As a foreigner I could care less and I don't mean to say that Scotland would necessarily be better off as an independent nation (though my fellow Bavarians are in the same situation as them: we pay other people's bills and receive nothing but mockery). All the same a great chance was blown. Even if the Scots did not vote for independence after all I think it's clear that many demand far-reachig change -- way more than the 45% who raised their voice against the union I daresay -- but there's no change to be had by hoping on "reforms". In an existing democracy "reform" means changing the bandages and leaving the wound to rot. Obviously starting all over without repeating the past's mistakes is a more preferrable option.
