Hi,
Really interested in playing ArmA online. I've been playing OFP since its release, my most played game actually. But only ever single player. The only multiplayer gaming experience I've really had is with CS, years and years ago. I'd just like to know how to get started. What kind of thing to look out for. Cheers, Jack. |

Hi,
1) Say 'Hello' when comming in game 2) Listen writed orders 3) Read the brief 4) Don't take a chopper if you are going to use it as a taxi 'just for one journey' or if they are essentials 5) Be carefull with admins 6) Don't TK, and if you do one then apologize yourself with the guys what you killed 7) ... It's a short list... I am sure that I forget things on it, but that should be fine -------------------- This is my totaly useless signature Lazyness = mc² |

Lo buddy,
sweet list Rewan ... hope u dont mind if i add to it a bit ^^ To access the multiplayer: Click 'Play' on your ArmA main screen then 'Multiplayer'. This will open into a new screen. Wait a few seconds as the green bar along the top shows you the active servers list is loading. Rooms will appear all randomly down the big open space in the middle of the screen. At the top there are the column names. You can double click on these to organise the list. Your best bet is to organise the list by the number of players to see which rooms are the most popular. Another way way to find rooms is to filter. Filter is the middle button at the bottom of the screen. In there you can look for specific rooms, number of players, ping, missions etc. It will remember your filter so you will have to press 'default' on the fliter screen to go back to all the results. You will notice that every time you filter or refresh the list will change. Thats because the rooms update information contantly ie: people joinging rooms. Loosing a good room is very easy which is why filtering becomes quite handy. Once you choose a room you want to try, double click on it and it will enter you into the room. Bare in mind if there are 59/60 players in the room it will take some time to get in. Some times a room will be full or if you have custom face/music it will kick you and a message will come up - If so try another room. Once into the room you will see a list of user names down the right hand side, a blue button, a red button and a white button on the left below a mission details panel. Below the buttons is the positions that are available for you to play. By clicking on the buttons you can choose which side you would like to play on. Your user name will change colour depending on what side your on. If the room is empty you can use commands to take control and become admin. The main ones are #vote admin username which will make you admin and #missions which will take you to the missions available on that server. Also the word 'admin' will appear next to your username. Once ingame to kick people use #kick username. All these commands should be typed into the chat box (/). Once you have chosen a side press the 'ok' button. This is refered often to 'green up' as once pressed your name goes green ... Just like in Ofp ^^ ArmA has join in progress so no more waiting around for the game to end. If the game has already started a bar will appear and start to load you into the game. If the game hasnt started yet you have to wait untill the admin presses go. Take into consideration that if the mission has been running for several hours that there will be alot of information for you to download and it could take a long time (15+ mins) so best thing to do is escape out and choose another room. Once loaded in you will be greated with the map and briefing. Again press ok (green up) and then once its ready to start it will load you into the game. A good mission to start out on dude is 'Airport' - filter search for it. Controls:
cheers, Carver -------------------- |
