Yesterday I ordered a computer SPECIFICALLY to play ARMA2
(i guess i should have asked BEFORE placing the order, but too late now) Will this do the game justice? Intel® CoreT i7-960 3.20 GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366 Single Hard Drive (1TB (1TBx1) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD) Xtreme Performance in SLI/CrossFireX Gaming Mode Supports Single Monitor VIDEO1: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [DirectX 11 Support] (Major Brand Powered by ATI) VIDEO2: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [DirectX 11 Support] [+189] (Major Brand Powered by ATI) Asus P6T Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Mainboard Triple-Channel DDR3/1600 SATA RAID w/ eSATA MEMORY: 6GB (2GBx3) DDR3/1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand) OS: Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium (64-bit Edition) 850 Watts Power Supplies (In-Win Commander IRP-COM850 SLI/CrossFireX Ready 80 Plus Modular Active PFC) HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO In a few months I will also be looking for an online squad of 'Mature' 'Soldiers', who will also be willing and patient to train a 'noob'. A squad i can 'grow' with. Until then ... [Displaced Jamaican] IRIE. |

Also make sure you patch it to 1.04 at least.
Where abouts do you live dondaddah? Romeo 2.5 could be a good squad for you. -------------------- OFP/Arma addict turned forum lurker.

I've had an absolute nightmare with what was supposed to be my 'dream' machine. Yes, a bad dream (pun intended) I don't want to bad mouth the PC vendor, so i wont. However, i'd like to report that 2x ATI-5770's in CrossFire is still not 'robust' enough to handle the game. I'm now waiting to give 2x 5850's a try. Quick question: Is the 1.05 patch an 'Accumulative' Patch, or do i have to apply all the earlier patches in sequence. Thanx in advance for a reply. IRIE. ps: is there a URL to preview Romeo 2.5? |

You should be fine.
I am running a core i7 920 (2.6ghz) 6gb corsair ddr3 Single Radeon 5850 Soundblaster X-Fi I run everything maxed out (just 2x AA) 1680x1050. I havent checked the fps with any tools, but never had any noticeable frame drops unless I have a ridiculous amount of models on screen at one time. |

TSD1, could u tell me what your settings are in the ATI 3D control panel (AA, AF, Mipmap etc.) and Secondly: Has there been a change in the format for stringing 'addons' in the Arma2 short cut? In Arma1 i used to string the mods separated by a semi-colon (eg: -mod=@mod1;@mod2;@mod3 etc.) I saw this strange format somewhere: "C:\...\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@MAP -mod=@mod1 -mod=@mod2 -mod=@mod3 ... Is the later the 'new' and 'correct format? (with "-mod=" before every mod)? Sorry if all these questions are 'nausiating to you vets ... please be patence with this humble 'noob'. IRIE |

No. I don't think the "strange format" worked in OFP, so a lot of members use the first syntax because of force of habit. Though, to be honest, I don't know if the "strange format" works in ArmA.2 either.

[/quote] Very sorry about that. Lesson Learned. i was getting i little impatient i guess. Wont happen again I am up an running and loving every minute. I intend on 'honing' my skills before i venture into a coop and embarass myself. I am anxious to try the coop experience with coms though. I do have two nagging but minor hiccups: Lost the animated carrier flyby after i installed ACE2 ... now i have animated under water for my menu screen. Any quick fix? Got the "invalid civilian crew" error ... but it went way After i removed my beloved Vopsound_2.1 sound mod from my mod string. Any quick fix? (maybe by removing one small part of vop?) I'll check back in 48 hours so that i dont violate the "bump rule". ~SALUTE~ IRIE. |

No carrier flyby is a "feature" in ACE. I don't know why tbh. Probably to reduce loading time or something.

Which is what I meant too. The menu background in ACE2 has been replaced with a black screen. Or at least it should have. I assume this reduces loading time for the menu (no need to open a complex sqm file, scripts and whatnot)
