It was 2 degrees that morning. The day was sunny and warm.
Canberra winters are cold however that is reserved for the morning and evening hours. Days are usually in their teens with clear, sunny skies. Clear skies meaning frost though... I think it is the UK that has the problem here. Any nation where a summer day of 19 degrees results in t shirts, swim wear and mass consumption of ice cream has it all wrong. -------------------- |

I'm supposed to take from a someone who says spiders dream of nothing more than to befriend humans that not every animal in Australia is dangerous. Right. It's a plot to make unwary tourists die by the dozens and steal the money from their corpses, is it not.

Actually, spiders are one of the best pests. After all, they eat flies and cockroaches, and the eight legged buddies don't eat our food nor contaminate it.

Oh great another spider-friend. Living on the Southern hemisphere really seems to mess with people's brains.

Years ago i was in Spain with some friends waiting for one of them to finish taking a leak on an old stream bed away from the road. It was morning and on the wall above us were hundreds of webs covered in dew. We were poking them randomly whilst we waited. We watched a big butterfly flap past and land next to one of these webs near us when suddenly a massive trap door tarantula spider jumps out and kills it. We look at each other then suddenly realise what were sat next to with these hundreds of webs, crap ourselves, and run away back to the car.
In other news im playing with O2 -------------------- |

Heard loud bangs in the vicinity at about 1:15 am, thought "Gunfire? Probably not".
...now police is all over the place. Damn, had I called them as I considered I could sell my story to the tabloids! In other news, I dreamt of a tornado (the storm, not the plane) last night and it was utterly awesome. Here's wondering what Freud might have to say about this? -------------------- |

Hmm would seem Israel just took out a large stock pile of Assads chem weapons. Judging by the size of that village, the hillside in the distance and the need to burn up the chemicals id say thats a mighty large explosion for non-nuclear arsenal ...

How cute! Try an N1 rocket. Admittedly, it's not supposed to explode, but you can't question those results! -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Hey guys, did I ever tell you how sexy and amazing you all are? - Got an on topic question for you.
O2 Object Animation Got a door im trying to open. Followed Mondkalb's Tutorial to the letter - nothing. (his saved .p3ds and config/cfg dont match anyway?! It'd never work in game!) Followed BIS's own tutorial to the letter - still nothing. (bits missing in this that are in Mondkalb's Tut?) About to go dig up my 3rd tutorial to follow but im gunna ask here too. How the f*ck do you do animation?
soory for bad my english i no speakie [/noob] cheers chaps -------------------- |

CTDs usually stem from the config or model.cfg trying to refer to something on a model that doesn't exist (or models that don't exist), check your points are named properly (remember that it's case sensitive)

The coding side of things has always been a blur to me, never managed to get my head round it in this or anything lol
I copied my files direct from Mondkalb's Tutorial which is the main locked tutorial over on the O2 modeling section on Biforums and tried it word for word including the german names and still no luck. Your right i expect im missing a coma or spacebar somewhere or a word is wrong from german to english translation. http://pastebin.com/6tpxyYfY Config.cpp http://pastebin.com/ESNJhcpG model.cfg http://pastebin.com/duyQ4xpa Stringtable.csv The object that is rotating is called "Door" The axis is called "Door_Achse" The in game menu trigger is called "Door_knoph" Ive checked all the upper and lower case letters (including the uppercase A in Achse and lowercase k in knoph), corrected the numerous file naming errors like TUT_Wall\ missing an 's' (TUT_Walls\) and TUT_Wall_3x3m.p3d reading TUT_Wand ... checked the file structure, correct names in O2 and tried every last way of putting "Door" in different files, different vertices etc .... im lost lol All made more the frustrating that this is 'the' tutorial to follow ... BIS trying to kill off A2 modding in favour of A3? edit: 18:30 - Looks like Mondkalb faked the animation part of his tutorial. Nets full of folks looking for help on it ... edit: 19:41 - Gunna try Frankenstein-ing the paperwork from another other .cfg/config edit: 21:05 - haha well failed hard and nearly corrupted the entire model ... better not play with codes and wait for help -------------------- |

This:
CODE model = "\TUT_Walls\TUT_Wall_3x3m_Ruin.p3d"; Is the wrong way of writing a model path. It should look like this: CODE model = "\TUT_Walls\TUT_Wall_3x3m_Ruin"; This is the point where I get to act smug because that's exactly what I said was probably the issue Also, I wouldn't bother with the stringtable for now, it's just going to cause issues, just define your object names like this until you've got everything working: CODE displayname="My super-dooper awesome addon"; That way if something goes wrong, you know it's not that you've fucked up the stringtable Also also, you should add this to the beginning of all your configs: CODE //Basic Definitions #define true 1 #define false 0 #define VSoft 0 #define VArmor 1 #define VAir 2 #define private 0 #define protected 1 #define public 2 #define TEast 0 #define TWest 1 #define TGuerrila 2 #define TCivilian 3 #define TSideUnknown 4 #define TEnemy 5 #define TFriendly 6 #define TLogic 7 #define ReadAndWrite 0 #define ReadAndCreate 1 #define ReadOnly 2 #define ReadOnlyVerified 3 #define DefaultManWeapons Throw,Put It's handy to have something to reference, so you should probably grab the big sample model for ArmA.1, (which also includes model.cfg and config.cpp files for you to look over), the syntax is essentially the same, just double-check the classes you're inheriting from exist between games. -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

Feel free to be as smug as you like When it comes to these i haven't a clue lol
Thanks buddy! I've changed those bits but still not getting any animation ... See you've lost me again. Whats the big sample model for ArmA.1? Why is that Mondkalb blokes tutorial stickied anyway? Its completely wrong! BIS has to know that. For it to be the recommended tutorial guide by the company for newcomers to the modding community they're either deliberately setting up new guys to fail or really don't care about their fan base. Its crap like this that puts me off buying their products .... edit: ha f*cking ha - found the A1 sample models but BIS website is 'Down for maintenance' -------------------- |
