AAVs and both are in game |

The USMC doesn't use the M113 or the M2A2 Bradley.

It is a hybrid vehicle, so maybe it will go into a "Specials" section. As far as the ingame class is concerned, "planes" would be slightly more logical, but who knows, maybe they'll have added more classes to the game.

V22 is a VTOL craft, seeing as the JSF appears to be the flagship Fixed Wing craft I guess it'll be in that category...
I seem to recall it was in one of the demo videos... appears to inherit from the plane class like the harrier Very sneaking adding of the MLRS like that.... wonder how it'll work ingame... r Very sneaking adding of the MLRS like that.... wonder how it'll work ingame... Hm , well i gues the best way to implement it would be something like this . The cordonates are given by soliders or by an aerial vehicle . The "gunner" in the MLRS / 21 GRAD , punches in the digits manualy and then he hits the " execute " button . Then the MLRS will start fireing in a aproximate radius of those cords . This post has been edited by Maionazee: Apr 6 2009, 19:46 -------------------- Graphics dont make a game

*UPDATE NEWS*
The Fixed Wing Aircraft have been revealed on the Official ArmA II Website. Fixed Wing Aircraft: No military simulator is complete without a hangar full of planes for the gamer to fly around in! Most fixed-wing aircraft in the game are state-of-the art jet fighters or attack planes, armed with cannons, laser-guided bombs, iron bombs, unguided rockets and guided missiles. Some planes are capable of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL). A-10: The A-10 Thunderbolt is a single-seat twin-engine straight-wing jet aircraft used by US Armed Forces. The aircraft is designed to provide close air support for ground forces by attacking tanks and armored vehicles. It is armed with a dual Hydra rocket system, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, four AGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground tactical missile launchers, three Mark 82 low-drag general-purpose bombs and with a 30 mm gatling cannon. A-10 Picture AV-8B (Fighter): The AV-8B Harrier is a single-seat attack aircraft that provides powerful air support for the Marines. The AV-8B can perform Short/Vertical Take-Off or Landing (S/VTOL) making it ideal for improvised airfields and carrier launches. It is armed with a dual Hydra rocket system, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, six Mark 82 low-drag general-purpose bombs and with a 25 mm cannon. AV-8B Picture C-130J: The C-130J “Super Hercules“ is an American tactical airlifter. This four-engine turbo-prop military transport aircraft is capable of transporting up to 92 passengers or up to 33 tons of cargo. The C-130J with a range of more that 5.000 km and maximum speed of 671 kph is considered to be most important transport aircraft worldwide. C-130J Picture F-35B: The F-35 Lightning is a single-seat single-engine stealth-capable military multirole strike fighter. It is capable of providing close air support, tactical bombing or air combat missions. The F-35B is the Short-TakeOff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant of F-35 prototype. It is armed with two guided bomb units, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, and with a 25 mm cannon. F-35B Picture MQ-9: The MQ-9 Reaper is a combat ready unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It is the first purpose-designed hunter-killer UAV designed for long endurance high altitude surveillance. The MQ-9 is capable of carrying 14 AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles as well as two GBU-12 Paveway laser-guided bombs. MQ-9 Picture MV-22: The V-22 Osprey is a multi-mission tilt-rotor military transport aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) abilities. It is designed to operate in a similar capacity to conventional helicopters but with the long range and high speed performance of a turboprop cruiser. The V-22 is able to reach speeds of 509 kph and can transport up to 32 passengers or up to 7 tons of cargo. MV-22 Picture Pchela-1T: The Pchela-1T is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed in Russia. Its primary uses are surveillance and observation or target designation. Pchela-1T Picture Su-34 (Fighter): The Su-34 (NATO reporting name: Fullback) is a Russian-made two-seat fighter-bomber and strike aircraft. As with many modern bombers the pilots sit side by side. The Su-34 is equiped with GSh-30-1 30 mm cannon, six Kh-29 air-to-surface missile systems, four AA-11air-to-air missile platforms, and two S8 air-to-surface missile platforms. Su-34 (Fighter) Picture Su-25: The Su-25 (NATO designation: Frogfoot) is a single-seat twin-engine jet aircraft developed in Russia. It is able to withstand heavy enemy fire thanks to very robust armored construction and finds its key strengths in the areas of low-level maneuverability and accurate weapons delivery.
