We were told you'd have been hurt while in London?

I'm good buddy thanks smile.gif Yeah i went to East London and nearly got shot by a black guy ... if ever there was an achievement to unlock lol
House got robbed by three black guys with a beretta 9 series handgun. Got punched in the face a few times and picked up a hair line fracture on my left arm but its healing now. Tricked the guy holding me to go upstairs, locked him out and climbed out my second story window, over our roof and next doors, before letting myself down on the window ledges to raise the alarm. Felt all james bond like lol. SCO19 hit the place but the gunmen had fled. The met (london fuzz) hasn't found anything since and are pretty much as much use as sh*t smile.gif

Had the last laugh tho as the mobile and laptop they got away with don't work without being plugged in happy.gif
Hope your good your end and getting some of this sun? cheers
pMASTER
Yeah, I'm rather good.
My my that sounds like a nasty business. Props to you for winging it.
Elliot Carver
Cheers mate!

Only issue is now im saving for a new laptop meaning im stuck using Franken PC. It caught fire over Christmas but randomly still works. Wouldn't boot this morning so i scraped more of the black charing off the ram sticks and it worked fine sweatingbullets.gif

yeah.
pMASTER
What the heck, dude... burn marks?!
Elliot Carver
Loose mic out sound jack verses earthed radiator with said tower in the middle. Bright white flash, followed by that lovely plastic burning smell and a lick of flame shooting out the rapidly melting fan. New surge protector, heated up the fan and kinda pressed it back into shape and generally wiped off some of the mess and it started perfectly. By perfectly i mean it took about 26h to get the thing back to life but franken pc never dies!!

Having survived near electrocution and kissing a 9mm so far this year im now looking for a new third way of cheating death with blind luck. Maybe i should black up and try jumping the ticket booths on the underground? dance.gif

Just remember that in life you cannot load an older savegame...

Eh, I just read that in Denmark many kids have been having unscheduled holidays for almost a month now since as many as 52.000 teachers must not give lessons anymore due to an unsettled wage dispute!

Why didn't such a thing ever happen to me when I was a student?

old skool ofp taught me well. As you run up the hill after the save point put a grenade at the base of the right tree, skirt right, grab the pk and dispatch the first guy on left and blokes on road to right before picking up ak and rpg for a mad dash to left hand bush to pick off the BMP smile.gif ("Ambush" circa - OFP Demo 2001 baby)

ha yeah good friend is a full time teaching assistant - she gets 8 weeks paid holiday over the summer ... (uk education system takes 8 - 12 week gap over summer) seriously in the wrong profession we are. Wonder if its wrong to teach primary school kids the art of war? biggrin.gif

edit: wouldn't normally give a shiz but no way am i posting this to facebook today lol surrender.gif

Carver! Permit me to pollute your mind with feelings of immortality! Quantum Immortality!
Elliot Carver
Huzzah! *can't touch this* happy.gif

Computer wouldn't boot into windows this morning again. CMOS failed, Overclocking failed, ram r/w failed, primary IDE failed ... flicked the CMOS battery several times, bashed the HDD on the pc case a few times and reseated the ram sticks ... it booted up just fine. I'm going to die in a house fire aren't i mellow.gif
Wittmann
Yes.
pMASTER
Man, with all that talk of burning computer parts I can't help but think of one fine day in the year 2004 when my brother and a buddy of his came to me and wanted permission to test a new RAM bar that buddy had bought, and I was like "hey big brother, sure, please don't hit me"... they inserted the bar, plugged the thing back in, hit the power button - and ZING! Next thing I know, the motherboard emitted a trail of smoke.
Didn't work anymore after that.

Ive arrived in London and about to head off for a gig in islington and im not dead yet. Yey!
Its so awesome here! biggrin.gif Right outside the olympic stadium ^.^
Off to the natural history museum or War museum tommorow morning whilst everyone sleeps off a hangover!
What is it with my generation and spoiling everything drinking and making yourself sick?
*confused*
pMASTER
To be honest I wasn't impressed with London. That said, capitals are overrated anyway (unless of course the capital is the only worthwhile place to visit in the whole country, like it is with Hungary and Budapest). Berlin? A shithole. Vienna? Boring. It's the so called seconds of cities which are far more appealing as far as I'm concerned...

I dunno, you could crush capitals instead of capitalism? I mean, everything's better with a bulldozer. Everything.

Just another early morning...

RIV60 was my faithful steed.

Hurry up and wait...

After all the hoopla our missing person strolled back to the staging area under her own power just before we were briefed. Next time I'll stay in bed.

Ace pics witty! smile.gif Here in Uk all our specialist emergency services like cave, mountain, sea rescue are mostly voluntary and charity based. Now they're telling these guys to feck off and replacing them with hired companies form the states and the EU. Basically means now you have to be able to make large donations or dead before they start looking Malajn.gif
Is there anything you cant privatise? lol

Old pics but this is pretty much me this morning cool.gif

You talking about Cuba or the Uk? blues.gif
Benoist
Well, actually in Cuba most people are poor, a friend of mine went there a few months ago and told me that, while everyone has work, the money isn't just enogh. They have the basic things covered, like health, education and food, but stop counting there.

