I just finished the first game but something fcked up my mind. At the final countdown you find a camp with civilians that are saying that the RAC is evil guys that kills civilians. And thats true! In Final Countdown - Tsunami or how its spelled you get attacked by royals... But then you kill them and move on to the city and kill all the SLA and win the game. But in the outro you can see RAC and Americans moving together as friends. WTF is up with that. I dont understand sh*t about the ending or must i buy QG to understand... No i will not buy QG cause that would be like buying Paint. So my question is wtf is happning in the ending or is it happening under the whole game but i didnt see it? Plz tell me whats going on in the end and if QG tells what going on tell me.
Thanks in advance!
It indeed is kinda confusing. However, on the latest entry of William Porter's blog he says the following:
I stopped playing the campaign after the 3rd or 4th mission when you defend Dolores.
You were supposed to defend against tanks and such, but they would either a.) get stuck on the bridges or b.) not show up at all.
Seems to me, if you want a campaign to actually be played, make sure it works at least most of the time. Which is why in the campaign I'm working on, there will at least be redundancy in the scripts to make sure they do.
The Queens Gambit campaign also was not very interesting. I find it hard to make a campaign centered around 6 mercenaries, when on the first misison, 4 of them die (and still show up in future misisons), but that really can't be helped.
BTW! Rellikki ive heard that you were going to make a addon about the russian sub-marine accident in sweden or it maybe was the DC-3 thing. Is this true or just something i have imagined? I would love to have some swedish troops in the game.
It is a campaign that comes up with Queen's Gambit, along with the Royal Flush campaign. Rahmadi Conflict continues the story of the original ArmA campaign (but doesn't answer the questions above) and Royal Flush is set in the future some time ago after the original campaign's conflict.
For what I undertood from William Porter's blog I confirm that those SLA troops where dressed in RACS uniform and shot to the US, not a friendly fire accident or RACS turnover, just a dirty Specops trick.
About the concentration camp looks like the South Sahrani Kingdom (and RACS) was not the kingdom of saints, just what happen every day with several third world (and US allies) countries during their internal fightings.
Just to keep some salt of more realism and war criticism in the happy end of the story.
Anyway in my opinion the campaign story was finished in a hasty for lack of time (or maybe funding ?)
Who knows...
Don't listen to Rellikki, he's clearly been brainwashed by those Royal Fascists, the troops were RACS soldiers sent to silence the refugees. It's elaborated on in the Royal Flush campaign (references to "prison" camps etc.).
Bear in mind that the blog was written from the perspective of a US soldier, so will be biased toward the good guys.
It's likely the "SLA troops in disguise" story is some kind of cover or similar. To be honest, you've seen the SLA strategy, it involves tanks. Lots of tanks. And lots of dudes, with lots of guns. Why the hell would they suddenly switch a tatic that proving to be successful for the entire first half of the war and waste resources stealing RACS uniforms and equipment to attack a refugee camp holding refugees that seem to think they're the Bees Knees. (Also bear in mind that the SLA cited political killings et al as their original reason for the invasion)
Also note:
It's stated the Royals advanced behind the Americans and found evidence of "the SLA's" genocide in the towns they liberated. If you remeber, you actually travelled though these towns on your way to Banago. Where was the genocide then?
I'm sorry, but if you think it was SLA in RACS uniforms, then you're a fool!
(@Killer: 'eh? In the campaign when the Mercs die they're replaced with Resistance Dudes... or at least, they were for me!)
Im going to listen to you Dave cause if i do, the campaign and the storyline gets more fun and execiting... I might even replay the whole campaign. Maybe its just bullsh*t coming out of my mouth down to the keyboard but this make everything new again. Thanks Dave! THis made me really happy and i might even buy QG now! Do you guys think its worth to buy it just for the campaign and for the nice looking desert map? I never play MP cause i have to much addons without key and i dont have time to remove any addons that i like so much. May also be cause i think MP sucks for arma. Too advanced for me to be fun. More into call of duty series. You dont need to think just run around and jump/shooting.
Once more thanks Dave!
