If past experience is any indication, the fresh release might not be as playable as we all hope. It seems that it usually takes one or two updates for the game to smooth out. So will you buy it as soon as it is out? or will you hold of and see what other early adopters have to say before making the purchase?

Or have BI learned from their past mistakes and worked hard on game/performance issues?

Being outside of Europe it will be difficult for me to do so however I think I will wait a month or so and see what reviews and the forums are saying.
If it is a great improvement and the campaign especially, as I do love my singleplayer, is fantastic and the multiplayer has few issues I will most likely be importing a copy ASAP. At the point it arrives if this is the case, my life once again ceases to have all meaning and every waking hour (Restricted by gaming prerogatives) not devoted to booze, women, socialising, university and work will be devoted to the game as it was with OFP.

I'll get the game just as soon as I can. I don't care much for the single player game. I just hope it runs well without too many issues. I really hope it is all that I'm hoping for. The rest of the guys in the clan will get the game, we will set up our own server, and ArmA-II will see a 20+ strong clan playing each night.

concenrning topic:

no, i will wait what other will say about HDR, bugs, AI, etc.
of course i would like to look at Chernarus and models, but after Arma1 expiriences and beta previews - i don't trust this developer

"Or have BI learned from their past mistakes and worked hard on game/performance issues? "
it seems not too
if they have learnt... T72 would not had DSHK and AKSU would not had PBS1
if in Russian preview there was told that mission/campaign stops cause AI refuses to move and obey orders
BIS implemented new AI, seems this AI is not better according to Russian preview
there was not shown HDR work yet
there are very different opinions concerning playing it, i contacted one jurnalist who played A2 beta (from one PC gaming website) and he was not happy with it and said he will wait for patched version
free demo would be the best way
but will BIS give us demo ? i doubt, looking at Arma1
if i had Arma1 demo... i would not buy A1 and for sure i would stick to OFP and other games
i wait and see if my friends PC will take A2 on 25-30 FPS and not crash after some minutes

for me Arma 1 is worst game i have ever had concerning PC-performance issues, i make addons, but i don't play it:
- HDR annoys me
- game looks like this after some minutes:
http://www.armaholic.eu/vilas/scr/116a.jpg
http://www.armaholic.eu/vilas/scr/116b.jpg
- vehicles collisions makes my nerves, single easy convoy missions ends cause one tank pushed other tank off road and this BMP is upside down, some crew died, vehicles still collide each other etc.

i will wait for some opinions of some old players from OFP community, not new members, cause they don't feel the same, what OFP veterans felt

Hi, i won't gonna buy the ArmA2 until that i see some of the content and i'll await for impartial people to release some data on the game, how it is it's
performance on medium computers... the ammount and which bugs it have... which the bugs (aside of those that we already know) in the game... how
is the campaign or campaigns... animations... etc. I won't give a single damn dime to BIS until that i hear that the ArmA2 is not the robbery that the ArmA
was. Let's C ya

Yes, ArmA 1 was a robbery! mad.gif

For about 40 euros I got hundreds of hours of fun gaming. I feel like a thief! wink.gif

Back on topic:
I preordered ArmA 2 because the price was lower than normal prices up here north and I knew I'd buy the game no matter what.

I want a demo.

I can't buy a game without having tested a demo. even, if the pictures are amazing.

Where do you live? I'd wait for the respective release in your country to get it to save hassle.

Well I tried that patch too of course and it seems like it's from one of the betas or previews. There are a lot of "TODO....." lines visible. But yes in general it works and you can, especially if you don't need the english subtitles, enjoy the game.

However you should be aware that there are bugs, many of them which might spoil the fun for a while. In the end you need to decide if you can wait or not.

Bohemia Interactive staff member Placebo has complained about this release being a violation of the non-disclosure agreement for the ArmA II Beta. Remember that any kind of software is the intellectual property of its respective creators and any legal agreements concerning the software need to be respected. Rule 2.1 of our board clearly states that "discussions about (...) reverse engineering of BIS games, (...) will not be tolerated" if the legal end user agreements are violated in doing so. Violations of this rule "may result in the poster no longer having access to the site and forums".

Hence I will remove all posted links and deny cameltoe access to these forums for a week. Further actions to be taken by the administration crew are explicitely reserved.
