rofl! well if Indigo let me explain to her what the Leveson Inquiry was then maybe that post could be her ... but most of the time i get that look of ranting unimpression that says you 'lost me when you opened your mouth' hug.gif

on the plus side i did just armchair storm chase for a few hours. Got this live 30mins ago from a storm chaser in Omaha on a supercell from the dashboard livestreaming cam of his truck.

2nd pic - the lowering of cloud is the "wall cloud"
3rd pic - the cloud underneath is called "scud"
5-7 pic - the funnel but not a tornado as it wasn't touching the ground
8th pic - the wall cloud lifts back up into the base of the supercell

shows how quick a tornado can produce from an angry storm to a monster finger of god back to a storm again in 2 minutes. thumbsup.gif

haha this was nothing. He's sat a good few miles away and the funnels winds probably didnt get above 80. That same storm went on during the night to grow into a beast and spawn a huge (unconfirmed) F5 tornado with 200mph winds that flattened the small town of Harveyville in Kansas. this was one of the first images to come out of the area. the US national weather service mis-judged this weather system and didn't give enough warnings last night. Its very very early on in the season and this storm took everyone by suprise in its strength.

1423 edit: http://youtu.be/Eiq7Qr-p9H8 - video of the Hutchinson tornado as it dropped before it developed into the massive wedge. also the news item to go with it. This went on to kill one person. crazy

1741: bbc news total toll is now 13 with millions of dollars of damage reported ><

You choose to live with a crazy guy. No sympathy.

Either you really love him and love the crazy, you are masochistic/a martyr OR he is well, you know. Endowed.

Right. I'm off to NE Vic to shoot things and visit vineyards. Unfortunately, they will not allow me to combine the two.
Hopefully I do not get flooded out, it's looking grim down there. Flooded IN however would be grand.

Shes only with me for my porn collection thumbsup.gif Have fun with the guns! lol only in Auz could you be 1000 miles inland, in a desert, and get attacked by a shark biggrin.gif

Following on from yesterdays tornado outbreak, tomorrow (2.3.12) is gearing up to be one of the biggest tornadic out breaks in us/world history. To put this in perspective - the current world record super outbreak from last year with 359 tornadoes, 346 people killed and $11 billion USD was 35% probability ...

Don't you worry, I'm also fascinated with things that could get you killed. Had I lived to have the opportunity, I'd have loved to watch a nuclear weapon test...

No. They remain loyal to the United Kingdom. They're still kicking about somewhere around here....

Also, bravo on your government putting more retarded sanctions in place against the UK. Imbeciles...

Oh, while I'm here, happy Friday Andi Boing

you'd think in a country where stupid weather such as tornados and huricanes are common that they would build houses from something more sustantial than what looks like balsa wood...just sayin'

Next time we'll write a letter biggrin.gif Of course that would mean submitting your address to the board ...

And your right on the money there. For some typically stupid American reason tornadoes are seen as an 'act of god' like and earthquake. So when a bible bashing family of 6 have their house obliterated they cry to god and rebuild. 500 people were killed by storms last year and on average 300 have been killed yearly since the 50's when records began. Thats 15,000 people.

When you consider the forefront of tornado research is grad students and uni lecturers messing about with grants in their spare time and with situations like today when literally 100,000 people over 3 states face a 45% of being hit by a tornado with nothing but their bath to hide in ... makes you realise god must really hate Americans XD

1637: Update - Just to prove a point right now in huntsville, AL a per-cursery storm to the main event spawned a tornado that has left cars flipped and people trapped on the outskirts. Its on the ground right now still going ...

infact ... Tornado pic - This was taken 5 mins ago as it passed through the town of that actual twister.

I've never been able to understand that either. I've watched US home renovation shows featuring people with plenty of money renovate their houses with stuff that makes my childhood cabin I built with some of the other kids in the neighborhood look like an impregnable fortress. Man switched from wood to stone as their primary building material well over two centuries ago, when will the US catch up ... tiredsmiley.gif

I think the whole idea is that they're crap, so they don't cost much to replace when they do inevitably fall over. A more obvious question would be "why the fuck did you build your house in a place that's well known for house destroying weather!?"

(Obligatory Holy Grail reference: And that one fell over, caught fire, then sank into the swamp)

Must be some kind of Tornado industrial complex, every time their houses fall over, the contractors make millions rebuilding them...
