I've encountered neither of what you've described. That's indeed odd.

I've encountered neither of what you've described. That's indeed odd. Hmmm... maybe it's a problem with FireFox then... I forever rue the day I updated to 3.0! If someone sends me a PM then I'll get a screenshot of it. Well, the problem with them appearing over the assistant seems to have gone at least... EDIT: Or, not. It just doesn't seem to happen all the time, here's a picture! More and more often I get an error message if I want to post something: Method Not Implemented POST to /index.php not supported. It's somewhat annoying. Can't post sh*t in certain topics at the moment. Might be due to the content you're trying to post (being interpreted as terminal commands), or can be totally random. Not a question, but a funny story. I was trying to post something in the Troubleshooting section of the forums when it kept looping (Quick Edit), or coming up with the following error message (Full Edit):
QUOTE Method Not Implemented POST to /index.php not supported. Finally I figured it out. I was posting something about emulators, and used "cd forward slash dvd" (but without spaces). In a terminal/root, this is the command to access a directory if followed by a correct directory name, cd forward slash (without the space) being used to go back to the root of a disc (C:/ for example for windows or //hda1 in Linux). In the case of the forum this amounts to index.php, which caused the problem. I typed out the "forward slash" / because otherwise I wouldn't even have been able to explain this That bitch of a server -------------------- |

I'd like to be removed from the team on the website itself too, because I resigned. You seem to have forgotten to do that.

this is not really cool to erase comments, in the news.

this is not really cool to erase comments, in the news. it seems that BIS has created indirectly a real dictatorship around its products. We do the same for comments directed at addonmakers. Some of the people posting comments have no sense of decency, and feel that rather than providing arguments for the things that they dislike, it is somehow necessary to personally insult addonmakers/BIS staff/Site staff with one-liners, or post degrading remarks at groups of addonmakers, mods and BIS. Such comments are deleted, and the perpetrators will be warned, and possibly reprimanded. It's the same way as racist, facist and other offensive posts are deleted. These same sort of people were the reason that the OFP.info English section comment system was disabled back in the day. It's better to have no feedback than having the same group of people complain at everything and everyone. Also this falls under Site questions/problems/comments, not Moderating Feedback as that currently only deals with the forum -------------------- |

this is not really cool to erase comments, in the news. it seems that BIS has created indirectly a real dictatorship around its products. Please elaborate what was unlegitimately removed today. Numerous comments had to be deleted because they showed a total disregard for the dozens of hours of work both official developers and private addon makers invest in their work and were simply insultive. Constructive criticism is not only allowed but also appreciated in here, however we won't tolerate personal insults. Please keep in mind that whenever opinions about games are discussed, people tend to have disagreements. Aggressive comments will only fuel the risk of a flame war because a strong proponent could react on the strong opponent, and thus we'll always turn our attention to such comments as well. One example: Today in the commentary section someone wrote something like "That's crappy, if you do something then do it well at least" and another one roughly replied "I hate people who make such jerk comments". -------------------- |

I think yesterday's behavior in the specific news post regarding the cover for ARMA II was horrible. I also think that Bence's repeated anti-american comments were out of place, I don't care what your political views [and everyone is free to have differences of opinions]are but we have a place for that in the forums [OT Discussions Political and Military Discussion] and as a member of the site team your comments should be neutral [this should go for anyone posting in a news item]. In the end this site should be about spreading unbiased news surrounding the game at hand and allowing for anyone to view a news item without feeling the possibility of being offended. The fact that certain comments caused a small number of people to feel like armed.assault.info was no longer an unbiased source of information is just unacceptable. When the site loses users, it also loses revenue due to advertising, and thus has a negative impact on the site overall and makes us all suffer. I believe that in the future all site team members should remain neutral when commenting on news items and forum items for the sake of the site.

@communistbastard : Thanks for your critique, we are currently dicussing this issue and more (internally). I absolutely agree that this website should stay neutral and after deleting various comments in the ArmA 2 Cover Thread I PM'ed Bence and we talked about it. However remember that we aren#t bots , we are human beeings with different personalities
@D@nte : Well there's not muh to add to pMaster#s and JdB's post, we want all of our members to display their opinions (may they be positive or negative) but if you do so, do it civilized -------------------- |
