I too have experienced rather personal run-ins with cancer, my Grandma has actually survived breast cancer once and ovarian cancer twice. Modern medicine shall do yee wonders. Simple answer - do not play on Recruit difficulty. It's the only one that forces said feature. |

Make use of punctuation more often please. QUOTE The one thing i hoped they would of done was improved the editor so that you would have under support M119, mortar, helicopters, ambulance, MLRS etc so that you could just put them on the map and then in the mission be able to call them up without scripts to support you this alone would make me rave about this game Well, you already found out that isn't true, but it's hardly a game breaker. QUOTE may be they will in a download soon i can only hope as i have been told OFP 2 has this in there editor so may be that is the one to buy so that missions are quicker to make and start playing. I haven't seen anything mentioned about that in DR, and I've been following both games closely. |

Hey guys. I've recently been able to purchase a new desktop PC to replace my aging laptop. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if the following specs, from experience or from knowledge, would run ArmA comfortably at full settings? Operating system: Windows XP Professional SP3 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, 3.16GHz, 6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB Graphics card: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB RAM: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM @ 1066MHz Hard drive: 500GB SATA 3GB/s, 7,200 RPM, 16MB Cache Just want to be sure before I put the money down on it. Thanks guys. |

Personally, I live in the Middle-East in a country that is not pro-Israeli. My friends at school believe Israel is automatically at fault for this war simply because they're Israel. Plain and simple. No other justification, and they don't think one is needed. Now, when kids are brought up to think this as like an automatic response, it's no wonder Hamas, an internationally-recognized terrorist group, gets elected democratically into government. I wast watching a news show on I believe CNN, and one of the guests being interviewed made a very interesting point. If Mexico was to fire rockets into the US for months-on-end unprovoked, what would you expect the US to do about that? Well, they would do exactly what Israel are doing. Personally, I believe they are defending themselves. I would not want to have to hear a siren warning me to get into a bomb shelter and then have bombs rain down on my home country. Yet the world is calling for Israel, not Hamas, to put an end to this. Granted, Israel is much larger than Hamas and is a lot stronger, but if you tell them to end it you've got to be specific about it otherwise by "ending it" they will destroy Hamas. If Hamas wishes to be taken seriously they should stop getting on TV in these Al-Qaeda/Bin Laden-esque PSAs saying they "will bring death and destruction to Israel and the invading forces", while always ending it with "in Allah's will." It's no wonder these people are considered a terrorist group. I believe the international community does not need to be protesting what is happening, and I don't believe there's any justification at the moment as to why people would back Hamas. Yet, as I said earlier, they do... |

I don't think it will, really. First, you have the 9600. Not exactly the greatest of cards, and we all know how ArmA loves to rape our graphics cards. The processor is also quite average, 2.00GHz doesn't really do that great with ArmA. Question: with the 4GB of RAM is your Vista the 64bit edition? I believe you need to have a 64bit version of Windows in order to utilize an amount of RAM greater than 2GB. Also, people in the past have had lots of trouble with over 2GB of RAM, Vista and DX10(.1) graphics cards. Personally, if you want to be safe, I'd recommend only 2GB of RAM and Windows XP. You're more likely to have ArmA work flawlessly on XP than Vista. Some people will say they have no issues under Vista, but it seems to be a matter of luck. DX10(.1) cards + Vista + ArmA = potential to work like sh*t. I have a nVidia GeForce 7600 Go 256mb VRAM, 2.00GHz T2500 Intel Duo Centrino (2 CPUs) and 2GB DDR2 RAM. Fairly similar, I believe, to the system you're talking about, and ArmA does not run very well on this. Generally around the 20 FPS mark on close-to-lowest settings. It's also a laptop (Toshiba Qosmio G30). |

You talking about what's happening in India, Carver? So far it's not Al Qaeda but another group, the "Deccan Mujahideen" has claimed responsibility. They think that they came in with speedboats launched from another boat that had come from Pakistan. Witnesses have said that they simply fired randomly, but had specific main targets (the Taj Hotel, for example). It's all over the news at the moment. |

I would, but I've never really liked the apocalypse/zombies/nuke/end-of-ze-world theme. But I'll be sure to try out next time! |

Well with Fraps you should set it to save it to .PNG instead of .JPG. You get a much higher quality screenshot. Then, what I do, is edit it and save it as a high quality .JPG in Photoshop. You lose no quality and it looks great. The reason they come out so low quality for you, enad1, is you're using the Paint .JPG comrpession. I believe what Paint does is compresses it until it's under 100kb. If you have Microsoft Office 2003 and don't have Photoshop you can use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager and export as a high quality .JPG. Hope that helps. |

I don't know if you guys were talking to me, but the way I do it is by setting up the scene, finding what it is you want to "capture", pause the game, turn all settings to full apart from Post process effects and increase my resolution. Those were actually all taken at a resolution of 1152x864 Obviously your FPS will drop significantly, but the output is very good. You'd be surprised; the only Photoshop editing I did on those (apart from the logo and border) was Brightness, Contrast and Saturation editing. One thing I've found really makes a difference in the settings is putting Texture detail to Very high. By the way, enad1, Fraps will not do anything to the "darkness" of your screens. What made those screens darker was the contrast editing. Fraps will capture exactly what you see when you take the screenshot. I believe it's just your editing program that is strange. And also, you need to remove that white bit from the sides if you continue to use Paint. I believe the "white part" in Paint that you're pasting the image into is too large width-wise. Around the outside of the white you can see little boxes. Highlight them and it should change to a dual-ended arrow. Resize it so it fits right up against the right side of your photo. That should eliminate the white part you have on your pictures. |
