I'm nearing that state right now. My place is under the roof and has windows only to an adjacent yard leaving me without any circulation whatsoever. It's 02:50 in the night and the temperatur still is at 30°C. Blimey! Two days ago they said a fulminant storm would end the heat wave today. Yesterday "will" degenerated into "could" and currently it's a "maybe question mark".

So that I'm not only talking about the weather here comes a related note: I got myself Dark Souls 2. Dunno what to make of it. Fascinating on one side, on the other hand it's a blasted console port with stupid controls and many dev oversights.

14c is cool to you?!

Yes. Anything under 10 is "cold" and unlike the UK, 22 is not beach weather. I recall a friend who went to London telling us that on the tube oneday they were playing public service messages asking people to stay hydrated and ensure they did not over exert themselves in the heat wave.

It was 25...

That's because we're not as accustomed to the heat, and therefore not as aware about (signs of) dehydration as you are wink.gif

Especially those white skinned gingers from across the Channel feckoff.gif

I wonder how they survive without the internet once they drift off into the wild.

Haha JdB! That's very true, if any British think it's bad wait till you try to persuade a ginger friend to go on holiday to Majorca, they stick to the shade like a moth to flame. Stupid metaphor I know.

What is "hot" over there then? And do you burn or is your skin just used to the amount of constant heat?

Hello 2 weeks annual leave! Time to move house! Do any of you guys play Civilisation 5?

I consider anything over 30 to be hot. But I am a wuss. Most consider 35+ to be "hot." A heatwave is usually considered to be 5 days over 35 or 3 days over 40.

You get used to it. As long as you don't do anything strenuous and drink lots of water it's fine. Swim, stay indoors, shop, go see a movie - lots of ways to keep cool.

I consider doing a term abroad in Iceland.

And stay there. Every now and again I don't like Germany anymore. Most Germans are incomprehensibly stupid. As a bonus it's cool up there!

For nation-building I prefer Tropico. It has things like secret police and taking away people's liberties. Says it all really.

As a new Icelander the British and Dutch contingent on this forum have something to say to you:

You owe us money, pay us or you get a visit from the combined fleet and we'll take all valuables from you, mainly your young women. We have ways to make them earn the money you owe us. Yes, I am referring to the red light district! mad.gif

Which one? I still think the original Tropico is the best.

Aww man why did you have to say that. I don't have the time to install Tropico.

I don't have any particular favourite although performance (optimization) in 4 and 5 seems abysmal.

Ugh... it's so hot. It must be, like, ten degree outside. Send help. I am melting. (or sweating, though I'm pretty sure they're basically the same thing)

Anyone up for some paella? I should add that it's smelling badly, not much to look at, the salt content is rather high due to many bitter tears and a column of Dutch caravans has driven over it, backed up and driven over it again ... unsure.gif

I'll trade you some of my Lament for it.

Here is what I offer:
Lament over how I have no gag reflex, but due to my sexual orientation, I'm unable to make full use of this.
Lament over how no matter how much I'm ever able to love something, it will pale in comparison to how much my dog loves eating.
Lament over how I wish my lament were a currency to rival the Zimbabwean Dollar, but to see my dream unrecognised leads only to a recursive spiral of disappointment, flooding the market with my lament and drastically reducing it's value.

...I don't have low standards, I just really like Paella...
