For me:

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem

A friend of mine gave it to me. It looked familiar (the video clip of the first song were showed on Cartoon Network when I was a kid) so as soon as I was pissed I began to watch it.
I don't know if it was the alcohol, the music, the '70 style anime but I find awesome.

What is great is not only the music of Daft Punk (Discovery Album) and the draws of Leiji Matsumoto (Space Battleship Yamato), the story is good and you can understand very well the characters' emotions giving the fact that the movie has no dialoge at all, and few sound efects.

Charlie Wilsons War

Starring Tom Hanks as Charlie Wilson, the parliamentarian who organized the armed resistance in Afghanistan against the Soviets. A frigging great movie, even if the story drags on sometimes, it is totally recommendable.

Cloverfield

8/10 - Really great movie, some parts are a bit unbelievable though - eg. when [someone] dies, how the camera magically falls into a position right in front of his face (it's in the style of a handicam, really innovative ohmy.gif )

I love this film, one of Mr Smith's better ones if you ask me. 9.5/10

'A struggling salesman (Will Smith) takes custody of his son (Jaden Smith) as he's poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor.'

Danny Ocean rounds up the boys for a third heist, after casino owner Willy Bank double-crosses one of the original eleven, Reuben Tishkoff.

I've actually seen this movie back in June but I watched it again just for shits and giggles. Soundtrack's great too, by the way.

The Bourne Ultimatum, not sure what to think, I liked the first and second ones more: 7/10

A bit pathetic, but a good movie altogether. 7/10

The author of the review is right. You watch a movie of 2 hours length and just have to pay full attention all the time, and even if some scenes appear unnecessarily long to you, the overall impression of the movie and especially the play of George Clooney leave is amazing. Sydney Pollack (should be well known among thriller fans) is truly a guarantor for good movies, the same applies to Tony Gilroy who directed "Michael Clayton"; As a playwright, he has edited the screenplay for the "Bourne" trilogy.

Definitely 10 out of 10.

9Th Company, or "9 Rota" in Russian. The story is interesting because it is still a mess in Afghanistan, you can easily exchange the Soviet soldiers for coalition troops, and so it relates pretty well to the present day. The action was shot a bit too fast at times. Although it is a realistic way to portrail hand to hand fighting, it is a little hard to watch. Considering it is a Russian movie, they seem to have gone all out with the money spent on equipment and fireworks. Better than a lot of "realistic" American movies that have many times it's budget.

JdB, saw 9th company a while ago, very good film. Saw it with some friends who arn't exactly into their military stuff. tongue.gif But they all thought it was a good film non the less. Very gritty.
Perhaps a little too many far fetched moments... But refreshing to see a Hollywood caliber movie from the east.
Avalla'ch
You are damn right Daniel !
I saw 9-ya Rota too tongue.gif

Well, soome scenes were a bit cheesy but as a Movie based on Afghanistan war its damn good. Nice to see russians as "normal soldiers" rather than american "russian child-eaters" tongue.gif

I watched Downfall, its about the last days that Hitler spent in the bunker in Berlin as seen from the eyes of his Secretary.

Its bloody good! The actor for Hitler seems pretty good in that he has no idea whats going on, and it all seems very authentic. For me this gets 9/10 biggrin.gif
Toadball
got it on DVD here, personally i think the film shows less about hitler and more about the events around the days and eva braun, but its still a fantastic piece of work: 9.5/10 just to be picky tongue.gif
Lordwatson
Well it taught me how to say Schweres in German which I have always wanted to know so that did it for me! I liked all the different stories and your right, Hitler's part isnt huge, more about the people around him!
Red Square Monkey

A marksman living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why.

Maybe a little far-fetched at some points (training a rookie FBI agent into a bad-ass sniper in half a day?) but nevertheless a very entertaining movie.

Ummm... he's former USMC FR/SS... every Marine qualifies at 500 yards, and Corps' Scout Snipers are some of the best in the world.

I, Robot

Reminds me of I Am Legend. Will Smith is a bad-ass detective who is somewhat paranoid towards the then so common robots. He has bits of old equipment ("Gas explodes, you know!") around his house, which eventually come in somewhat handy when he's forced to fight thousands of robots.

Nice movie, with good actors (not a bad female lead happy.gif ) and a nice plot, but maybe a bit too much drama here and there.

Mark Wahlberg plays the former Marine, not the FBI agent played by Michael Peña wink.gif

He's a pure rookie even at basic FBI stuff, not to mention usage of highly specialized firearms. Of course if the movie had shown the full days' training, everyone would have been sleeping in their seats blues.gif

You're young. You have an easy, well-paid deskjob. You have a condo, Swedish furniture, artistic coffee tables and a fridge full of condiments. Yet you feel emotionally and spiritually empty. You eventually find comfort in going to support groups for lukemia and cancer victims when there's nothing wrong with you until they're hijacked from you by another faker. Then you meet Tyler Durden, a man that shows you that not only can you live without material needs but that self-destruction, the collapse of society and making dynamite from soap might not be such a bad idea either.

Brilliant movie, simple yet a really clever plot. 9/10 (-1 cos I was pissed when i watched it)

If you liked Romero's other films you'll like this. It's gruesome and it's clever. If you didn't like Romero's other films, you probably won't enjoy it.

Also, Simon Pegg gets a voiceover! Huzzah!
(I think him and Romero are best friends now, he was in Land of the Dead too! ohmy.gif )

He goes to see the remains and finds a fountain pen (symbolic within the film) proving that it's him.

Saw this yesterday afternoon whilst watching 'Sky Movies Indie'.
A Korean 'Saving Private Ryan' of sorts, in my opinion a must see even if you cant speak Korean and need to read the subtitles.

Gosh you people are lazy. They subtitle everything foreign here... which is well, about half of everything.

Lets see...

Dodgeball

Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story revolves around amiable underachiever Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn), whose rundown gym, Average Joe's, is populated by a less-than-average clientele including a self-styled pirate, an ultra-obscure sports aficionado, and a pining high school nerd. Despite Average Joe's posing little threat to Globo Gym, a fitness Goliath owned by White Goodman (Ben Stiller), Peter's humble recreation center becomes a subject of much controversy when Goodman learns of his competition's less than meticulous bookkeeping. Determined to expand his empire, Goodman hires attorney Kate Veach (Christine Taylor) to initiate a hostile takeover of the gym. Peter's ragtag group of regulars, however, are less than thrilled with the prospects, and mobilize a showdown, winner-takes-all Dodgeball tournament against Globo Gym. (IMDB)

A rather usual Stiller comedy, yet a pretty nice one. Has quite a few good actors, and contains a few stereotypes, yet not too many. Rather violent sometimes, but in a good-hearted way. A nice feel-good comedy, wouldn't recommend for anyone but watch it if you're interested. 8/10.

So the DVD comes only with a subbed version? Nah I don't like that. You always need to watch a movie twice so you can pay attention both the the plot and the dialogues.

Yeah, but the dubbers... having seen few movies and 24 dubbed in German (not to mention the French) while staying at a Parisian hotel... weirdsmiley.gif

There was no dubbing just subtitles (which AFAIK are just set by SKY for the English audience)
