Benoist chap we've all got cynical and megalomaniacal in our early 20's ... countries are acceptable stand-ins for girls right? This second incarnation of our local community is far more satirical. You could say we bend the rules so far we may as well call them gay. This isn't 'online' where everyone takes everything as a massive personal insult ... Do you see any American members?
My honest opinion of the Falklands would be to say we share the land and pass the oil to Argentina. War and loss of life is pointless in todays age within the western world as it was in the 80's. The only difference being Cameron isnt facing a hammering in the ballot. Well said Jdb - If this was facebook id like that! Im gunna be cheeky and change my name and re-join the same server ... The admin kept asking how to ban ip's ^^ When A3 -------------------- |

The only difference being Cameron isnt facing a hammering in the ballot. That sort of plan would require political leaders who don't act like children... Sharing territory would never work in practice, though. An independent Falklands would be the best solution... the US aren't exactly complaining about Canada, are they? (Well, aside from that time they did and we ended up having to burn down their capital... I'm starting to think we might not be the best at this diplomacy thing...) -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Falklands can't be an indepent state, we would not allow it, not because it isn't right, because we are more eager to die for pride rather than use common sense. Hell, I'll never forget how I said "Falklands" instead of "Malvinas" once, they didn't kill me only because I was in uniform and talking to civilians.
And share the islands would be a suicide for the politician who agrees to that, even if he's not the Head of the State, the competition won't forget something like that, such a treacherous action. EVEN if we get the oil. Speaking of considering dying as a glamorous thing, your military cadences have, in every verse, how awesome is to die for the motherland? When we were out for training I felt more like a suicidal than a marine singing those songs. There is one song from the 601 Air Assault Regiment that fully illustrates my point, but I don't remember it. This post has been edited by Benoist: Jan 3 2012, 22:39 |

Hell, I'll never forget how I said "Falklands" instead of "Malvinas" once, they didn't kill me only because I was in uniform and talking to civilians. Ah, but it changes the dynamic for other nations. See, when Argentina invaded the Falklands last time, they got away with it because of the dogma against imperialism (I don't see the issue with Imperialism, frankly, I think the Soviets and Americans were just jealous they couldn't do it half as well as we did ), if the Falklands were independent, it'd change the foriegn media perception of Argentina from a modern state smashing away the final pillars of an ancient imperialist system into, well, another Tibet. And it wouldn't make an invasion any easier, as the Falklands would more than likely remain part of the Commonwealth, if anything, that'd make it harder, threaten one of us, threaten all of us and whatnot. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Just give the damn islands to the Kiwi's. If any other nation knows enough about sheep and penguins - it's them.
Plus on the whole they are decidedly non-threatening. If anything they will invite the Argentines over for beer and to swap wine. I'll happily swap some nice Argentine reds for some from the Barossa myself -------------------- |

[...]I think the Soviets and Americans were just jealous they couldn't do it half as well as we did ) Well, your Empire has more than a milenia, if the USA had managed to be an independent state in 1600 they'd have gladly embraced Colonialism, only that it'd have been with a more politically correct name... 'cus it would have been FOR FREEDOM. And the soviets had their share of "imperialism", or almighty socialism as they called it, with all their satellite states. Just give the damn islands to the Kiwi's. If any other nation knows enough about sheep and penguins - it's them. Plus on the whole they are decidedly non-threatening. If anything they will invite the Argentines over for beer and to swap wine. While the Kelpers [demonym which they don't like anymore] are non-threatening, friends of my who been in the islands told me that they're not very friendly with the Argies, with reason of course... After all, we invaded their home, or as my officers used to say we "liberated them". Never knew that they had asked for our help... Of course, my friend told me about most of the adults that lived there, as always, newer generations leave those feelings behind and ask themselves "who are those weird neighbours we have?" |

Invade France or the Soviet Union and everyone goes "meh", invade Belgium or sink a passenger line or two and you get public damnation: Weird. Belgium, isn't that the can't-decide-if-French-or-Dutch-place you mow down when heading to invade France?Oi, I've got that one covered! A German arrived at the Paris airport and got through customs. "Are you here for business or vacation?", the officer asked. "Business", the German replied. "Occupation?", the Frenchie next wanted to know. The German shrugged, "No, just a couple of days." -------------------- |

Weird, Jari is no longer in the forum, isn't he?* And any news from Rellikki? I liked that guy, young and with the problems that a teen has, but cool mate anyway.
*For the English guys, I used a negative there, but it wasn't with the "is", I should have ended the question with "is he?" or as I did? |

Scorpy pops his head up here occasionally and is also around the Zeus TS3 server from time to time.
As for english question*: Jari is (still) on the forum, isn't he? - Is the closest to native English, where "isn't he/she/it?" is used instead of "is he/she/it not?" Oddly enough as you have it written you should have ended it with "is he?" General rule of thumb: If your asking something in that fashion the question bit at the end is generally the opposite: is followed by isn't, is not/isn't followed by is Isn't English a funny language... *Easiest way of putting it would be a straight up: Is Jari still on the forum? And any news from Rellikki? I liked that guy, young and with the problems that a teen has, but cool mate anyway. He betrayed us to lead a life of hedonism on the BI forums.
