Blowing up bridges Options

Some video's were released showing bridges being detonated with satchel charges. Is there some special way of doing this - by placing them on specific spots on the bridge for example? I've tried many, many times with the charges but the bridge just won't collapse.

You need to put the charges on top of the bridge to ensure destruction. Kinda silly I know, but that's ArmA for ya! (Works for me anyway)

Yeah I figured that part out But do you just place them randomly on the bridge or should they be placed right above a column...?

Dunno really I just place them anywhere on the bridge and it seems to work

in the campaign mission where you need to blow the bridge you have to put them all under the end of the bridge

not sure if this is the same when not in that mission though, will have to play around

Yep it took me several minutes till I found out I had to place all on one spot. Pretty silly

Okay this is really getting frustrating . I've tried absolutely everything - placing them under the bridge on one side, placing them under the bridge on both sides, placing them on top of the bridge all one spot in the center, placing them on top of the bridge all over the place etc. etc.... and no destruction at all.

Might work for you but it didn't result in anything when I tried it .

And it's taking me days to figure out where to place these friggin' charges . All on one spot doesn't work either (neither under the bridge on one spot or on top of the brigde on one spot).

Could someone, by any chance, make a vid with FRAPS or something that shows the unit actually placing the charges and detonating them (other video's only show detonation)?

(and how many charges are needed to blow the bridge anyway?)

You need 5 satchel charges to blow up a bridge. Place them close to themselfs and it should do the trick.

No you dont, there is no locational damage for buildings and they dont detect where i place those things, i just put them on top of the bridge

Just put them all in 1 spot in the middle of 1 bridge'part'

No, seriously, I finally got it now (but not because of that video ). I was only detonating three charges the whole time . And the $500 prize money goes to Rellikki for actually saying something useful (j/k, the rest )! Big thanks.
And now, back to playing the campaign.
