I lost all respect after I saw a video where the game developer said:

"As you can see I got shot in my head, is nothing serious but I'm bleeding a lot."

For what I'm seeing in the demo, even with my crappy PC, I like the game, but I'm not going to "taste" it right until I can buy (or steal) a better computer.

Cannot judge the game in overal as so far I had the opportunity to play around with the Demo version only - but the first impressions are quite positive to say the least.

First, my expectations were not high - no requests for uber-reality or fancy functions like fastroping, but a stable and enjoyable platform for future mods to come. I am not disappointed whit what has been presented to us; there is plenty of fun-stuff inside already; can imagine that the full version will be most enjoyable.

Graphics are nice but sadly not consistant, at some spots you see you deal with a new game and engine - sometimes things look not very different from A1 [As when you look at a distant forest through binoculars, when there's no vegetation on the ground etc.]. Water effects and reflection is really an enjoyable improvement.

Texturing is a big PLUS; like the new shaders a lot + the detail that has been given to the most hardware in A2. Lots of leaks, scratches, mud splatter [fresh and dried], plus how the metal reacts to lighting conditions - superb! New vehicle textures are definately what I can call 'spot on!, that's how I like it, my style, yeah! wink.gif'
there is really a lot 'going on' on these textures as it should be when we talk of vehicles in combat, traversing different terrain in different weather conditions. Nicely defined edges and not too overdone 'usage' symptoms.

Unfortunately there are some minor disappointing things like the BRDM2, which seems to be a straight port from A1 and does not stand a comparison to the quality presented to the BMP for example. blink.gif

Uniform textures are nice, lots of nice details like sews, folds, fabric grammature - and all is a little bleached as it should be (!), finally soldiers look not too 'candylike' in brand new uniforms just received from the quartermaster. Bleached and worn out + a good approach on the saturation [especially like the M81 woodland here and Flecktarn]

Plus for very detailed gear textures!

Gameplay is a different animal here smile.gif Most pleasing experience and really a nice surprise to see the AI react to situations like it was never seen in ArmA. Seeking cover, searching the immidiate surrounding for enemies, overal a good feel of immersion.
The new 1st person view is a highly welcomed addition to the overal experiance, especially when you run through the battlefield with tanks firing, cars exploding [nice dust effects!] and people falling near you.. The option to level the head shaking is nice, as for some people with vision issues [like me] it may be too shaky and you loose the fun factor wanting to throw up after 20minutes...

Some rather serious glitches like soldiers standing in the middle of the road, not willing to step aside only to be literally 'pushed-aside' [and eventually ran over remind of worse ArmA experiences from the past... yet this not affects the overal judgement, besides it's still ArmA even if the number changed, you love it and embrace it with its bugs or you hate it.
[Funny, but with time less and less..that some individuals tend to display both reactions at one time, tending to the 'hate-side' even without having actually played it...]

Surely a big plus!
Awaiting the full version to enjoy the games' full potential.
I am very pleased to have been running the demo on very high settings [no AA though] and get a stable average of 30/40 fps on my relatively old rig and an 8800GT

This all could sounded too positive - but as said - realism and balistics will be done by the mods for everyone's personal taste for sure. What we got so far as a 'base' for future modifications is good and several times more enjoyable than 'ArmA I' when it first appeared.
