I'm more and more the opinion they should have released Armed Assault all together, even with publisher problems. Now Czech game magazines are taking all the fun. Just read another translated review, which tells me the story is fucked up and just linear, no tension and you do in every mission the same again...

There goes all the fun Hopefully there will be many custom made missions and campaigns to keep Armed Assault alive. I didn't like it in Operation Flashpoint when there was more addons than missions. |

The thing that is important to remember is that this game we are all reciving is just the begining. BIS will have to release all the modding equipment or ArmA will die as we would all go back to modding ofp taking ArmA codes and textures with us. We all know there are going to be problems. We all know there are going to be bits we hate. We've waited nearly 6, our expectations are very high. Remember what ofp looked like when it first hit our shelves. Look what happened to it when 1 million people got their hands on it.
The way im viewing ArmA is not for its game content or amounts of contect. I can change that myself or wait 3 weeks for the first campaigns to be released. No, im viewing ArmA for its graphic and game engine upgrade, to which i belive we have been given a gem. In 4 years time when we are all sitting here only months away from game 2 coming out ArmA will be completely unrecognisable as it is today. I think BIS and Co deserve massive amounts of credit. We shouldnt judge the game on tiny little bits but the game as a whole and I think they have done a very good job from what i can see. cheers Carver -------------------- |

I agree with Homer, everybody should have the chance to make his own opinion of ArmA.Of course I understand these magazines who write articles of ArmA...it's their job.But please stop translating it into german or english...I don't want to know anything until I found it out by myself
Btw,I hope they will release an AI-Patch soon! |

Good Videos , one question though, are the bullet wounds reletive or just death textures as with OFP?

Nah, I think it was just a texture, and he aimed where he knew it would appear. We've all done it in ofp

Good Videos , one question though, are the bullet wounds reletive or just death textures as with OFP? I guess dynamic wound textures aren't used in many games. IIRC first Hitman part had this, you we're able to add thousands of bullet wounds to a body. Well but that's macabre, Armed Assault should use blood textures for realisms sake not for fun and bestialic gore action. -------------------- Former "Uber"-Administrator.

Dude, that is a first class post. One of the best ive ever seen you do
Seriously, wow stuff there. In the second video "Attack the Convoy) you can see some wildlife: birds, dragonflies etc. Was quite funny watching the guy take off and nearly crash. By the looks of things they have made the flight controls a little more manouverable. In the "City Fight (CQB)" it was good to see the AI actually being usefull for once and keeping up with the player. In "Civilian Fighting/ exploration" you get to see a few things. You can see how the trees fall over like on ofp1. The MG does the annoying 'trying to shoot higher' thingy. The Blackhawk turning was sweet. Unfortunatly around the 2.40s mark the t80's barrel goes through the fuel barrels on the back of it. You get to see the m1a1 destroyed not bad, beats the wierd ofp1 destructions. "Civilian Fighting 2" - 2:35s The hummers damage textures seem to 'turn on late' as the user looks at them. 5.00s: The barns textures look like a wall on zoomed on the LAW but when he zoomes out again it looks open. In the civie moves even with all the armourd, troop and heli support the US stuff gets owned by a seemingly smaller russian presance. Just watched video "Penetration". Bug or deliberate alowance of shooting through 'thin' metal? "Abrams" The voices are a little desturbing. The flying debris does not stay on the ground when it lands. A little while ago on the ofp.info forums we all had a good bitch about the 'poor' 3 tier building destruction animations. Well I dont wish to make you feel hard done by but check out this example: VBS2 clip "DynamicBuild_a.mpg" in the .rar 'movie pack 1': http://www.virtualbattlespace2.com/media/m...s/movies_1x.rar (NOT AN ARMA VIDEO) That is what i was expecting in my arma! After years of posts saying 'destuctable buildings' to give us what they did and not that when thay had it? little silly to me and i can see there are going to be a few complaints too from others anyhow sweet movies thanks to the maker, lucky whatsit! cheers carver -------------------- |

Well, I can be sure there will be loads of missions made for ArmA.
I have an idea - perhaps we here at Arma.info should put together a storyline and joint-create a campaign made by our members? That'd be cool -------------------- |

I've ordered the German version to be dispatched to me in the UK once it's released. Anyone planning on doing an English language patch? Otherwise I'll probably buy an English version when it comes out here next year.

Thats VBS1 2. It was never implented in VBS1 because it was highly impractical to use 3. I could make that in OFP aswell (theoretically), but its not possible to use this on alot of buildings while maintaining a good FPS.. I do plan on making the ArmA destruction a bit more 'dynamic' then it is now, by breaking up the building in multiple parts and placing those parts where the buildings should be with some WRP editor. ArmA can handle large groups of objects better then OFP so it should work, but im not sure what to do with the 'interior' of the buildings.. EDIT: Shouldnt 'someone' post these videos on the mainpage? I find ofp.info/armedassault.info a bit missing out when it comes to ArmA stuff -------------------- Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum.
