Have to ask, why did you make this addon? In realism terms, I very much doubt the Mi17 can fire Vikhr missiles. In gameplay terms, not only is this totally overkill, but the Ka50 already fills this role.
Why not make something useful, such as a medevac varient? -------------------- OFP/Arma addict turned forum lurker.

AFAIK they can carry 9K114 Shturm in packs on the outriggers but never seen an upgrade for use with the Vikhr.. Maybe set a goal of making something like the Mi-8AMTSh or Mi-17-1(SH)?

Why should everything be 100% real? He did spend his private time on it and that should be appreciated !
Hell even if he'd fit a nuclear bomb underneath it, why not? Creativity, that's what it's all about ! Don't start a flamewar in here, if you don't like it...don't download it. You aren't forced (for now...wait until ArmedAssault.info rules the world muahahah ) -------------------- |

QUOTE Why should everything be 100% real? That's not what I said Deadeye. I feel he's wasting his time on some of these addons (although I understand everyone has to start somewhere, look at Rebl Man and Vilas!) I just think he could better spend his time using his skills (which I lack completely) making addons that are either realistic or otherwise useful/missing. The Ka-50 fills the role of an attack chopper nicely, so seeing as BigMike likes to edit existing models, why not create what is needed but doesn't exist in game yet? Such as: Mi-17-IVA Flying Hospital - Allow it to heal units in the config otherwise aide/transport the wounded and away you go! Mi-17PG Electronic Jamming - Could work with a scripter to add some funky radar jamming abilities. Would make a tasty and important target for AA teams. Has 6 X shaped antennas on the aft fuselage. Mi-19 Command Post Version - Mission makers could make this a primary objective amongst other Mi-17s. Not sure if this is realistic but you could perhaps add smoke marker rounds or rockets for marking targets/directing ground forces. Mi-8AMT Unarmed Civilian Version. Or Mi-8TVK CAS - 12.7 mm nose mounted machinegun, along with 57mm S-5 rockets, bombs, or AT-2/SWATTER ATGMs. Now that's CAS. -------------------- OFP/Arma addict turned forum lurker.

I was chiefly meaning bdfy and all the other who could pop up complaining about the missing realism.
I'm no weapon system expert, so most of the weapons mentioned here sound like food to me -------------------- |

Don't worry about realism :
"In May 2000 India signed a contract for $170 million deal to buy additional 40 Mi-17 helicopters. They will be fitted with sixteen Vikhr-V (AT-16) anti-tank guided missiles." Source: Defencetalk, yugoimport, etc... |

... why not create what is needed but doesn't exist in game yet? Mi-8 ... sweet.Such as: Mi-17-IVA Flying Hospital - Allow it to heal units in the config otherwise aide/transport the wounded and away you go! ... Or Mi-8TVK CAS - 12.7 mm nose mounted machinegun, along with 57mm S-5 rockets, bombs, or AT-2/SWATTER ATGMs. Now that's CAS. How about Mi-24 "Krokodil" as compliment to KA-52? * Maximum speed: 335 km/h (208 mph) * Range: 450 km (280 miles) * Service ceiling: 4,500 m (14,750 ft) -------------------- When you look to see how the sytem works Likely you will find that it doesn't. |
