Haha, truth be told, I didn't ask! All I know is I trust the guy, it has a tightbore barrel that just about pokes into the flash hider (which with it being an SLR means it's about 12ft long), it works like a dream and comes with an SLR sling, six mid-caps and a charged battery. I'll report back on whether it's a STAR or KA.

Nice one Toadball, looks like a great site. Support gunners always seem to have the worst luck! I'll be taking my Contour HD down next weekend, should get some good footage. Not used it yet.

Other team wouldn't agree about bad luck, put down about 2-3k rounds that game and held them up at that ditch for a good 15 minutes tongue.gif
And aye it's a decent site, look up NOMAD Airsoft if you ever feel interested in knowing more.

When they're working properly they're on fire. I've been among six mates that tried forever to get past one M60 gunner who even had a form of ME. Just couldn't make any ground until he had to reload. If he'd had anyone backing him up we'd really have struggled.

Yours truly got his SLR! What a good weekend that was. Norwich is a great site, lots of cool trenches, fox holes, bunkers and scrapes.

Turns out it's a STAR that's been upgraded a couple of times through it's life: long barrel tightbore, mosfet, etc.

Rest of the photo set from the weekend.

That's an interesting take on helmet camo right there. Regarding the gallery, that Mk.IIS Sten looks damn sexy.

Cold War Airsoft

The Soviets were hilarious. One of our Brits lost a tooth towards the end, epic weekend though.

New kit setup:

Fits 5 rifle mags (proven up to realsteel plastic AK 30 rounders), and 3 pistol mags, and some general stuff, here shown with an additional 1 liter canteen in the far left. Also, Energizer über cool flashlight. biggrin.gif

Looks good mate! Not quite your ordinary chest rig anyway. What are the pistol mags for?

Saw a POV of some NATO taking a bunker, quite inmersive.

Oh, and a small question, what do you do with "injured" players? A hit equals to death or I lay in the ground until a team mate patchs me up? I know rules are different in every match, but more or less the standard system you use if you play with "injuries".

The Cold War games have slightly specific rules.

If you're hit by any explosive pyro, you're dead. Hang around for a minute or two, then return to your nearest Command Post. Reinforce your squad or carry out new orders.

If you're hit by a BB, you're injured and have to fall to the ground screaming for a medic. Each player has two bandages that a team mate can "apply" to get them back in the game. Once these are used up, the player is dead and has to return to their nearest CP.

If no one gets to you after a couple of minutes, you bleed out and are considered dead. If you reach enemy wounded, you can mercy kill them (the action of a knife or bayonet thrust) to prevent them being patched up, or to let them go back and respawn (seen as good sportsmanship).

So, and if I have an bandages? Can I use one my own? I know, who'd notice that, but the rules forbid that or what? And after I get to the CP I get my bandages again?

I can't stop thinking like a combat medic, dammit. Oh, btw, speaking of medics... What would be their job, if there are CM?

Ummmm... for my pistol? KSC USP45 GBB mags, pouches themselves are Tactical Tailor with Kydex inside so I'm confident with using the stuff with real steel mags (running El Presidente drills etc), too. Originally they were to be mounted on the open mag pouches, but the .50 cal pocket took 4 instead of 3 PALS rows to mount. Doesn't really bother me since the mags are in a much better position now, anyways.

Currently fitted the vest with about 5.2 kilos of ammo, 1 liter of water in a thermo bottle, the GBB mags and some random stuff. Seems to work fairly nicely with just a technical T-shirt, a few uncomfortable pressure points maybe. Need to test with a field jacket or something... also thinking about replacing the open top magazine pouches with HSGI TACO ones, since they've gotten some really nice feedback. Still need a belt setup also, again considering HSGI and their products.

Nice CW game btw, how big was it? Lots of nice stuff there (L1A1s for starters), with some less serious ones apparently... and the Russians are quite... cheeky. boppin2.gif Any specific safety stuff with all the pyros etc. you have there? Our local field is an old sawmill and is also quite dry during the summers... it's already been burned once, not sure if it was before or after they stopped using it, and we'd rather not have that again, so... no pyros.

Yeah, it's all done in the spirit of the game. If anyone cheats they're in the wrong hobby. You get your bandages back at the CP. There is a medic per side who can move injured players more easily (usually two free hands are required) and I think can apply their own bandages. Don't think I saw a proper medic at the last game though.

It was a massive site, really cool, bunkers, hills and trenches everywhere. There were over 30 players per side. The Red Alliance players tend to be on the crazy side, funny guys and gals though. Shame you guys don't get pyro! Nothing like the rush of knowing you could either blow up a load of enemy or catch it on a branch and get your whole squad killed! biggrin.gif Any over 18s can use pyro over here as long as they aren't home-made. I think the demolition charges are placed by site staff and marshalls.

Your loadout sounds good. I bought a KWA P226 GBB that i'm really pleased with. It's just started jamming though, think it needs a clean. Hopefully nothing serious. tongue.gif

Here're some more pics I took when my L1A1 decided to die on me. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50134819@N07/...57629431558591/

Well... we also have a neighbourhood nearby and a railroad running right by the gaming area, and on top of that - the site has no age limits. So maybe it's good that we don't have pyros, incase some <10-year-old gets hit or something. And pyros include both flashbangs, "nades" and smoke.

Running any holster for that Sig? I'm planning on testing a Safariland with a leg mount at some point... the current one is a King Cobra hard one. Also, interesting note about the rig - it was custom made in Germany (or in Croatia, they produce stuff in both) by the same company that makes bits for the BW IdZ system, and is based on the FDF Recce rig (chest bib might be different and the buckles are better). Well, the company bid for the original manufacturing deal, but lost in price. I think all the other pouches apart from the 2 lefternmost ones are TT or Maxpedition (the velcro covered Monkey Admin), which I've bought mostly 2nd hand.

Oh, and since I'm asking a sh*tload of questions, which equipment do you use for communications? I saw a Handee in a picture, though it doesn't look like the cheap (but sturdy like a rock, and reliable) YAESU 270/250 I use.

PMR446 standard mostly in here. Cobras are quite common.

Yeah, you could do. Obviously it means there's one less bandage for yourself, at least until you end up back at the CP. They're not too strict about things like that, as long as it doesn't damage the mechanics of the game.

QUOTE(Benoist @ Feb 23 2012, 03:19) *

Because I don't recall seeing a dedicated medic all weekend. There might have been one, but I didn't notice.

We just shouted really loudly, I think the squad members had Motorolas. I know next time we'll be using a set of Clansman PRC-349s.

Safariland makes good kit. Very comfortable, very sturdy and quick to draw. Used one with a Glock 17 for close in shoots.

Huh, wasn't aware that you were able to shoot anything down there that would benefit from a quick-draw holster.

Too bad that the GBB rifle selection is so limited atm, and even the ones available might be a bit unreliable... shooting those things is pretty much the same as training on a .22LR. Would be good practise for practical shooting etc. biggrin.gif Getting one or a PTW if I happen to buy an AR platform, though.