Then again, as pMASTER said, everybody is poor, but everybody lives with their basic needs, more than I can said from a lot of European Countries, and I raise the bet! What could have been of Cuba without that ilegal embargo? Which is still in place even after the UN voted against it (Although, the UN isn't a very intimidating force to be honest).
pMASTER
Oh please. You can't honestly mean to imply Cuba is an economic trainwreck only because of that fricking embargo. Besides, the US of A is very free to impose embargos on which ever receiving end they could possibly come up with. As is every other state. Isn't Argentina considering to place an embargo on Ghana right now for detaining that training ship? There you have it.

Cuba is the place were dissidents get locked up and starve to death in prisons. Also, I think the British average monthly income is somewhat above 50 dollars. Admittely I don't know what the Pound Sterling is at these days, though. wink.gif
Elliot Carver
haha no in the uk dissidents get protected by human rights whilst OAPs who cant afford their tv license get sent down for 3 months and the average British wage is what ever the new benefit cap is lol. Cuba is in the same boat as Russia. A state left to financially fend for itself taken over by powerful mobster thugs while the population become self sufficient. What more would you expect for helping to hold the world to nuclear ransom? smile.gif
pMASTER
Capitalism undoubtedly is a flawed idea and so is democracy but undoubtedly as well they're the best our flawed species can come up with since they have given more people a certain degree of protection, freedom and wealth than anything else there is or ever has been. And that's not a matter of opinion; it's a matter of fact.
Like it or not, but even your ability to like it or not at this board you owe to capitalism.
Those who claimed to speak in the name of the masses and that all people would be equal under their rule managed to kill even more innocent people than the Nazis and that. really. is. a. noteworthy. achievement. And a most telling one. In that light I'd rather suffer the little daily injustices of our system than to trade them in for the unkeepable and always-broken promises and injustices-to-be of Socialism.

That's largely because democratic countries have made every effort to quash any form of alternative. All we really know is that it's better than a monarchy tongue.gif
pMASTER
Where democracy reigns, it took the power from dictators, absolutist monarchs and authoritarian regimes. I trust you're aware of that.

Except for the people who don't even have the basic right to a healty life or can't even live because their mothers where poor, with bad nutrition so their babies were underdeveloped. But hey, that's freedom, right?

QUOTE(pMASTER @ Apr 24 2013, 14:00) *

And we own this freedom because of this system? Go and tell the victims of McCarthyism the same thing, sure, they weren't "killed, raped and left for dead in a rotten prision" like in any other "communist country". Even the poor, the workers or the students can't protest without the forces of repression: the police (AGAIN, this isn't against the poor lad that in a corner doing his shift to fed his family, I wouldn't shot a cop, because he's a man before a cop, but the capitalism uses the police as they bodyguard).

Why everytime you put Communism with Capitalism in a balance you say that the Reds MUST kill, or that the communism has killed more people than capitalism. The world has been in some short of capitalism since the start of surplus value. Most war haven't been for ideals, it's for money, dear boy, sweet money. And if you put Russia under Stalin as an example for a Socialist country you're very far from the real deal. In Cuba you don't have social injustices, you have food, you have shelter, you have health and you have top-notch education. Why do you think they don't let them go to other countries, they had a public tuition and that's money the State inverted in you, you can't then go to somewhere else like nothing.

It's a good thing that statement can't be applied to every revolution everywhere, ever! Nope! I mean, you'd look rather foolish if, say, someone could mention an example of an unpopular monarchy being deposed by a left-wing revolution, perhaps sometime around autumn, in eastern Europe, during the first world war. Thankfully enough, though, no such example immediately comes to mind.

Edit: Actually, I just remembered we have a nice sanitized political thread in OT1 for all your rhetoric spewing needs. Perhaps we could relocate this discussion there?

Do you know how much the cleaning service charges to get rid of rhetoric stains out of the carpet in here? Lemme tell'ya, it ain't cheap...

I won't go anywhere until someone riddles me what the acronym JLS stands for.
Elliot Carver
I would google it but id have to clear my history and lose all my porn links. rolleyes.gif
pMASTER
Bah.
Elliot Carver
hahaha oh god thats brilliant. Apparently JLS stands for 'Jack the Lad Swing' or in other words a bunch of 'cunning stunt's who like to beat women before forcing sex on them. Can see now why they were so popular with pre-teen girls mellow.gif

Yes, it's supposed to be winter.

Winter for his hemisphere smile.gif Although Aussie seasons tend to be judged on how many days a week you can wear flip flops unlike our crappy side of the planet!
pMASTER
No, you heard me. Winter. Just one week ago it was still winter here. Then the temperature rose to 27°C. Now it's at 10°C again.
Elliot Carver
haha you mean to tell me you European sun hoggers got to experience a British summer? biggrin.gif It'll be autumn for 7 months now
pMASTER
They say it's global warming.... if only there was some warning.
Daniel
Nah, that definitely sounds like a case of British Weather to me. It's quite warm and sunny here at the moment, we're expecting it to start snowing any moment now.
