Hi Guys And Girls,
First, a little about myself. Ive been a gamer for as long as I can remember. Ive spent most of my time on the console front, more to the point, call of duty. But dont get me wrong, Ive been playing the flashpoint games for a very long time now. It was by chance that I got into operation flashpoint, a simple thing of walking into game as a little kid and just picking a game randomly that looked like good fun to play. I never put OFP cold war crisis down after that. The arma armed assault came out and the times when the computer could run it, I had great fun. But, when the computer went wrong, I moved back into the world of play station. With the loss of my grandfather recently, I came into some money and decided to treat myself to a new PC. The old one was 6 years old and falling, so I thought what the hell. It was custom built by dell and arrived last week. In the words of my best mate, “ holy **** thats a beastie PC. Yes I said, I should hope so for 1200. Iam not really clued up on computers, but from I can tell, an i7 quad core and NVIDIA ( right spelling?) 9600 GTS x 2 is good right? Its got all the other bits and bobs, genuine windows 7 64 bit and the rest, so iam guessing ive done all right. The reason I write this rather long post is because as a computer novice, I feel rather thrown in the deep end when it comes to downloading add ons /mods for arma. Iam a big WW2 fan and I keep seeing all these lovely mods and vehicles for that era, but I don know how to get them to work. Could someone please be kind enough to write a “how too” for idiots please, it would be greatly appreciated. Please do not flame me for being such a noob, it cant be helped. And as for flaming for being a console player, all I can say is Ive learnt the error of my ways. Iam home If i have posted in the wrong section, would a admin kindly move it to the right one. Olly P.S can anyone recommend any good WW2 vehicle mods please? This post has been edited by Olly-Weston: Feb 3 2010, 16:38 |

Hey,
Separate addons can go into the standard "Addons" folder, but it is much better to put them into modfolders instead. I.e. grouping all of your WW2 addons (not part of any mod) together in a folder called "@WW2" (the "@" is only so the folder is ranked before BIS' own folders in the ArmA2 directory), and creating a shortcut of the ArmA2 executable. Then modifying the Target Field to look like this (depending on where you installed ArmA2): "C:\ArmA2\ArmA2.exe" -mod=@WW2 You can use more than one modfolder at a time by using a ";" in between names, like: "C:\ArmA2\ArmA2.exe" -mod=@WW2;PLA;@FDF Mods almost always come in their own foldersystem, so just unpacking/running the installer should do (might need to change the Target Field in the shortcut to correspond with your ArmA2 directory). As for WW2 mods, not much is out for ArmA2 so far. Certainly no mods, but maybe there are some separate addons ... -------------------- |

Welcome to the community
One of the most complete WW2 mods released for ArmA.1 to date is probably "Invasion 1944", I'm surprised John didn't link this (I think he thought this was the ArmA.2 section...) You can download it here: http://www.armedassault.info/index.php?gam...ons&id=1068 -------------------- The Rules - Nothing too complicated, follow these and we'll have no problems.

(I think he thought this was the ArmA.2 section...) Just noticed the section thing now. Why would anyone buy a brand new computer, and run ArmA1 on it instead of the far superiour ArmA2. Makes no sense, so I didn't even look at the section Brand new pc = buy ArmA2 ... or so they should force people to by law -------------------- |

Right, today i went out and bought arma 2 as from what i've read, it seems like i was missing out and it runs like a dream on my pc. Now, its completely stock, no updates, no mods, nothing. so can someone recomend any updates and mods ect please, where can i get this villies mod or whatever its called, i've seen the WW2 screens shots in the combat photos thread and it got me very excited. right, thats idiot question number two out the way.
Also, seeing as this is now about arma 2, can it be moved to that section. I dont want to upset any mods or admin Olly |
